15 Chapter 15

Waking up again in the cottage, Jason couldn't help but think of the last few words he heard from Fenris. One of the two worlds he was in would possibly end. But why? What was so significant that one of these worlds would end? A dream within a dream, Jason thought as he looked towards the door. It still wasn't smashed in, so he must have dreamed that too. He felt that familiar feeling like he'd been high just hours before though, and that confused him above all else. Especially concerning the lack of a discarded needle or a mark in his arm.

Jason's phone started to ring, "Hello?" He answered.

Marie was on the other end, apparently she was off work early and ready to hang out.

"Okay, I'm on my way!" Jason said, smiling. "I'll see you in a few minutes.

Jason stood up, again, there was no body aches. Finally, he thought, I feel young again. Jason took up the opportunity to run to the coffee shop. It took a few minutes but he got there shortly after he was called. In his pocket, his phone started ringing again, he checked it. It was Alex. Weird, Jason thought, hitting the reject button. He didn't want to talk yet. He has other things to do. Stepping inside, Marie was already sitting down with her coffee, and upon seeing Jason walk in, Jonathan started on his usual.

"Hello Jason! I ordered for you already." She said, standing up to hug him.

Jason usually wasn't much for contact, but he was fine with this. He sat down and thanked her, waving to Jonathan as he sat.

"How are we doing today, Jason?" Jonathan asked.

"Can't complain, how about you?"

"Not too bad, today's been pretty slow." Jonathan set Jason's coffee and espresso down in front of him.

Marie took a seat next to Jason and continued drinking her coffee. Jason thought about Daphis in the forest, and the more he did, the more she looked like Marie.

"What are you staring at?" Marie asked blushing.

Jason didn't even realize he was staring. "Sorry, you just look really good today."

"Thank you!" Marie had a unique smile, she smiled showing her teeth, but her top and bottom teeth didn't touch fully and her tongue pressed up against the backs of them while she blushed. It was the cutest thing Jason had ever seen. He suddenly felt just as captivated as Daphis had him every time she sang. This caused Jason to stare more.

"Okay, you made your point." Marie kept blushing as Jason stared.

"I'm sorry." Jason said. "I've been having these dreams lately, and I can't tell whether this is one of them or if the dream is one of them."

Marie looked confused.

"I don't really know how to explain it." Jason said, shooting his espresso.

Jonathan listened in, he didn't seem confused though, he seemed to understand. He stepped into the back, thinking deeply about his dream. Jonathan never told anyone, but he wasn't sure whether he was awake or dreaming either. Jason and his date, Marie continued to talk up front, and Jonathan took up the opportunity to step out back, sending Kailin to replace him while he lit himself a cigarette. He closed his eyes for just a second and thought about his dream, a soldier dressed in gray with a red leather sash and red wrappings making gloves. He wielded a sword and was tasked with finding something for a king. Jonathan was a reasonable man, he always made friends wherever he went, never judging too harshly. He was different in his dream though, he felt like the same person, but what he was tasked with required violence, and he was fine with that. Whether it was a dream or whether this was, he didn't know. He did remember hearing Jason's name in his dream though, but that was probably just coincidence that he met a Jason here after he heard of one.

"Jonathan." A voice called out to him.

Whether he heard it in his head or out here, it didn't matter. Jonathan reacted only by dragging his cigarette and closing his eyes. The voice was female, soothing, but powerful.

"Jonathan, don't forget what you have to do." The voice said.

Jonathan remained composed, listening with his eyes closed as he smoked his cigarette.

"Kill Jason." The voice said, maintaining that soothing sound, but adding a layer of demonic low intensity. "Kill Jason, and the world will be ours." Jonathan rolled up his sleeve and put his cigarette out on his upper forearm, thinking the feeling might either confirm he was awake or wake him from this dream. Only pain, he wasn't dreaming. Kill Jason, the orders were simple enough, but Jonathan wasn't sure whether Jason was the one inside or whether there was another Jason in the dream world. So, he guessed he wasn't dreaming at all. Those words echoed in his mind while he walked back inside to work some more. Kill Jason.
