THE BOX

The rotating machine was a red colored hollow metal tank. From the right opposite of that machine there kept a huge square shaped solar panel. I thought that the connection of that rotating machine and the power supply of this building is only by this panel. A small board which hanged on a nail which looked outside from the wall. A quote was loaded as 'save electricity.' I wondered. The two of them standing simply by hanging the bottle bag and face full of waiting for the arrival of the man from inside of that building.

Mani moved nearer to that machine and moved his arm nearer to that machine. An alarm started to shout. But Mani didn't touch that anymore. He stepped back with a fear.

A man with a muscular body and an abnormal height also looked blackish. His hand holds a medical kit and with an eye which asked what happened? He came in front of them.

'We…' Ram made the man to remember.

'what happened to your house… a quite changes that visible in front of my vision… and what is this….? The machine…?' Ram asked the man with a wondering voice.

'Oh… I started to respect the electricity and water… that's why I made my own solar panel. And, this machine is a recycling machine which recycles plastics and polyethene bags also. I'm using those recycling products for my inventions also.' He answered manly. What a polite man he is?

'Ok then, what is this for?' Mani asked Sathish with a doubtful eye. His doubts were unstoppable forever.

'Oh… it is for first aid… It's not for you…'

'for whom?' Ram too joined the club of Mani.

'for birds… yesterday a crow was dead by this machine because, if you touch it, a high-power pass through your body make you to ready for the death. There was a mistake in this machine I need to clear it. I must… that's why I set an alarm with a sensor. That save the birds by scaring them by the sound.'

The faces of them filled with wonder and I too have a doubt that, 'is he a human… he is a genius' I answered the doubt myself.

'I went outside this early morning to pick some plastic bottles and for some metal parts' he guided them the direction of the bag which he used to pick bottles and metal parts. The bag was filled mostly with the waste metals.

Ram landed the bag full of bottles safely. Sathish went inside the house for money to pay them. Mani stared abnormally against the bag which was filled almost by metals.

Sathish came outside by holding his purse tightly. He opened his purse and took two pieces of hundred-rupee notes.

'here your payment… 'he extended his arm which holding those hundred-rupee notes. Ram received the cash and perfectly insert the notes into his shirt pocket safely.

'Didn't you attend the meeting of Murugan? Which is going on now at naalroad.'

'I didn't hear it… and also I don't like to attend the meeting of Murugan. He is a funny guy. The truth is Murugan can't speak the truth there. That's why…'

'Ok… MR… good bye…' the two of them started their journey from there. Mani hold the bag which is empty and Ram who hold his cloth bundle over his back. They walked across the streets. Every street was loaded by the poster about that box over the walls. At that mean time, the radio radiated. Again, the voice of a lady.

'Government got that box! A man who named as Saravanan delivered the box to the government. He was announced as a guest for the meeting. MR. Murugan announced about the meeting by today at 2: 00 pm.'

'What the hell is that box is…' said Mani.

'The honor of the government to the man, only for a box. It's too strange and foolish…' said Ram who felt pity about the government. They crossed the bridge named as one feet bridge. The radio which is in the cloth bundle started radiating. The peculiar and sweat voice of a lady radiated from the radio, 'Time is afternoon 1:50 pm. Let take an interview from our leader of the nation MR. Murugan. Sir… how do you feeling, you got this wonderful, mighty and powerful device. I think it is. How can you help your peoples with this, and what is the purpose of this device and how it works? Yeah, girl… as your words, this device is a mighty device. It is going to be a very much useful and important part in our life that I give you a guarantee to you. The only thing is peoples want to trust me. If they invest their trust with me, I'm ready to say there will be a very good future that awaits our country. The main thing is, the device's work. It could be….'

Mani turned off the radio by taking it from the cloth bundle.

'hey… it is an important message about the device but you spoiled it' Ram raised against Mani and simply stared for a while.

'Ram, I did this because… I thought that you don't like this person anymore… so…'

Ram turned his head from him and started walking faster. Mani tried to keep the distance closer between them. After a while, they entered into the park which was located at Beeman street, a large park filled with huge number of gorgeous and colorful flowers. The name 'Gandhi park' was loaded over a wooden board that hung between the two pillars of the entrance. The two boys were placed their seats over the wooden bench which expressed the immobile state at the left corner of the park.

