Status Screen

Even after a couple of years passed, the stalemate nevertheless continued. As a result, someone who came from a poor family like Luke couldn't afford even the cheapest potion. Luke's suffering didn't stop at that. His father which the pillar of the family, suddenly got himself into an accident and must go through many treatments.

Even now, Luke's father is still being treated in the hospital, while Luke's mother does house chores for a different family to support the family. Luke at first wanted to help lessen their family burden by working at such a young age, but his mother told him to focus on the study. Of course, as a diligent student and filial son, Luke always did his best at study. As a result, many teachers praised him and used him as an example of a model student. Unfortunately, some of the students thinking the opposite and start harassing him from that day onward.

Because Luke always soft-hearted, he didn't dare to report this matter to school and let himself get beaten by some bad students. That sometimes leads him to be unconscious for half-day.

That nightmare continues until yesterday. Although Luke is sick, he still attends school because he wants to fulfill his parents' expectations. As usual, the bully ordered him around like lackeys. But because his mind was in a mess, he unconsciously refused their order harshly. Luke even cursed them badly on their faces making their face red in anger. Before Luke able to registered what words comes from his mouth, he already got beaten fiercely. This time, the bully's leader was angered by his words and started beating Luke more violently than usual.

"Aine Luke" fate already ended that day. When he arrived at his home, he immediately collapsed on his bed. Because of the fever and inner injuries, Luke's body couldn't stay the pain any longer and slowly succumb to the death door. From it on, "Earth Luke" possessed the "Aine Luke."

Luke's fist involuntarily clenched after rearrange his thought. He couldn't believe that the previous Luke suffer hardly. Although part of him blames the previous Luke for being soft-hearted, the current Luke couldn't ignore the fact that the previous Luke dead was caused because of those bullies.

Taking a deep breath, he suppressed all turmoil feeling within his heart. He was no longer on Earth, and probably he would spend his entire life in Aine. Therefore, he shouldn't be dwelling in sadness at the realization of him living in another world.

'Anyway, it's not that bad living here, right? I at least got parents.' Luke convinced himself.

After sorting all his feeling, Luke turned to the screen notice that he been ignored earlier.

Now Luke could see clearly what's written on that system screen. It turns out that the system screen contains the same information as a game he played before.

Because Luke was curious, he didn't read the information immediately and decided to do some experiments. He thought about closing the screen and the screen immediately disappeared.

'So, the screen didn't need to be physically touched and can be summoned by a mere thought.' Luke concluded in satisfaction.

His gaze then turned to other tabs that had an image of a padlock on it. He tried to open it, but no matter how long he thought, the tabs didn't budge the slightest.

'It seems I need to reach a certain requirement, or else I wouldn't manage to open it for entire life.'

Luke then remembered when he woke up. He receives a kind of notification of reward. Luke start thinking about that notification, and the screen in front of him changed into the reward notification that previously appeared before him.

Luke slapped his own forehead upon seeing the last sentence. Is there even exist a person that would reject their own reward? Without hesitation, he chooses the accept option.

In a moment, his injuries on both inside and outside are slowly recovered. He glanced at the bruises located on his right arm that slowly gone. The process was quick but not all his injuries recovered because the reward only mentioned 25% status recovery. But Luke still felt thankful for the system. If it were not for it, he would likely stay in his bed for a week.

Before Luke able to say anything, the system screen before him changed.

'That's a lot of quests.' Luke silently thought.

Upon done to memorize the whole task, Luke rose up from his bed and tidying it up. Afterward, he comes out of his room to search for medicine. Luke start rummaged through his memories about where the medicine was located. Fortunately, it didn't take him long to find it. The medicine was on the cabinet beside the refrigerator.

He took the fever medicine and stride to the kitchen to grab a cup of water. He eats the medicine and at the same time drinks the water he has been pouring into his cup.

Because Luke still feels slightly unwell, he immediately went to his bedroom to catch up on sleep. Luke swiftly collapsed on his bed comfortably and closed his eyes. Shortly, his chest rising up and down, indicating Luke has already gone into dreamland.
