5 Chapter 5 - The New World: A Beginning

"Number 58!" One of the sect elders in charge of the competition shouted out the numbers of the contestants and both of them jumped onto the field.

"Take a bow! Begin!" The elders shouted out each word separately, and then the two disciples began to fight.

About 16 hours had passed since the start of the competition, but Xin Yang 's excitement was getting stronger and stronger.

'I-I've never seen anybody fight like this in my whole life, my turns getting closer, can I fight like them?'

'I hope my training pays off, I know I'm stronger than most of them, no normal disciple can have 9,000 Jin at the 6th stage of Body Tempering'

Xin Yang glanced at what he was holding. A wooden card with his name and number written on it

''Name. Xin Yang

Number: 60

'Almost, 2 more fights and I'm next'

"The winner, Fang Lin!"

The guy named Fang Lin was a normal guy, everything about him was normal ... His opponent was too. Both of them were disheveled, with torn clothes and breathing heavily.

'Alright old man, announce the next match, I can't wait to try these new techniques', Xin Yang thought with an excited look on his face, his imagination was so rich that he thought he would win this match, but fate planned otherwise.

"Number 59!"

All the elders sitting there in the seats of the sect elders overseeing the arena, or rather amusing themselves by watching young idiotic disciples bash each other with embarrassing to look at techniques with pitiful proficiency, all the elders sitting there frowned.

''Could it be. Do any of you feel something?'' One elder asked another telepathically.

''I do, it seems like a powerful cultivator is coming this way'' one of the elders answered him.

''I don't feel anything, what are you two talking about?" The other one said with a puzzled expression.

"No, I feel it too, but it's very faint" said the last elder, frowning while stroking his long beard.

While they were discussing their problem, the 59th battle was over and Yang Xin could barely contain his excitement, nervousness and anticipation.

'Come on, An-Na!!!' Xin Yang thought, barely able to control himself from jumping into the arena.

"NUMB!!!" Before the Outer Sect Elder could finish calling the next number, the ground began to tremble.

'What's happening? Where is my fight? Come on, who is depriving me of my right to fight!!!' Xin Yang shouted in his heart.

BOOM.

The sound of an explosion came from the air.

Suddenly, a huge pressure came at everyone, even the outer sect elders were not spared.

"BLAH, I heard that you have recruited some outstanding young disciples, I haven't tasted Orange in a really long time." A hoarse voice came from nowhere, sounding like a bolt from the blue.

'Who is that! And what the hell is wrong with his vocal cords!!!' Xin Yang thought, surprise written all over his face, not just his, but everyone's.

No one would think that someone would break into a 6Th ranked sect, who would dare to do that? The answer, of course, was someone who was extremely powerful.

"Oops, these are green, and yellow, too many of these today, I want something fresh, oh, and who is the newly appointed Sect Master?" The hoarse voice said, as the Plundering Demon surveyed the outer sect disciples with a sneer on his face. The Sect Master, a middle-aged man with a strong aura, stepped forward, his fists clenched in anger.

"You're not welcome here, Plundering Demon. Leave now or face the consequences," the Sect Master growled, his voice filled with anger and determination.

The Plundering Demon let out a cackle, his eyes gleaming with a cruel light. "Hehe, come on, is this the way you talk to your seniors? Where's your honor as the hero of a 1,000 li? Hehehe," he taunted, his laughter echoing through the arena.

The Sect Master gritted his teeth. "You're not my senior, Master never acknowledged your ways," he spat, his fists still clenched.

"Ah, come on, little Li, you know it's fun to plunder the talent from those so-called geniuses, don't you think? Heh heh heh, the look on their faces when they find out they can no longer cultivate, heh heh heh," the Plundering Demon continued, his voice filled with a twisted glee.

The Sect Master's face twisted in fury. "Don't you dare!!!" he shouted, rushing towards the Plundering Demon.

As the Sect Master charged towards the demon, the Plundering Demon unleashed his abilities. A powerful wave of energy burst forth from his body, engulfing the Sect Master and sending him flying backwards. The force of the attack caused the ground to shake and the disciples to scream in fear.

The Plundering Demon continued his assault, unleashing a barrage of attacks that decimated the sect's buildings and caused the outer sect disciples to flee in terror. Xin Yang, who had been watching the battle from behind the tournament barrier, realized that he had to act fast if he wanted to survive. He quickly scanned the area for a way out, but was dismayed to find that an elder had erected a barrier, trapping them all inside.

"Old man, I came here only a few months ago, I have no attachment to this place," Xin Yang thought, as he desperately searched for a way out. But before he could make a move, a mysterious hand appeared out of nowhere, grabbed Song Chang and disappeared, unnoticed by the demon or anyone else.

The Plundering Demon continued his ruthless assault, destroying everything in his path and leaving death and destruction in his wake. In the end, he plundered the abilities of the two orange-level geniuses that turned out to only have a wisp of orange talent, and laughed maniacally as he left the sect in ruins.

