"Oooh! The boss texted."

[Hey guys! I'm giving you all a day off from work. Since it's Friday, you can come back next week. Have a good time!]

"Yes!"

[Hey Babe! Let's meet tomorrow. I got a day off from work. We could go on a date or watch a movie, Which one would you like?]

"It's five minutes already. Why isn't he replying yet? Maybe he didn't get it? I'll just text him again."

[I'm sorry. I don't have time for you anymore. I don't think you deserve it.]

"What in the world? It's been barely ten minutes. What could've gone wrong in that small amount of time?"

Everything! Everything could've gone wrong! Did you know, in less than a blink of an eye, a relationship can either be made or broken, a life, created or destroyed and chances can be used or abused.

And where does time stand in the midst of this chaos? Really, it's just business as usual for time. You could be drowning in soup in this moment or winning a gold medal in Olympic swimming the next, for all it cares.

Time is ruthless! I begged for a break from my poor, exhausting life. I asked for time to stop and let me catch up first. But guess what? Time waits for no one.

For me, the universe is simply matter sleeping on the intricately woven mat of time and space. Where do we put us humans? Of course, we are made of matter, and every one of us matters. But which controls which? Are we the masters of time? Is time the master of fate? Or is it space?

Truly speaking, You can't make space for someone or something if you don't have the time to do it, and every millisecond matters. One can't afford to lose an opportunity, each one is as precious as the next one.

"Perhaps that's what happened to me. I missed the chance at getting an affirmative reply. Maybe I was late for a nanosecond. Can you even count that with your fingers? Don't know, honestly. At first, I thought it was a misstep in my part of communication. Then it dawned on me; time forgot to wait for me just like I waited for him. "

There's a lot of debate on what is the best thing to do with our time. I chose to wait for the comfort of a reply. A reply that would nullify the anguish and placate the pain. It hasn't come yet but I hope it does. I know some of you will say that what I've been doing is not the best way to go. I halfway agree with you. But I guess I can't stop now, I'm in it way too deep I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just a little bit more...

As a matter of fact, we are just microscopic plankton floating in the ocean of time and space with no choice but to go with the flow. Planktons can range in size anywhere from 1 nanometer to 1 millimeter. Sure it doesn't compare to the actual size of a human. But you get the idea. There's millions of fish and billions planktons in the ocean, and the ocean just as vast. You're never gonna be the only one a fish would eat, it's just not enough. And there's plenty of time and space for 'other things'.

"It seems I've been thinking too much. I'm so sleepy."

"Huh? I-Is that you H-Honey? You remembered me! You came back! You know, I missed you so much so I texted you a lot. But you never replied. Have you read them? Here they are."

[Hey cutie! Please reply]

[I'm so bored. Have you eaten already? We should go out for lunch together soon]

[Hey! Whaddya say? I'll even treat you!]

[Don't be mad anymore, Darling. I'm not mad at you at all.]

[I'm so lonely. I wanna talk to you.]

[Y'know I had a dream last night. I still remember you weren't in it. I'm shocked too.]

[I'm such a chatterbox even on texts]

[wish you were here <3 <3 ]

[I'm sorry for bothering you. It's just that I'm bothered too. My dreams are becoming more realistic too. I just wish I can tell you about them but I just can't]

"And these are my last and probably my most important texts to you."

[I decided I should tell you more about it since you are my darling. P.S. I love you a million times.]

[There's always this looming cloud of darkness chasing me away, wanting to devour me. I keep on running but it always follows right behind me. I can't seem to get rid of it, as if it's the end of....]

"AAAAAHHHH!! Get away from me! Please don't tie me up. I promise I won't do anything. NOOOOO!! PLEASE!! I'm not crazy. I know he's coming for me. Honey! Hurry up, please! I don't have much time left."

Tick! Tock! Tick! Tock!

"Time is up! You're too late."

Hello Readers!

This piece is originally a declamation piece I did for a classroom performance. I wrote it and performed it myself. It was soooo cringy. Because I know I did not do the best job to perform this, I want to make this into a story to give justice to the ink I used to write it.

I hope you like it,

carawr
