On high city gates, guards stood tall. It was already time for the change of shift. The old guards made to move away for the new guards to take over when one of them spotted something below.
“What is that?” he paused. His words alerted the others to what he was looking at. Beyond the high wall out in the desert sand, was a figure approaching through the swirling desert wind. As the guards trained their eyes on the figure, they noted even from its distance, that it was humming like in the way it walked.
“Sound the alarm!” the head guard said.
“But…” the head guard whose shift had finished protested.
“Nothing ever comes from the west of the kingdom, not even a bird. The city Lord must be informed no matter what it
is,” the head guard explained.
“You know how His lordship is to things that he deems unnecessary,” the other warned.
