10 Dirty dancing

I waited maybe 30 minutes before the phone rang and I quickly juggled around with the phone to click answer.

He didn't speak and neither did I but hearing his heavy breathing on the other side of the line made me close my eyes and imagine it was him lying here next to me not my phone.

I could of happily fallen asleep like that but I wanted, no needed to say something before I backed out. "Eli when I ask you tomorrow just say yes okay?" I say whispering.

He didn't answer my question and I wasn't sure if he'd already fallen asleep at this point "goodnight doodlebook" I smile to myself.

I woke up earlier than usual to get myself ready for the day, I notice that the phone call was cut off around 5:30am again.

it's Tuesday and I have the first stage of our dance competition/show later.

Although I love doing cheer at school I much prefer my dance classes on Tuesdays, we do lots of different types of dancing so it never gets old or boring and it just makes me feel alive.

I quickly get up and get showered then sort my teeth and dry my hair before straightening it and braiding two small sections at the front to frame my face.

I put my clothes on which are brown and beige to two piece set (skirt and one shouldered crop top)







I put om some make up but kept the colours neutral to match my outfit and then grabbed a pair of Nike trainers. I grab a little white purse and head to out the door to meet Stephan who's waiting for me in the foyer.

He looks handsome as always as he holds his hand for me to take with a fake bow.

I laugh at his silliness and take his hand letting him escort me to the car.

On the way to school I fill Stephan in on my plan with Elijah for today and how exactly I'm going to do it all.

"are you sure Trin? What if.. What if he doesn't show" he says carefully obviously not wanting to hurt my feeling.

"he will, I just have to be positive okay?" I say confidentiality.

"Okay" he replies warmly with a smile "I wish you the best of luck"

"I think I'll need it" I say with a laugh.

Once we reach school Evan of course isn't here so I meet up with Danielle with Stephan by our lockers.

"you look cute as a button" she says tapping her finger on my nose.

Not really the look I was going for but okay. I just smile at her and take her hand leading us to class.

The class itself is boring I spent it trying to listen to Elijah's smooth voice as he spoke to Callum and Ryan behind us.

We do a quick pop quiz which takes about 15 minutes. We Mark and grade all the papers and soon enough we all have our work back.

"how did you do with no revision this time Tinkerbelle?" I heard Elijah say.

I shoot my head around "who says I didn't revise" I say raising an eyebrow at him.

"call it a 6th sense" he says smirking at me.

"well.. Revision or not my grades stay the same" I say while flashing my paper at him showing the A* at the top "how about you doodlebook" I blush realising I'd called him that here when usually I'd only ever said it between the two of us, the nickname suddenly sounded so silly and childish in my head now.

But he doesn't seem to be annoyed by the embarrassing nickname instead he just smiles at me like the fucking Cheshire cat "snap" he says showing me his matching grade.

Maybe it's bad of me to think but I never imagined him getting good grades, he looks like your typical bad boy who'd fail every subject. But he wasn't.

"hmm I don't want to know what you had to do to a get a grade like that" I say mockingly to him wriggling my eyebrows.

"you sure? I can give you every dirty detail if you'd like?" he says back with a cheeky wink.

My cheeks heat up and I must be tomato red right now and by the smirk on his face he has definitely noticed.

"erm no that's fine you keep the dirty details" I say on a hoarse voice and turn back around mentally face palming myself.

After class I walk down the corridor with Danielle and Stephan, though I'm really not paying attention to their conversation.

My head is up in the clouds as I have a million and one thoughts rushing through my mind. Will Elijah say yes to my invitation later on today? How will he react when he finds out what I have planned? What will I do if it doesn't go as I planned?

No I refuse to think like that, negative thoughts create negative emotions and all I need is positive ones.

As I pull my head from out the clouds I realise its no longer just the three of us. We seem to have met up with everyone at some point while I was in lala land.

Most of our group is coupled up now and it makes me feel all the more lonelier. But I need hurry up and pull my head out the sand and ask Elijah before I lose the nerve to.

Laura is currently caught up in a conversation with Stephan as they laugh and smile at one another I'm happy for him.

I don't think it would be weird for me to speak to Elijah at the point. He's currently stood talking to Danielle and Ryan.

It doesn't seem like he's paying much attention though if I'm honest, he's definitely not listening to whatever Danielle is babbling on about. Talk about being a third wheel.

I walk over and smile at them all, before turning my attention more specifically on Elijah.

