2 Chapter 2

"Silena!"

"Yeah" I replied.

I looked back and I saw Dervan running to catch up with me.

I was in the hallway, trying to get to my room and deal with my ankle, which by the way, is still broken.

"I just wanted to tell you that commander has grouped us, you're in with me, Julin and Sareba".

I raised up an eyebrow and cocked my head to one side.

"Julin?, He really wants us to fail doesn't he"

He chuckled quietly.

"Can't blame him either, no one really wants her on their squad anymore, after....last time"

I sighed, last time Julin went on a mission with a squad, she had an argument with the squad leader on leadership tatics, apparently that lost precious time and allowed the hostiles to catch up with them, which unfortunately cost the leader his arm.

"Yeah right" I replied

"Anyways, I gotta go, have check up on the inventory, got a problem in upgrading the RTC's"

"Okay, see you soon"

Dervan always crazy for gadgets.

I found my way to my room and thought about our latest mission, get to the planet, locate the hostiles base, destroy it and do nothing to compromise the mission.

Sounds easy right, well I've learned that things almost never go the way you want them to, trust me I learnt that the hard way.

I stepped out after fixing up my ankle and gearing up in my suit, black jumpsuit with silver lines by the side, the order's logo on breast: four silver stars surrounding a planet and a killer belt, trust me do not underestimate that belt courtesy of Dervan, it's contains anything from bombs, to laser guns and even a holographic communicator, though I have not yet gotten to the rank to use one of those.

When I got to head deck, Sareba was already waiting there.

"So you're our squad leader ?"

I asked in a hopeful tone, though I already knew the answer to that question.

"Dearie, why disturb yourself, you already know the answer yourself."

I sighed in defeat, I looked up and saw  her strikingly beautiful orange eyes. She had red hair which gave the impression that it was on fire.

"It's Julin isn't it?"

She nodded her head.

We're so screwed.

That was the first thing that entered my head.

"It won't be that bad" she said, as if she read my thoughts.

"Says the person who beat her in the Gama program recently, you should be the person freaking out right now"

"Don't worry she won't do anything stupid, after all we are in the same team."

I gave her a weak smile.

Hopefully I thought, hopefully.

LATER ON PLANET 28

"Okay people, buckle up, touchdown in five minutes."

Great,  I thought

I looked up to find Dervan coming in.

"Hey, ready to go all spy mode"

I laughed

"Sure"

"Lovebirds, over here, important mission over here, remember?"

I scowled, we haven't even left already and Julin is already getting on my nerves.

"Whatever" I murmured.

We got down from the craft first and took a look around, well, I guess it was too much to ask for a planet with hot springs, and exotic trees and maybe an ocean, to go swimming in, but nooo, we got this, absolute nothing.

"Woah" I heard Sareba say to herself.

The planet was a barren waste land with hardly any signs of life apart from the occasional trees here and there and the rundown, old rickety buildings and did I forget to mention sand, lots and lots of sand, red sand, blue sand, green sand, just mention whatever you want and you'll get a fistful of it in your face.

"It looks like a nuclear war just place here" I said

Julin got down from the craft last, probably looking for a way to butcher up the story to match one of her tales of heroic exploits .

"No wonder this place is a hostile base, but they should have picked a better place, for one thing, sub sector 43's hostile base had a better view and at least there was beach. Anyways people since I am the squad leader I will be assigning each of you posts".

"Hurray" I said while rolling my eyes.

I heard Sareba trying to hide her snickering.

Just my luck, I think I might have forgotten that Julin was a temperamental person, and of course, she took it the hard way.

"Well, Silena, Sareba how nice for both of you to volunteer for lookout"

"Ha, is that all you got, it is goi..... Wait, what, lookout!, that's not fair, I want to be on the field". Because technically, field equals merits and merits equals promotion.

"Too bad, so sad, you heard what I said, both of you stay here and watch while me and Dervan go scout the area and look for the base".

"But.."

"No buts, that is final, come on Dervan". She turned on her heels and walked away.

Before he went I saw him mouth sorry.

I turned to Sareba.

"Well, we might as well get on with our jobs".

TWO HOURS LATER...

"Ughhh, what is taking them so long?, it's been years."

"Don't worry I'm sure they are alright, maybe they are just having trouble finding the base and it's been hours not years".

I snorted and ignored the comment on the time. "Yeah right, more like Julin did something to jeopardize the whole mission".

Suddenly, Sareba perked up.

"Shhhh"

"What is it?"

"Hostiles, I sense three of them".

I looked around and I didn't see anyone or sense anyone, for that matter, I frowned, sometimes you just got to hate alien senses.

"Where?"

She closed her eyes in concentration and pointed south.

"That way"

I looked to where she pointed, there was a cluster of three to four buildings, one in particular was bending so much, I thought it was going to fall right then.

We stood and slowly approached the site and I being the idiot I am went for the soon-to-be-collapsed building, I approached slowly, my footsteps muted, hardly making a noise, the building was nothing spectacular, just broken windows, a door that had seen better days, I was about to leave when something caught my eye, there was a small source of light inside.

I called Sareba, "Psst, hey, I've found something".

She came to stand behind me and we moved closer, I heard a faint noise from inside, that noise became clearer to be identified as voices, three raspy voices, I didn't dare move any closer to see the faces.

"....almost ready, the forces are organised and ready to attack". Ugly one said

"Good, any word from the base". Ugly two, probably the leader, at least his voice was better than ugly one's own.

"No, our spy hasn't sent any information yet". Ugly one replied.

"How do we know we haven't yet been betrayed?, for all we know we could have been double crossed, I did tell you not to trust him". This voice I recognized as a female's, I'm not going to call her ugly three, she might look good.

Ugly two spoke up again "Silence!!,  I've told you not to worry about it, the spy wouldn't dare to betray us". Yep, definitely the leader.

The female bowed her, "Of course, forgive me for my actions".

Ugly two waved her off and went back to ugly one

"Prepare the army, I want to reclaim this galaxy from those oppressors that painted themselves as an Order for planets, we will start with the nearest base, get ready".

"Yes my lord". Ugly one bowed.

We slowly backed away and ran to our ship.

We looked at each other, this could only mean one thing, well two things actually.

One, we have a spy in our midst and two, a whole army of what I don't know, is coming after the nearest base, which is our's

Commander is going to get his hands busy, big time.
