38 Chapter 37 - Date

Hearing her explanation, Jessie was taken aback. She dryly laughed before slowly asking, "W-what do you mean you don't feel love?"

Her eyes showed her disbelief, she absolutely couldn't imagine someone being unable to "feel love". she strongly believed that everyone was capable of loving, so even though she only recently found out that an entire species she thought were mere myths, were real, she still believed that Amara was able to love.

On the other hand, Austin felt as if Amara took his heart and crushed it in her hands. She couldn't feel love? Does that mean that the whole time they've spent together she didn't feel an ounce of affection towards him? He found it painful to know that only he was the one falling in love. He kept quite still trying to process this.

Amara blinked innocently, she felt a slight change in the room. She glanced at Austin and noticed that he looked little gloomy, "Did I say something wrong…?"

They couldn't answer her, instead, they could do nothing but awkwardly sit there as they listen to their alpha get rejected.

Then a soft chuckle filled the air. Clive deeply looked into Amara's eyes and confidently said "She loved me,"

She didn't know where his confidence stemmed from but Amara didn't look away and steadily held his gaze that looked like he was daring her to challenge him to say otherwise.

"What I want to know, is why she left,"

Amara continued to stare into his eyes before slowly answering, "After giving birth we return home,"

Lucas couldn't help but question "Do you come back?"

"I don't know… Some may, some may not," she said nonchalantly.

The little bit of hope that Clive held in his heart instantly disappeared and all that was left was disappointment. After both Clive and Austin became gloomy, the mood in the room quickly turned depressing.

They watched as Clive's eyes dimmed with hopelessness making them feel sorry for him. Losing the one you love and never being able to see them again… they couldn't even begin to imagine how painful that must feel.

As they drowned in their sorrow, Jackson's mind couldn't help but wonder if Amara had mated with a human before.

Crack

Jackson's eyes went wide, did he just say that out loud?! He wanted to turn his head and see how Austin reacted but something told him that if he were to do so then he wouldn't be alive tomorrow. the room turned chilly as goosebumps began to form on his arms.

Austin tightly clenched his fists to the point that he felt his nails almost tear through his palm. The thought of anybody else touching Amara made him red with rage; it took everything he had to push down the growing rage that was about to erupt from him. Sensing the change in their alpha everyone couldn't help but look at Jackson with hatred. Did he have to blurt out something so careless!?

"...no"

Austin stilled before breathing a sigh of relief. It looked like he no longer needed to hunt people down, but it was only a few moments later did he realise that they would have been dead anyway. Now, he felt like an idiot for forgetting a fact as important as his mate being a siren.

Hearing Amara deny that she hadn't mated with a human before slightly interested Jackson. I mean, she didn't look like someone who would abstain from such things which made him very curious as to the reasons why she would go against her nature. Could it be because of the bond? he wondered.

Unfortunately, he didn't have the opportunity to ask before Austin sternly told everyone "That's enough," this left no room for arguments.

"Since we're done here, I think it's best you guys leave for today," in other words, Austin was explicitly telling them to get out.

Lucas was reluctant, when was he going to get another chance to find out more about these mysterious beings? But unfortunately, he did not have the guts to refute and so ended up reluctantly leaving.

"I won't be going to work today," Austin said before Jackson and Felix left. They inwardly groaned, it's not like they wanted to go either! They swallowed their resentment and stiffly nodded their head.

After they left, only Austin and Amara were left in the room. Austin didn't want to waste the day away and asked Amara if she wanted to go on a date with him today.

Amara tilted her head "Date? What's that?"

Austin merely smiled and said "You'll see,"

.

.

After exiting the car, they could immediately hear loud screams. The place that Austin had driven them to had so many foreign things she's never seen before, like the weird contraptions that zoomed through the sky; not only that but the place was packed with so many humans. She could also pick out some that were werewolves after spending so much time around them.

Austin took her hand and pulled her towards the amusement park. The air had a mixture of so many scents that it slightly overwhelmed Amara's senses making her feel a little dizzy. She covered her nose in an attempt to filter out the different smells.

Austin, on the other hand, was used to places like this so it didn't have much on an effect on him, so seeing Amara cover her nose, it had reminded him how overwhelming these scents could be. He immediately felt sorry for forgetting such a thing and suggested to leave.