"can I borrow you for a sec" I ask calmly though inside I'm having a heart attack from nerves.

"you speak like an old woman" he says rolling his eyes "sure" he adds following my lead as I walk into a corridor where we our by ourselves.

"what's up then?" he says looking at me.

I hate how easy it is for him to switch from hot to cold especially with me. I never know what to expect from him or where I stand. It's infuriating.

"well.." I begin taking a pause before carrying on "I want you to meet me tonight.. At 7:30pm at our spot" I say reaching for a fake confidence.

"and don't be late" I say quickly before I turn around and walk back to the others not giving him time or the chance to reject my offer.

My dance comp starts at 12am and should finish around 6pm. So that leaves me with 1hr 30 mins I hope that's enough for what I have planned.

As I walk in I go straight to Lee who is obviously stood with Callum.

They're taking about some TV series I've never seen or heard of. They seem to be major fan boys however. God these two are something I think laughing to myself.

Everyone starts to make their way towards next classes, as me and Lee linger behind them all.

Once everyone is gone we sneak off together to get ready for our dance comp.

Where as everyone seems to know Lee dances, I keep my dancing to myself hence the secrecy and sneaking around between me and Lee.

Thankfully he seems to understand that I wanted to keep this private and I appreciate him all the more for it.

We walk to his car in the parking lot then head to the arena and once we have shown our badges we get escorted to the back.

This is where the dressing rooms are, we go in to separate ones and once I enter the girls, I'm immediately swamped with all sorts of stylists to get me ready for the first dance.

I laugh to myself thinking how Lee is probably getting the same treatment right now too.

Once my outfit, hair and stage makeup are finished I wait in my chair waiting for my name to be called.

The stylists work on some of the other girls from my group in the changing room. Soon enough everyone is ready and the dances begin.

The first section is 'passionate couple duo' this can be girl-boy, girl-girl or boy-boy it didn't matter as long as they seemed to be passionate towards each other and create chemistry between the two of them.

Lee was my partner in this section and I am glad, he's an amazing dancer and we played the role of a passionate loved up couple well.

I knew that it was all an act for the both of us, see I know Lee's secret. Even if he refuses to admit it himself, I see right through it all.

After about 5 other girls have already been I hear my name be called. I head to the lady waiting for me with a clipboard in hand.

She walks me through many hallways and through a stage door where we go through more narrow hallways.

Eventually I see Lee stood beside the stage I go to him and we stand at the side of the stage. Hidden by the curtains.

We watch on at the two girls preforming their routine in the stage, they're from one of the other teams which are well know and watching them I can see why.

They move together beautifully and look sexy as hell. Once they finish I clap for them not that you could hear over the audience.

A young couple from another group are next. Though I'd never heard of their dance group before it didn't mean they were not good.

Me and Lee start to prepare ourselves for being on next we do some stretches and breathing exercises as we laugh at each other doing them.

Soon enough the couple finish there dance, they were good but did not compare to the two girls beforehand.

There's 2 minute between each dance to give both the audience and the dancers a chance to have a quick break.

As we are escorted onto the stage where we are covered by the large red curtains, hidden from the audience.

We get ourselves ready and into our starting positions now our props have been brought out.

I start to get a whiff of scents that are all to familiar to me but I can't place them exactly while surrounded by such a large crowd.

Though I couldn't smell them properly I think I could guess exactly who they are. I look over to Lee as if to say 'really?' he just smiles sheepishly.

"when you're as talented as you, it should be seen" he said but before I could argue back I hear our introductions being made.

Elijahs pov

I'm sat in a way overcrowded arena to support Lee like we all always do when he has his dances, it's definitely not my scene.

However the hostess says something that grabs my attention.

"now let's hear it for Mrs. Trinity Elizabeth and Mr. Lee Williams from the expanding dance group for their first entry in the couples dance section"

Trinity? Maybe I'm hearing things or maybe it's somebody else entirely but what are the chances of that?

Then the curtain rises. Shit.

Normal pov again

As the curtains rises my theory soon becomes reality as I see the whole gang here in the front row like VIPs.

Even jade is here though I doubt it's for me and more so for Lee actually looking at all their faces I think that none of them knew I'd be here. As surprised as me then.

The only person who doesn't seem surprised to see me is Danielle of course who has watched all my dance shows over the years as she cheers for me in the crowd sat next to Ryan.

I make eye contact with Elijah who is sat next to a very shocked looking Laura. To be fair Elijah looks equally as shocked as he stares at me his mouth ajar.

