1 Gaius Julius Caesar

"Without training, they lacked knowledge. Without knowledge, they lacked confidence. Without confidence, they lacked victory."

Gaius Julius Caesar -

My name was Gaius Julius Caesar, I was a Roman, A true and proud Roman. My country came before my family and anyone else, for my country had made me who I am. A General, a Leader of many. Many that had loved and looked up to me as if I was there very father, the gods had blessed me with my looks and skills. I had remained relatively youthful and virile even in my forties. My daughter Julia had kept me company even if my wife had not been her mother. However, I could not spend much of my time with them as I was mostly sent out to fight the Gaul's.

I was as of now leading thirty thousand men on my campaign against the Helveti, we were marching north. We were to catch the Helveti off guard, but it seems even the gods do not want me to succeed. My illness had grown, each cough, blood would exit my mouth. My body was collapsing in on itself and it was not long before I would die. I had instructed a few men to deliver a letter to my wife to tell her what to do after my death.

Every time my soldiers would enter, a worried look always adorned on their face. It was clear my soldiers had knew of my condition and that I would most likely not live long. When I would wander the camp, many soldiers had came before me. Kissing my hand and offering there blessings, for I was one of their best generals.

I had earned many medals since my numerous conquests, but it seemed that would not keep me satisfied even in my final moments. The people, my soldiers had kept me company no matter the weather. Whether it would be in the downpour of Gaul, or the frigid temperature during the harsh winters, the people had always been with me.

My hands had soon started to wither with each day that passed, I thought it would have simply passed but it seems I must have angered one of the gods and he has placed a curse upon me. A curse that would ensure my death, no matter how slow it's effect was.

My men had grew increasingly worried the more the sickness had dwelled within me, my body was losing it's weight. I had grown increasingly weak, my second in command. His concern had grew day by day. However I pushed forth, marching our troops further north.

We were nearing a river that according to our scouts had a large activity of Gaul presence. Cresting over the hill I saw a large groups of barbarians that were crossing the river, turning to my cavalry I nodded and gave the order for them to smash into the backs of those that had not crossed the river.

My coughing fit still being immense, I had almost fell off my horse twice in a hour. My state of body and mind had dwindled and I would not be surprised if I would not wake up to see the next sun rise. Oh how I would miss it, it was the start of a new day and yet I would end up dead. In the middle of nowhere, although at least I would be surrounded by who I had come to call comrades and close friends.

The cavalry had made quick work of those crossing and the remaining Gaul's simply kept running to where ever they were originally going to travel too. It seemed too easy, as if the gods were rewarding me for my misery. The one they themselves placed upon me after all I had doubt I made any one mad enough to place a damn curse upon me.

We had set up camp as they day was setting, and my body had grown weaker by the minute. My soldiers saying their final words and goodbyes to me for they knew my end was nigh and I would not rise to see the next sun. My body has simply grown too weak to continue working at its peak, the next day and I would simply not be here. My soul would have most likely crossed over by the time my body would be discovered.

Entering my tent, the first to be erected. I stared at my bed, it was comfortable for most of the campaigns although it had nothing on the ones made in Rome. It made do for a campaign, climbing into my bed. I stared around for one final time, my Gladius on the table ready to be handed to my second in command. I closed my eyes for what would be my very last time, I had come to embrace my death and the things that would come after.

It was a calming feeling, It felt like I was being embraced by my mother. However the longer I was in this very darkness the colder that feeling got. It felt like a storm by the time I had spent what could have been a year in that deep darkness. It had gotten colder and colder, my ' body ' grew even weaker. The realm getting darker around me meaning death was not far even in the realm of the dead.

A sudden flash of light struck me and a large Oak door had appeared before me. My surprise evident on my ' face '. Stepping closer the doors opened on their own, revealing a office with books surrounding a desk with a man diligently working. His clothes and style were unique if I had to say. Completely different to that of us Romans.

The man stared up towards me stopping what he was currently doing. A smile forming on his face, " A new client? Welcome, may I get the pleasure to hear your name? " The man had inquired his accent completely different to that of the Greeks of even the many other Romans and yet he spoke perfect Latin, as if it was his own language he had learned from birth.