Amara shook her head, although the scents were very strong, she didn't want to give up this opportunity to explore these mundane things.

"It's fine, I'll get used to it,"

Austin looked at her, his face filled with concern, but before he could take her back he was already being led into the park.

The moment they started walking towards the entrance, many bystanders couldn't help but look at the stunning woman that wore a floral dress that beautifully hugged her thin and lean figure. the short dress revealed her long legs and porcelain skin

[Oh my god! She's gotta be model, is there a photoshoot nearby?]

[Look at her legs! They're so long]

[Forget her legs, look at her body fuck!!!!]

[Should I ask for her number?]

[Dude you have no chance]

[So? It's worth a shot]

Amara paid no attention to the incessant chatter surrounding her because her eyes were too busy darting from one place to another; trying to take in everything in front of her. The large contraptions in the area filled her with awe.

Though Amara paid no mind to the people discussing her, the man beside her heard everything. He viciously glared at anyone who even hinted at the idea of trying to hit on Amara. Right now he largely resembled a guard dog that barked at anyone who came close to his owner.

The people who received his death glares couldn't help but shudder, and quickly scurried away. Austin wrapped his arm around her waist to show any pesky flies that had any ideas that she was taken.

.

.

Thirty minutes into their date they had walked and stopped by many stalls, Amara's hands were fully occupied by food and other things that she was even mildly curious about. Austin simply stood by her side and watched her with tender loving eyes. The small smile that on her face was enough of a reward for him, his heart was already overflowing with satisfaction that he was able to make her happy.

The two stopped by a table to rest when Austin noticed that Amara has started feeling worn out. He looked through the things they bought to see if they had bought any water, it was quite a hot day so it was easy to be dehydrated. It was then that he then remembered that Amara was a siren and needed water to survive, this got him a little panicked. He told Amara to wait a little bit before putting down his things and running off to quickly buy some water.

Amara patiently sat down and observed the many humans that flooded this place. She wondered how those vicious and ugly creatures could create such wondrous things. Have they changed? Or maybe they weren't as bad as the stories made them out to be.

While she was deep in thought, three men began coming closer towards her. They had noticed Amara from the moment she appeared and desperately wanted to approach her. They patiently waited until the scary man beside her left before taking the opportunity to talk to her. The three men were relatively good looking if you were to use human standards to measure their attractiveness. It was probably what explained the confidence they had to walk up to her.

"Hi there beautiful," the man said flirtatiously. The man had platinum hair and was the best looking one out of the group. He put on his most charming smile that had never failed him before but was still met with silence.

Amara ignored him, not even lifting her head to look at him. She clearly showed her disinterest but it looks like the group of three didn't take the hint.

"Come and hang out with us, we'll definitely show you a good time," said another man with black hair and piercings. Amara continued to ignore them but this did not dishearten the group of men, they simply thought that she was playing hard to get. Up until now, they have never come across a girl who had rejected them and so were confident that they'd "hook" this one as well. Of course, the girls before couldn't even compare to Amara in terms of appearance.

The black-haired man leaned in, and just as he was about to caress her cheek his arm was suddenly grabbed by someone behind him. Even before he could turn around he could feel the murderous aura from that person and his body began to tremble before he was pushed to the ground.

"Touch her and I'll break your arm," his voice was dark and every one word carried a hint of murderous intent. The three men gulped in fear.

"W-hat the hell!" Said the third man who kept quiet this entire time.

Austin ferociously glared at him causing him to shut up immediately, the man's face turned red from humiliation 'This bastard dares look down on him!'

The people who heard the commotion couldn't help but peek at the situation. one look and they could immediately tell what was going on 'ah that poor man must've hit on that beautiful lady not knowing that she had a boyfriend.'

The black-haired man that was roughly thrown to the ground clenched his fists and rushed towards Austin trying tp punch him, but how could a human ever defeat a wolf?

Austin merely tilted his head to the side to avoid the punch and elbowed him in the stomach, not even using 1/4 of his strength. The man immediately gasped as the air was knocked out of him before falling to his back. He held his stomach in pain, unable to make any other sounds except gasps.

The two other men were overwhelmed by his strength and knew they couldn't beat him so they quickly got the black-haired and ran.
