4 The Start Of Hell

It was now a year since both Izuku's and Diluc's quirks were appraised. People generally picked on Izuku unless Diluc was around. Nobody wanted to be on the bad side of someone they knew would get at least a decent quirk, late-bloomers always did. In fact, the only known double quirk user was a late-bloomer.

However, one person was an exception to that, Katsuki. He had already gotten extremely lucky and was gifted with a great quirk so he didn't need to worry about how strong Diluc would become. However, that didn't mean he was easy pickings.

"Oh, look at the two quirk-less retards!" Katsuki spat venom. Izuku lowered his head in nervousness while Diluc's expression didn't change from his normal one. It was tiring being a kid so his expression was half-way to dead and half-way to beautiful.

Katsuki ran at the two with his quirk ready to fire and his minions just behind him. This was the first time they were trying to bully both Diluc and Izuku at the same time, Katsuki had always semi-respected Diluc for his intelligence so he only now found the balls to attack him. And that would prove to be a mistake.

Diluc simply side-stepped the small explosion and gave Katsuki a good old punch in the guts. Being a child with no pain-tolerance, he went down coughing his guts out. The others flinched slightly but continued their attacks.

One of them extended their arm to try and punch Diluc, he simply dodged it and slammed the long arm against the wall. Although nothing broke, his arm was bruised and that was enough to make the 5-year-old cry.

The last one saw his friend get owned and wisely ran away, Diluc was too lazy to pursue and simply stepped over the two boys as he walked back home. This opened up a whole new world to Izuku who had just seen a quirk-less fight two peer with quirks and win without a scratch. This was usually unheard of except for special cases like a master martial artist against someone with a relatively weak quirk.

They got home. Inko was out at her day job and Izuku went back to the computer room to watch more of All-Might's videos. He didn't have any friends to waste the day away with and Diluc was always busy so Izuku always studied heroes in his free-time.

Tomorrow they would both turn 5 years old, Izuku was excited and Diluc was depressed. He knew that shitty god wouldn't let him go a couple of years without torment if he could help it.

As expected, when he went to sleep, he awoke in a dark abyss. Looking around there was nothing but three names in front of him.

Doom, Dark Souls, Bloodborne.

He knew that he had no hopes of getting out of this, he had already thought of what he'd choose first so this was a no-brainer. He chose Dark Souls.

The reason was simple, Doom didn't have a respawn system integrated as part of the story while Bloodborne may make Diluc go crazy so that was also ruled out.

He pressed on the Dark Souls screen and awoke in a puddle. In front of him was a path that was surrounded by natural stone barriers. He could see a bunch of gravestones in front of him.

He stood up and collected himself. Diluc was currently in an older body, it still had his distinct features other than the fact that he was deathly pale. He understood that he was currently in Dark Souls 3.

Seeing as he only had rags on as clothing, Diluc correctly assumed that he was the 'Deprived'/'Waste of Skin' class. He knew that he'd be here until he woke up, although he doesn't know how long that'll take.

Diluc realized he had a wooden club in his right hand and a wooden shield in his left, both of low quality. He steeled himself for what was to come and walked forwards. There were numerous glowing, yellow scratches on the floor.

Unlike in the game, Diluc didn't really know how to read these so he simply kept walking. He saw a broken cauldron-looking thing with a corpse leaning against it, the corpse had a light dignifying an item.

He approached the corpse and found the source of the bright light; it was a small blue flask. The flask promptly disappeared, and a holographic board appeared in its place.

-----------------------------

Diluc opened his 'Equip' menu and found that his shield and club were where they were supposed to be, he had a life ring taking up one of the four 'ring' slots. His immediate inventory was completely empty.

(A.N. Immediate inventory is basically the hotbar.)

Thankfully, he was able to equip his 3 estus flasks (Heals/ Potions). Feeling more prepared than ever, he began walking to the first boss. There was a rotten, zombie-looking man with a dagger in the way.

Diluc began his first combat. He quickly lunged at the grunt. He used all of his force into a strike towards its head. Its skull immediately disconnected from its torso and it fell down, dead.

Diluc was quite underwhelmed. He decided to check his stats to see if there was something different.

--------------------------------

Diluc was surprised. This window was completely different from the normal dark soul's stat page. His stats were less complex, his quirk and race were listed and he had a job slot. It was at this moment when Diluc knew that he'd have to adjust to this new system.

He also realized that his stats were double what they were supposed to be which was most likely a result of Diluc's body being 'unmatched in every possible way'.