Stumbling on my words as I looked towards the man I finally had gained the courage to speak, " Gaius Julius Caesar. My Name Is Gaius Julius Caesar. " I spoke puffing my chest out as a sense of pride bringing a chuckle out of the man.

He waved his hands innocently towards me before pointing to the chair, " Please take a seat. It would be my pleasure to start writing your story. " The man grabbed a feather dabbing it in ink before writing my name on the first page of the book. " GAIUS JULIUS CAESAR "

The man extended his open hand towards me seeing his gesture I offered my hand confused to which he shook it back quite firmly if I may add, " I have been assigned to be the author to your story, My name is Vaion Valaries . " He spoke in a polite manner a smile still adorned on his youthful face.

Staring at him confused at the mention of him being a author of my story I opened my mouth only to be shushed by Vaion, " I will make sure your next life is full of battles and fun. " The man chuckled dabbing the feather back into the ink before placing a few more words into the book.

' World : Game Of Thrones.

Looking at the title, I did not like it immediately. Did this mean he was sending me to a world that was going through a power struggle. Surely that would lead to my demise as I had no men to lead, I would surely be assassinated by those around me for even having such scandalous thoughts.

The man turned back to me his face blank before he nodded his head once more, " I'll be giving you a pretty strong power, a system. " The man explained to me before placing notes back in the book.

The man seemed to be concentrated on his book. This allowed for me to look around the shelves that were stacked with books, One having caught my attention. ' The Collapse Of Rome '

A frown visibly forming on my face as I read the book title, ' Rome, would never collapse. Its foundations were solid, no other kingdom should have been able to beat us. ' The man stared back at me a smirk forming on his face that I had caught in the corner of my eye.

The man stood up running his finger across the spine of various books that were stacked up against each other, " You can read these if you want. They are of no use to me now as I am to focus on your story not any other. "

I stared at the man as I stood up, my height was small but my stature was not, " Tell me about this system? What does it do? " I walked towards him before grabbing the book that would detail Rome's Collapse.

The man released a chuckle placing his knuckle over his mouth, " It's a little companion, it allows you information on your own body and will allow you to summon Roman troops and those that came after it. " His fingers tapped the desk as he walked back towards his seat, leaning back into he grabbed a stick before placing it into his mouth and lighting it.

Staring at him as I looked up from the book a frown still largely evident on my face, " What is that? Producing all that smoke? " I spoke to him catching his attention as he grabbed it and took it out his mouth.

The man pointed towards the item, " Oh this, It's a cigarette. Helps reduce stress. " The man released a small chuckled. "Although I can not give it to you as you come from an era where they haven't even been invented."

The man then grabbed his feather and ink tossing them inside a wooden box and opened one of the areas of the desk pulling out another set of feather and ink, " It will take a day at most before you get transported there, so make yourself at home but please place the books back where you find them. " The man placed his hands together as he spoke towards me to which I simply nodded at his request.

Returning my read into the collapse of Rome I couldn't help but be angered at how they were so stupid to split allowing those damn barbarians to invade us. Although I couldn't help but laugh, It had collapsed under a man named Romulus a person with the same name as our founder. How interesting, It was as if it was almost predicted to be its end. Did the gods play into our collapse, had we messed with their plans?

Placing the book back in its place, I stared at another. ' The Art Of War ' written by a man named Sun Tzu although I'm unsure I read his name correctly. Opening the book it was filled and laid out oddly but it could be read and as such I had delved and tried to broaden my mind in the tactics of others after all a man could never know too many tactics.

It took me a while to get through the first book made by Sun Tzu and I must say he was impressive, he was truly a one of a kind general. His thoughts on battles would be something I could take on and use as a way to improve myself.

Staring towards the clock, I saw it hit the twelve mark meaning a day had passed and I would enter my new life as a younger me. I just hoped I would start with a few of my own soldiers even if it meant losing the trust of the original inhabitants of that world, I could care less.

The door behind me opened and the ' author ' entered the room, a book and something else in his hand. A smile evident on his face, " The publishers gave it a go ahead. Your story starts nows. " The man spoke a smile on his face raising his fingers he clicked it.

And just like that the world around me disappeared, the room collapsing sending me spiraling downwards to what I assume will be my new world. The world that was written down as ' Games Of Thrones '. Oh, How I hoped this wouldn't be as political as Rome.
