1 Prologue

Have you ever felt let down by the ones whom you trusted? Maybe who even didn't deserve it, but whom you kept hoping would change, and maybe even open up to you?

Did you feel lonely, whether or not people were around you? Or like the world was against you? Did it feel like you never mattered anymore, when you felt like an alien in your presumed homeland?

Was there ever a time that you felt it'd be better to give up on people, yet at the back of your mind, wanted to give them another chance?

Did you feel like hiding the true you, or even shunning yourself to make life easier for those around you?

Have you ever made yourself feel insignificant just to let people take advantage of you, use you till they were sufficed with their needs fulfilled?

Have you ever wanted a change of life so bad, that you didn't mind changing your own attitude or behaviour, rather, putting on a mask, so you'd get someone to like the 'fake' you?

She's been through all of it. Though it was all transient, just a glimpse of fake happiness was enough for her.

She lost all hope in there being a person who would accept her real self.

All she wanted was to please herself when she was alone. After a while, she guessed she was even happier alone, and turned into a sort of introvert.

Her only escape from the harsh reality of life was books, and it was her lifelong dream to be a writer. She worked on her book every now and then, but it was mostly temporary.

She left most of her past behind her, and likes to believe that she's moved on. She doesn't chase after happiness anymore. She just believes that if it's meant to come, it will.

She kept regretting trying to get people to like her, and striving too hard for it, for the people who didn't even deserve it.

She changed, and hopes it's for the better. She will let people into her life, but only till a certain point, and will be what people want her to be. She can be her real self when alone, after all, in the end, if she doesn't accept herself (which she is still yet to do), she'll be the same as them.