As Xin Yang watched the demon leave, he couldn't help but mutter to himself, "Damn, I sure am lucky to have survived this massacre by the skin of my teeth, wait, do teeth have skin?" He knew that he had to put as much distance between himself and the sect as possible, and so he quickly changed into some new clothes he found nearby and made his escape. He knew that he couldn't dwell on the past, he had to focus on surviving and finding a new place to call home. As he made his way into the wilderness, he couldn't help but think about Song Chang's mysterious disappearance and wonder what had happened to him. But for now, all he could do was keep moving forward and try to make the best of a bad situation.

After narrowly escaping the destruction of his sect, Xin Yang found himself wandering aimlessly through the forest. His mind was a jumbled mess of thoughts and emotions as he tried to process what had just happened. He couldn't believe that his home, the place he had trained and grown for the past few months, was now nothing but rubble.

As he walked, he couldn't help but question how he had managed to survive. He remembered the barrier that had been erected by one of the sect elders, blocking off the only exit from the arena. It was this barrier that had protected him from the destruction and allowed him to escape.

With nothing but the clothes on his back and the wooden card with his name and number on it, Xin Yang knew he had to find a new place to stay and start over. He decided to head towards the nearest city, which he remembered passing by on his way to the sect.

As he walked, he couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt and failure. He couldn't help but think that if he had been stronger, maybe he could have helped defend the sect or at least saved more of his fellow disciples.

When he finally reached the city, he couldn't go inside, it seemed like the city gates where at the other end. So, he walked into the forest next to the city. As he made his way deeper into the forest, he came across a beast that resembled a dog, with the only difference being its robust body and cat-like ears.

Sensing someone behind it, the beast turned around and stared at Xin Yang with a fierce gaze. But Xin Yang wasn't intimidated, he was a cultivator and he could defend himself. He prepared to fight, but before he could even make a move, the beast suddenly ran off into the forest.

Xin Yang couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over him. He knew that he needed to start thinking about his next move, but for now, he needed to rest and gather his thoughts. He found a secluded spot in the forest, sat down and closed his eyes, taking deep breaths and trying to calm his racing mind.

He took a moment to reflect on his current situation and thought of his next step, he would need to find a way to survive, a new sect to join or maybe he could start his own sect, but before that, he needed to find a place to stay, maybe find a job in the city, and gather resources.

Xin Yang walked towards the city gates, his heart pounding with uncertainty. He knew that he needed to be prepared for any potential dangers that may come his way. He made a mental note to himself to practice and master his Void Shattering Fist, in order to protect himself and make it to the city safely.

But little did he know, fate had other plans for him. As he walked through the forest, a beast resembling a dog with robust body and cat-like ears sneak attacked him from behind. Xin Yang, caught off guard, stumbled and fell to the ground.

The beast let out a menacing growl as it prepared to strike again. Xin Yang quickly gathered himself, his mind racing as he thought of a way to defend himself. He remembered the Void Shattering Fist, the technique he had been practicing ever since he arrived in this world.

With a deep breath, he channeled his inner energy into his fist and let out a powerful punch. The beast was caught off guard and was sent flying backwards, letting out a pained yelp. The beast quickly regained its footing and charged towards Xin Yang with a ferocious roar.

Xin Yang was ready for it, he sidestepped the beast's charge and delivered a swift kick to its side, causing the beast to stumble. He then followed up with a swift punch to the beast's face, causing it to stumble backwards. The beast let out a pained growl as it shook its head, trying to clear the dizziness.

Xin Yang seized the opportunity and delivered a powerful punch to the beast's chest, causing it to let out a final pained yelp before falling to the ground, dead.

Letting out a sigh of relief, Xin Yang's heart pounding with adrenaline. He knew that this was only the first of many battles he would face in this new world. He made a mental note to himself to not let his guard down and to continue honing his skills. He then approached the beast's corpse, and using his bare hands, began to carefully remove the meat from the beast's body. He used rocks and branches found in the forest to create a makeshift tool to aid him in the process. Despite the lack of proper equipment, Xin Yang was able to collect a significant amount of meat, storing it in a bag made from the beast's own hide. He then continued on his journey towards the city, unsure of what lay ahead but determined to face it head on.

As Xin Yang approached the city gates, he couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. The city was bustling with activity, people of all shapes and sizes walked the streets, some dressed in colorful robes, others in simple clothing. The streets were lined with vendors selling various goods, the aroma of exotic foods filled the air. Xin Yang took a deep breath, feeling a mix of excitement and uncertainty.

As Xin Yang walked through the city gates, he was greeted by a group of guards. They immediately noticed his tattered clothes and the blood stains on them, and asked him what had happened. Xin Yang explained the encounter with the beast in the forest and how he had defended himself. The guards were surprised to find out that he was a cultivator, and asked him to touch a small orb that they had on hand. The orb lit up, indicating that he was not a registered criminal.

The guards then informed Xin Yang of the basic rules of the city, such as not causing trouble and not revealing his cultivation abilities in public. They also gave him a map of the city and pointed out the locations of the various markets, inns, and other places of interest. Xin Yang thanked the guards and set out to explore the city, his mind filled with wonder and excitement at all the new sights and sounds around him. He was determined to make the most of his new surroundings and learn all he could about this new world. As he walked the streets, he made mental notes of the different shops and buildings, determined to familiarize himself with the city as quickly as possible. He knew that this was a new chapter in his life, and he was eager to see what it had in store for him.