Mani laid over the full wooden bench because of the tired. He acted like the prisoner who stand for years. After watching his act, Ram gave a blow by a stick which rest near to him. Mani stood up with a painful buttock and he ran all over the area of a part of that park. Ram gently seated his seat over the bench and laughed loudly like a one eyed giant. Then, Mani too seated his seat over bench but with a staring eyes against Ram.

'Is it pains?' Ram asked with a chuckle but Mani didn't change his transformation from the staring transform against Ram. Mani said shut up by the gesture by his hand. A silence maintained between them for a while. It was a long silence which rented between them.

'I think the watchman was dead…' said Mani with an enjoyable slang.

'why are you thinking like that…' Ram too excited to know about the watchman, was he really rested in peace.

'I couldn't see him anywhere throughout this park… that's why…'

'If your prediction is correct, we could freely roam around this park forever…' said ram, his face expressed the highly excited state of happiness. Their faces glowed like a thousand-watt bulb for their prediction. The giggling sound of them seems like disturbing others who seated opposite and next to them. By the way of giggling, Mani asked a question that acted vulnerable to Ram.

'Ram… how you came to sleep over the roads? What happened to you? And your family?'

'Don't ask that…' Ram stood up from the bench and moved for few steps. Mani moved to him and asked about the happened matter softly by hold his hand. Mani pulled Ram towards him by asking the incident. He could see the tears that float over his cheeks and chin. The eye turned to red.

'Sorry to ask you about that… forgive me…' said Mani politely.

'Never mind… the tears need to go outside from me as an evil that leaving from my heart. I will say it for you... it was an unbearable incident to me…' Ram started to tell about his melancholic flashback.

'August 15th Independence Day. All of the schools in this city loaded the Tri colored flag. Town higher secondary school, one of the great schools in this city. I studied eighth standard in that school. My school too loaded the Tri colored flag on that day. The wheel which consists twenty-four spokes located at the center of the flag named Dharma chakra waved bravely together with the flag. It was a majestic look twinkled from the flag. All the students in the school were pinned with a small paper tri colored flag over the shirt pocket of them that also includes me.

After the festival I tasted the candies which was provided from the school. I walked towards my house with full of happiness and joy. I prepared me to tell the story about the speeches of the officials from the foreign countries and the dances of the girls and the valuable debate to my mum. I kept some candies for her and a small paper tri colored flag and pin for her. I entered into the house with a scream, 'Ammmaaa' the hall was empty. The sound of grinder grinded my ears. I put forward my steps slowly towards the kitchen. The kitchen was left alone but the grinder, it worked hardly for mum. Finally, I approached the terrace of my small house. It was also a failure attempt. I walked towards the bathroom which located inside the bedroom that I used very often. I opened the door of the bedroom, my heart and my mind and my soul was broken. It felt like a thunder that fell on my head. My lovable mum and my dad, he was a friend and a respectful person, I haven't seen anyone else like my dad was hanging in the fan. I felt that I was lost the two precious stones from my life. I started shouted across the streets. I lose the candies and the tri colored flag from my hand. No one came forward to ask a word about the incident that happened in my house.

A group of men who came from the van rushed into my house and few men who belong to that group threw my lovable mum and dad's bodies to the road and some of the men who broke up the house and took a piece of paper from the cupboard which was a farm field bond. A gentle muscled tall man with a bushy mustache and a bald black skinned person stood in front of me. They demanded me to sign on a bond. As a thirteen-year-old boy, I did it. A man who started to read the bond, 'because of the credit for the farm field Rs.3000, which was received by R. Saravanan on May 1 2000. The time given to repay the amount with the interests was ended. because of unpaid amount and the interests, as a word of MR. Saravanan, the house is belonging to MR. Arunachalam. Because of the suicide of MR. Saravanan and by considering the life of the boy, the interest amount was cancelled but the farm field was taken by MR. Arunachalam. If the boy needed the field, he is supposed to pay the credit amount without the interest.'