Soon enough our music starts and I snap into my role.

Dance 1 skip to 45 seconds in for dance



Once our dance is over we finish it with a staged kiss.

Elijah is now stood up from his seat with his chest visibly rising and falling with heavy breaths and I can't tell if it is in anger at my dance with his friend or from lust from seeing me dancing around basically in lingerie, sexy lingerie at that.

I ignore his gaze and take my bow with Lee as we exit the stage happy with our performance.

We head back to our separate changing rooms again to get ready for the second dance.

Soon enough we are stood behind the red curtain again listening to our introductions being made ready for our second dance.

Once the curtains rise I see Elijah staring at me with looks that could kill as Laura trys to settle him but he just shoves her hands away never looking away from me. Oooops.

The music starts and we begin our second dance.

We again make our bows after finishing the dance and head off stage I didn't bare look at Elijah this time.

We head back to be sorted for the third dance and sit around waiting for them to call our name.

While we wait we end up playing silly games like hangman to pass the time but then its our time to be up again.

Once all our props are in place we take our positions and wait for the curtains to rise after our introductions.

After finishing me and Lee are rather out of breath when we take our bows, and water drips off of us as we do it and splashes into the audience.

I still refuses to look Elijahs way but I feel his stare and its piercing through me.

We quickly head off the stage and have a minute to catch our breaths before returning to our dressing room once again.

The second section is 'boys' I obviously don't partake in this one but cheer on for Lee for his dances.

After that the third secoion is 'girls' when my first dance comes I get ready on stage with a girl either side of me.

Once all 4 sections are over the judges add up the score to see who won the first comp but if it is a draw it goes to a dance battle of sorts.

Everyone is all rammed on stage awaiting the results right now, I'm holding Lees hand nervous as hell and out of breath.

"so the results are in ladies and gentlemen" one of judges announces they list off all the teams in there order and soon it is down to first place "and in joint first place awaiting a battle is expanding dance and sweeties dancers" she announces.

Due to me being the highest point scorer for my team the battle falls on me but I can choose to be solo or have others from my team with me there are 2 rounds to the Battle.

Our team decide to let the sweeties dancers pick the theme and style of dance.

And when they tell me what was chosen I cringe to myself and instantly regret letting them decide. I really don't want to do this. Not in front of all our friends. Fuck.

"first we have angelica from sweetie dancers with a category of twerking. Let's hear it for angelica everyone"

The mention of twerking caught a lot of attention from the audience which made me feel even worse.

I stand side stage with Lee as we watch angelica get ready and choose her song.

She decides on going solo for the first part of the battle and goes into her routine.



Once she finished the boys of the crowd seem to be louder than they've been all night.

The hostess quickly comes back on shushing them all "and now for our second contender from expanding dace let's give it up for Mrs. Trinity Elizabeth, ladies and gentlemen" she announced as I enter centre stage.

I hear someone chock on a drink and notice it was Elijah who's still coughing. Brilliant.

I look to see the faces of all my other friends and theyre mixed as hell. Stephen is smiling holding back laughter Danielle is cheering for me on "come on TRINITY I know you can do this, show em what your mama gave you! " jade looks disgusted and Laura is happily cheering me on too "go on trinity you can do it!" she yells.

I unlike angelica I don't care much about a routine, with the category being twerking that's all we will gain points for. my song starts and I get to work.

Once my song ends I exit the stage without a bow as I can't face them after this not right now.

I hear the crowd go crazy and wild and feel even more embarrassed over the cheers I also hear Elijah distinctive growl great of course he's pissed off.

I go back to my old spot on the side of the stage while angelica comes back out for her second dance this time instead of solo she came out with two others to preform their dance.



Once they finish I make my way out again hating myself already, bugger it might as well go out with a bang.

I refuse eye contact with Elijah like I have most of the night.

My music starts and I do my final dance with what little energy I have left.



Once I'm don't I smile at the crowd take a quick bow and walk to Lee at the side of the stage until the judges call us all out for the results.

Lees holding my hand trying to convince me that it could of be worse but I'm not having any of it I feel humiliated.

This is why I keep my dance private but no now all my friends are here to see my embarrassment.

We all gather round the stage again while the hostess holds a card in her hand "and I can proudly announce the winner is... Expanded dance!!" she yells into her mic.

The dancers around me start jumping up and down at our win Lee wraps his arms around me but I just stand there my eyes locked with his. Elijah is livid and turned on as hell. And he looks absolutely yummy.