(A.N. That's actually Diluc's description. Don't worry, this doesn't mean he'll be OP, this is basically a tool to show that mobs can easily be killed so I can gloss over them.)

He decided that he'd kill and the mobs in this area before continuing on to the bonfire. They offered little resistance, his club easily decapitated any and all mobs in the area. Every time he killed one, he could feel a faint stream of comfort hug his soul, he correctly assumed this was him getting souls from his kills that he could later use.

Diluc also decided that fighting the crystal izard was not a good idea. In Dark Souls 3, these giant crystal lizards were quite difficult to kill at this point, although it was possible, not many attempted it. He didn't see the reason to fight it at the moment and decided to just get to the next bonfire.

He crossed a ledge, if he misplaced his foot once, he'd fall to his doom. Diluc was hardly someone scared of heights; however, you don't need a fear of heights to stay away from places you could fall off and die from. He slowly made his way across, being careful not to misstep.

Finally, he was at the bonfire. He sat down next to it and put his hand in it. He felt a warmth engulf him as fog creeped up and covered his vision. He could no longer see outside. Unluckily, he currently couldn't do anything at this bonfire, so he hopped back up and the fog dissipated.

Diluc slayed his way through the grunts, he was feeling good about the fact that he was currently facing no difficulties whatsoever. His instincts from his life of torment served him well in a world where everything wanted him dead.

He collected the titanite that was on a tall coffin. This would allow him to upgrade weapons later. He got to the boss room without being so much as scratched. Diluc was becoming confident, and that was not a good thing in the Dark Souls world.

The boss room was circular with one side facing out into a mountain range and being completely surrounded in gravestones. In the middle of the room was a suit of armor with a sword stabbed though its chest.

Diluc knew that he was ready. He pulled the sword from the torso of the boss and threw it off to the side. After a second, the suit of armor stood up and got into a fighting stance. Its halberd was ready to tear through Diluc's body.

All of a sudden, the armor lunged out. Its halberd made a WOOSH sound as it shot towards Diluc's torso. He was alarmed, but nevertheless he was able to dodge and counterattack. His club made contact with the armor, it slightly flinched but it was obvious that it didn't take much damage.

Diluc's dance of death would now begin. Iudex Gundyr was a boss that was completely unreadable. He would always combine normal sweeping attacks and then follow them up with kicks and charges. Now that he was a real combatant, his attacks became even more difficult to read.

Diluc found himself getting hit by every 3rd or 4th attack. It was easy to dodge the wide sweep and quick jab with the halberd. It was not so easy to dodge the shoulder charge that sometimes accompanied those attacks.

He wasn't able to use the shield against Iudex, the shield was too brittle and his attacks too heavy to block. Dodging was his only choice.

Diluc had already used 2 of his three estus flasks. Iudex had some plates of his armor chipped off. Underneath, Diluc could see a black mass wriggling.

He could feel that Iudex was just an attack or two away from his second stage. He dodged a sweep attack and watched for a shoulder bash; it didn't come. He attacked with his club when a shoulder bash came crashing into his face, causing a concussion.

Even in his dizzy state, Diluc identified that Iudex had just delayed his shoulder bash. It seems that the attacks were that same as the game but the bosses were able to use it flexibly.

There was one other thing that Diluc didn't think about. He was too wrapped up in the fight and didn't realize that he was currently at the edge of a cliff. With the help of a shoulder bash, his body helplessly got launched off into the endless abyss below.

He felt pain. Shards of stones impaled all over his body. His bones were broken in the fall and some branches pierced his eyelids.

He felt blood dripping from every pore.

After what felt like a year of agony, Diluc woke up next to the bonfire. He felt chills crawl up his spine after realizing what just happened.

This was the second time he has ever died. He wanted to keep it to only two but he knew best that it would increase dramatically.

His next two lives were the same.

The first of the two, he was cleanly bisected as soon as he walked through the fog gate. He didn't even have time to process it.

The second time, he misjudged how much momentum his dodge would produce and landed face first into the ground, allowing the suit of armor to crush his spine, causing his death.

The third time, Diluc was able to get past the first stage. Iudex's black mass exited his body and grew into a malformed amalgamation. The black mass worked with Iudex's body to create a devastating attack that Diluc wouldn't dodge or escape from.

For the rest of the night, Diluc was killed over and over by the black sludge, he had no way of killing it currently.

In the last of his lives, he was about to be impaled by Iudex's halberd when he woke up in a sweat. He escaped the hell-hole known of Dark Souls and was back in a peaceful world.

(A.N. I hope this sets the tone well, I won't dwell on the mobs but the bosses will take a while.)