I know about my dad, he won't kneel to somebody for some credits. As a thirteen-year-old boy, I couldn't say anything. My relatives didn't come forward to take me. Because of the credit that my dad didn't received from the two persons. I could remember an incident that done last Sunday at the fourth street. I heard about that incident. That house was broken up by these same group of men. The boy who from that house lost his father and mother as like as me. After few days, the boy disappeared. At that moment I couldn't think anything. That was an out of syllabus to my age. But now I could realize that the two persons Murugan and arunachalam planned and made the incident happen and looted so many peoples farm fields and broke the dreams of the children from the houses they looted. They have lands that looted from the peoples, they have money the holy shit also looted from the peoples and they didn't stopped looting so many innocent girls and their lives from them. They have all these stuffs but their greed didn't leave them. Now they received that stupid shit box. The god has no mercy.'

By the way of Ram's melancholic words, the radio started to radiated. Again, the lady's peculiar voice sounded though the radio.

'flash news, the time is 2:15pm at the meeting hall the members of the conference include the higher officials Mr. Murugan and Mr. Arunachalam had died mysteriously and the person who delivered the box was gone with the box. The nation was in tragedy. A CCTV footage was obtained from that meeting hall. The person named Saravanan, killed all the members by a clap and he cut off the heads of the officials. It was a brutal attack.'

The incident must be a planned by the killer. The police men started the investigation against Saravanan who delivered the box to the government.'

Ram and Mani danced to the sky and the earth. They danced with a random step. Their faces and teeth glittered than the diamond. Ram raised his hands with a clutched finger shouted his victorious words, 'God has mercy…God has mercy…' he shed the happy tears from his eyes and hugged Mani with a joy.

At that moment, few peoples who wore white shirt and white dhoti started breaking the shops that located outside the park. And few peoples screamed, 'the pillar of our nation had fallen… Murugan… Murugan… praise the leader….' The men who breaking the shops and others snubbed the shop keepers to close the shops. The peoples ran randomly here and there afraid of those men who having knives and wooden rod. Some men entered into the park and started broke up the benches and flower pots which rest on the ground. The half of the garden was destroyed. A single man who hold a wooden rod ran towards Ram and Mani with huge ferociousness. Ram watched the man who coming towards them.

'Mani…. Hey… let's move from here… come on…. Hurry hurry…' he shouted. The crowd screamed and ran away from there. They easily overtaken Ram and Mani with fast legs. Ram and Mani started their legs to set the fire. One of the persons from the crowd, just knocked from the back side while running with a fear. Mani landed on the ground with a critical velocity. The empty bag which he holds had flew from him. In that pressure Ram turned and searched around for him. An object which scattered from the bag. Mani picked that object and keep that object barely in his hand and ran towards Ram. Mani reached Ram by his backside while Ram searching for Mani. Mani patted his hand over his shoulder and Ram turned towards him.

'where did you….?'

'I slipped over the ground…' he said with a long breathe.

'what is that in your hand…?'

Mani started his legs on fire by dragging Ram by his hand. Ram and Mani reached the exit. At that time, the object was knocked by the runners like them. Ram noticed the green colored glowing over the object. Ram demanded to watch out his hand which hold the object. When Mani and Ram started concentrating on the object, they slipped down to the ground by a small stone decorator which was located at the exit of the park.

They can't keep balance there. The falling of them to the ground was unstoppable. After reaching the ground the object which was hold by Mani was scattered over the ground with a green colored glow. Ram stood up by tapping his knee where the sand and dust which sediment over it. Mani can't stand by his own because of the wound which happened over his right knee and leg. He blooded slightly. Ram helped Mani to stood up. By holding Mani's hand over his shoulder, Ram took the object which was still glowed the green light brightly.

'The box…!' asked Ram with full of wonder.

'yes… of course… the box…'

Ram hold the box which was printed on the posters which was posted over the walls of the city. It was an unexpected surprise to Ram. He wondered a lot.

'ho… how did you get it…? And where did you get it from…? Where…?' Ram couldn't keep quiet at that moment. He burst with a quest for the first time.

'I… I… actually I took it from Mr. Sathish's house, from his bag which contains metals. This box was found at the top of that bag. I took it by a resemblance of that we see before on a poster over a wall and in a railway station. That's why I took it from him.'

By the way of saying, the light from the box was dimmed and attained its normal stage as a non-glowing state. The number which appeared over the box. It was a two-digit number.

'58…' said Ram with full excitement.

With so many collapses they lifted their head towards the world. There awaited a surprise to them. They wondered about their city with a large opened mouth.
