2 2. Before Transmigration Part 2

I decided to accept my unlucky destiny, but if it only kept tormenting me, then I will choose to leave this city and start my new life without him beside me.

"Leanna? What are you doing here? I am looking for you anywhere, but I couldn't find you anywhere." Hugo spoke with a harsh tone because Leanna was missing from the banquet.

I heard Hugo's angry tone, and it made me sad this instant. Hugo only thought about himself, but he never knew how much pain I had to endure while being with him.

I am also a human, not a thing that doesn't have a heart. Hugo is a selfish man. I can't endure this pain any longer though I don't know if I'll see you tomorrow after this.

"Why didn't you answer me?" Hugo's anger boiled into his head.

"So it is my fault that the President can't find me when you happily talked to the girl you love? Who do you think I am? I am your girlfriend, but you treat me like this.

Do you know what everyone talked about behind my back? They said that I am only with you because of your money. They said that I am a money-grabber.

Do you know how hurt it was for me when I heard their word? Of course not, because all this time you only think about that girl. The girl who never thinks about you at all. Please wake up. She is your sister in law, not a girl that you can date anymore, President."

"Plakk." A loud sound came from Hugo, who slapped me so hard that his slap made me fall to the ground. My body trembled in pain, but Hugo didn't care about me at all.

"Shut your mouth. If everyone said, you are a money-grabber, then what is wrong with that? They are right. After all, you can become my girlfriend because you are a money-grabber.

Please don't forget that you are only my shadow girlfriend. You are okay to be a girlfriend but not to be a marriage partner because it is disgusting to marry a poor girl like you.

I can't imagine if I get married to you, and I am sure that all of your family will ask for my money. You don't have the right to lecture me, and I will pretend that I don't hear anything.

Then you will work as usual tomorrow morning. If you let your mouth slip one more time, then don't hope you can have a better life than now." Hugo rubbed his hand with a handkerchief like touching my skin would make him sick.

I never imagined that Hugo only thought of me like that. Hugo is not better than those noblewomen in the banquet earlier. Hugo is evil in disguise and so heartless & ruthless towards me.

"I don't want to become your girlfriend anymore."

I shouted at him, and I never yelled at him before. Hugo's eyes widened, and he held my hand tightly.

"You dared to yell at me? Who do you think you are? You are only a pest that I can pick up and throw away wherever I want.

I never imagined that you could defy me like this, Leanna. You are not as beautiful & Elegant as my cousin."

Hugo narrowed his eyes, and his eyes were fierce. I could even feel that he wanted to kill me right here, right now.

"I am not her, so never compare me to her ever again. I break up with you this instant." I glared at him, but it didn't scare him at all.

"You hurt me, let me go, President," I added with a loud voice. Hugo gripped my hand tightly with anger in his eyes.

"I hurt you, you said? You cut me deeper with your words more than I harm your hand. I can even cut your hand if I want.

You dared to ask for a break up when you are not even my real girlfriend. Don't hope much because I won't ever let you run away from my grasp." Hugo was angry at me this time, and I never saw him this angry before.

"Then, if you don't let me run away, kill me instead. Strangle me with your hand until I die." I aimed Hugo's free hand towards my neck and forced him to choke me.

Hugo, who realized my action, let me go because of panic.

"Are you crazy?" Hugo yelled at me.

"Am I crazy, or are you the crazy one? I choose to die rather than being your shadow girlfriend." I shed tears in front of Hugo for the first time.

"Do you hate me that much?" Hugo asked me.

"Why should I answer your question? What benefit do you get from my answer?" I ran away from Hugo when he let me go, but before I could run far away from Hugo, I heard gunshots.

"Leanna."

Hugo, who is not far away from me, calling my name, and my body fell down to the ground, and Hugo caught me in time.

Even though I didn't know what happened, I knew one thing was that the shot pierced my body a few times. Hugo trembled when he saw me getting shot. I never saw his panic expression before. Everyone was in a mess and wanted to save themselves.

Hugo saw blood flying from my body, and his hand was shaking badly. He called for his bodyguard, and his bodyguard appeared as soon as he summoned them.

Some of the bodyguards run outside to catch the culprit. Some of the bodyguards phoned a hospital for help.

"Leanna?" Hugo's voice sounded like he wanted to cry this instant.

"Don't worry. I will save you, Leanna," Hugo's voice was hoarse.

I touched Hugo's face with one hand and smiled sweetly. I rubbed his face lightly and said, "Don't do anything because I know that it is too late to save me."

Hugo's eyes turned red and moist.

"Don't talk like that. I am sure that I still can save you."

Hugo desperately hugged my body covered with blood.

"No, I know that I won't live anymore. Why are you crying? I am only a shadow girlfriend that means nothing in your life, Hugo," It was my first time that I called Hugo's name because all the time I only called him President or Darling, but I never addressed his name.

Hugo ever once wanted me to call him out with his name, but I refused to do that because calling someone by name is only for a real couple, not a fake lover.

Hugo looked angry and dissatisfied at that time, but I didn't know why. Hugo's eyes widened in shock, and tears escaped from his eyes.

"You don't need to cry, Hugo, because after this, I will set you free. I hope you can find someone you love out there. I have a plan to work in another place, but it seems I can't do that anymore."

Tears escaped from my eyes. I never knew how scary it was to die like this.

"Don't talk anymore because I know that I can still save you."

Hugo looked so desperate, but I didn't know why he looked like this because I am not the one he needs, so why Hugo looked like he would die if I died.

"Why do you look so sad? Losing me is nothing, right. I never imagined that I could die in the arms of the man that I love.

It is really ironic. Everyone said that love is the most happier thing in this world, but they lied to me.

I never felt pleased while I dated the man I love. They said love could make your day more colorful, but they lied to me.

My life was colorless when I dated the man I love. Everyone said you would be happy to be together with the one you love, and it would be the most precious memory between a couple. But once again, they lied to me.

How come it would be my precious time if I always walked on a path full of thorns. I am only a shadow girlfriend, so I won't ever feel happy to be his girlfriend."

Hugo was shocked when he heard my confession.

"What do you mean, Leanna?" Hugo asked me with red eyes.

"I said, I love you, Hugo," I smiled at him and kissed his lips.

"Please be happy even without me beside you."

Then my eyes closed, and my body became weak.

"Leanna?" Hugo kept calling my name, but it was too late because my body turned cold each time passed.

"Leanna? No, don't leave me, Leanna," Hugo kept yelling my name, but he only heard silence around him because Leanna was dead.

"Leanna..." No one could hear Hugo's sorrowful voice except himself.

The ambulance came after Leanna's body turned cold as ice. It was too late. Hugo was depressed because of this incident.

Hugo never thought that Leanna would leave him in this way. Later, Hugo found out that the culprit, the real objective, was him, not Leanna, herself.

My body was full of red blood, and I never thought that I would be safe from death. Impossible I would be alive after those gunshots, but I really could open my eyes even after the shoot pierced my body.
