41 Trust

Heng Huan wasn't expecting this sudden question and was taken aback. He stayed silent for a moment, thinking about how to reply to her question, " Asking me that question won't get you anywhere because even myself doesn't know why I have so much confidence in you..."

Hearing no response from Heng Huan, Ting Mei hesitantly reformed her question, " Why do you trust me so much?"

This time, Heng Huan completely froze, " Trust..., it has been a long time since I have heard this word..."

In his entire lifetime, he had never displayed trust for anybody, not even his own mother. His co-workers were a bit trusted but have he ever completely trusted someone? He would like to believe that he did but he doesn't. His world wasn't necessarily the cleanest and it was normal, living in a fearful environment, it was not surprising to check twice if there was someone stabbing your back and not to say everything to the other but it seems like his case was very profound. For him, total trust and confidence in someone never existed... until this moment. He himself doubted what trust really meant but when Ting Mei mentioned it, he might have felt it a bit. Compared to other times, he didn't calculate the rate of success of his action and somehow, naturally was sure that he did the right decision and was a hundred percent sure that Ting Mei would pass.

His lips slowly curved up into a charming smile, " Instincts."

Hearing his simple and direct answer, Ting Mei was shocked, " This man trust me because of his instincts?"

Ting Mei let out a soft chuckle. This man was definitely mysterious and maybe dangerous but she couldn't help but find him interesting.

" Well, I hope to not deceive you!" replied softly Ting Mei in a lighter tone.

" I'm sure you will not." firmly validated Heng Huan with a calm voice.

A small smile appeared on Ting Mei and Heng Huan's faces.

" Is there something else M. Heng?" asked Ting Mei, ready to end the call.

" Yes, I would like to ask you where do you want to go to celebrate for passing your audition? I will probably be free two days after your audition. " addressed Heng Huan in a natural tone.

Ting Mei blinked a few times and gasped, " Sh*t! I completely forgot!"

Ting Mei carefully avoided to divulge her thoughts and replied in a nonchalant voice, " Doesn't matter to me."

" I see... Then we will decide on the day we go." casually answered Heng Huan.

" Oh...the day..." mumbled softly Ting Mei under her breath.

Even though it wasn't loud, Heng Huan still caught it on his side of the line, " Yes, I will come to pick you up at 9 am."

Ting Mei was shocked, " He is coming to pick me up at nine? Isn't a bit too early? And is it the whole day? I thought it was going to be a quick coffee or something like that. No, more importantly, why does it sound like a date?"

" Sure..." hesitated Ting Mei.

Hearing her shy and cute reply, Heng Huan's heart melted a bit, " Then it's set, see you in two days." calmly finished Heng Huan.

"Yes...M. Heng, thank you for your trust, see you in two days and goodnight." quickly rushed Ting Mei before abruptly cutting the line.

" OMG, that was so awkward!" sighed Ting Mei while putting her phone away.

She closed the star lamp beside her bed and dived into a deep sleep. That night, she didn't know why but she fell asleep in a happy mood.

While on the other end, Heng Huan's heart just received a huge blow, not because he was cut off but because of Ting Mei's sweet and shy reply: he felt his heart flutter.

" Thank you for your trust and goodnight... Oh god... Why does she have to be this cute?" grinned Heng Huan.

That night, he also fell asleep in a happy mood.
