A wizard, a seer, and the demon

"Tell me again Blind One, what are my chances of calling a being of might and magic who can elevate my own powers?" A female in a dark silk gown asked from the throne. Her black wings tinged with a metallic red sheen that matched the long braided hair seen by the fire lights floating about the chamber.

In a slow raspy voice the old blind woman smiles and spits out. " calling a contractor is easy. Finding one that will meet your expectations is nearly impossible my Queen. Do not rush things. For the ties that bind only grow stronger with time." The old crone takes a few steps to a low styled chair made from blackened vines. The white marble flooring a stark contrast to the dark grey stones that line the castle walls. A young wizard works nearby completing a summoning circle spell.

The Queen who looks like some demonic succubus in silks as black as night waits impatiently while the wizard toils.

A spell book of runes, a magical red thread, a bow and lastly a small mana orb was placed in the center. This represented the skills and strengths of the entity they wanted to summon to this world.

"My lady Queen it is done. All you have to do is.."

The Queen who had been silently mulling over the words of the crone before snapped out of her thoughts and interrupted the wizard. " Imbecile do not assume I know nothing of the process. Begone before our agreement changes and I decide to kill you after all."

The young wizard spares a glance at the crone who only smiled and nodded. A wisp of a voice crawled into the wizards head. "Remember your wards, the prophecy will begin this hour." This voice was not the raspy old voice of the crone but a soft gentle voice. The wizard was a smart fellow and kept his fear in check as he inched backwards. Even after hearing a thump next to his head as the wards activated and curved the blades path to imbed itself into a wall.

The Queen in her excitement had missed the wizards neck with her dagger. Waving her hand the dagger returned and she cut her finger dripping the blood into the bowl. "I Queen Lyllith of the Royal bloodline call forth a contractor" the bowl of blood falls from her grasp as it tips. Spilling its contents into the air. The blood sinks to about three feet above the runic circle inscription. Draining into a copy of the circle as if it was flowing into an invisible mold. the blood flows quickly as the candles light themselves and the items placed in the middle wink out of existence. Once the blood inscription is complete the blood begins to glow and rotate. Faster, brighter, then suddenly its rotational axis shifts to spinning like a coin on a table. A bright flash of light and the spells components disappear.

A body drops out of the now empty space.

The boy slowly rose as the dark queen looks down upon the small figure in utter disgust.

The boy wasn't actually a boy. He was a young man who looked to be about 24 His hair was unremarkable, a dark brown. The young mans eyes however were strange. They shown with knowledge no 24 year old should have experienced. His dark brown eyes were ringed with a crystal blue set of the summoning circle runes which began to fade. The mark of a contractor who has been summoned.

The Queen in her anger at summoning what looked like a frail and weak human suddenly grabbed the young mans neck lifting him up off the ground in a powerful one handed choking grasp. His feet dangling in the air.

The young man grasps her arm and gasps for air as fear surges through his body. Having been given no chance to talk, no explanation of where or why he has been brought here, and now suddenly his life is in danger yet again. He struggles against the power of the dark Queen but her grip is iron and her skin is ice cold. Numbing on contact with his exposed skin.

"This?! This wretch of a creature barely strong enough to walk and let alone fight is supposed to be my contractor? It's not even strong enough to defend itself! Seer what's the meaning of this?"

The Queen turns to the old hag and waits as the boys struggles begin to weaken.

"As I told you, you will summon a strong contractor, but like a flower you will have to cultivate him. Though you have the chance to call another if you so choose, but If you kill him you will not be able to summon another, the resources to do so will be out of your reach. However if you let him live, his struggles will shift the resources of this world quickly so you may summon again." The blind one rasps on. "Release him."

Anger flashed in the queens eyes.

" you dare to insult me by telling me a Queen what to do?"

"You asked for my sight many times past. Have they not proved useful? You of all people should understand that the future is not set in stone." The old one snickered knowing the truth behind the queens current standing.

While the Queen took a moment relishing the choking and weak attempts of the human trying to get free.

"Fine crone"

The Queen then smiled, and dropped the contractor. "Send him to the dungeon. Let him enjoy the company of the heartless."

"My Queen, may I suggest something other then a horrific end in your dungeon? Your seeress had suggested to keep him alive, that his struggles would shift resources, so why not make use of him as a slave? Trade him." The wizard says out of concern. The young man has no idea what's going on.

"Not a bad idea, a uselessly weak contractor like himself will find a use after all."

The old crone only smiled as she bowed and walked out. The Queen was still in a terrible mood after the failure of this summoning.

The wizard would make his escape having his suggestion heard and accepted. He did not want to chance an invite to the wrath of the Queen anymore.

The Queen walks towards her throne and takes her place. After a few moments of utter silence she speaks quietly to the shadows behind the throne. "Find that wizard. Kill him."

From out of the darkness a voice like bells ring out two words "yes Queen" before the presence in the shadows disappears.
