8 A nobleman's revenge

Mia gathered her with and stepped out of the doors. After using her expert vision to not see anyone around the trash can, she moved towards it and placed the two other trash bags with her inside it.

The one containing her expensive shoes, the money and new safe box was in her hands. She didn't know how to throw this over the fence without the surveillance cameras picking up on her move.

She texted Oliver about her dilemma and he told her to get ready to bolt out of there in two minutes. She patiently waited but then the two minutes dragged on and seemed like two years just as it was becoming two decades, she heard a commotion inside and from what she heard all the CCTVs were down.

She saw all the guards leave the gate to run inside to protect her and her siblings. She crawled like a snake and managed to get away.

She ran as fast as her legs coild manage away from the mansion but soon a car's honking made her slow down.

She peeped through the open window since the windscreen was tinted.

Oliver.

She hopped in and threw her 'luggage' at the back. She heard a faint thud but as she had nothing breakable inside she didn't ponder too much.

"Thanks for having my back Oliver" she said with a smile.

"Just doing my job Miss Mia" he replied politely.

She laughed a hearty one. "I may be used to people calling me Miss but coming from you it sounds super weird. From now I want everyone including you to call me Cookie" she said to him while directing him to the shop she saw a while back.

"Cookie"

She beamed at him. It was rare for someone to take correction so easily without her having to say it more than once.

"Take a left. There that's the shop" she removed the seat belt but didn't leave just yet. "Say Oliver?"

"Hmm?" he replied monotonously.

"Ur...can you by any chance. I mean erm do you know how to remove a tracker from a phone?"

"Yes I can"

She smiled then pulled out the phone Ashton gave her. She handed it to him then grabbed the trash bag from the back.

"Do you think you can finish before I come out?"

"I can try" he said in that tone that said 'don't disturb me' very clearly. He was already working in the phone prying it apart and pulling out some things that Mia didn't even know talk less of knowing that they existed.

"Kay, I'll be right back" with that she hopped out of the car and entered the shop.

The first thing she noticed was how it looked ancient and how the sign board was almost falling apart.

She saw that it was poorly lighted and that the tiles didn't match but she kept her mouth shut. She didn't criticize the place before giving the owners a chance.

Her grandma had taught her that not everything is as it seems. For some completely unrelated reason—which she could not point out, Sisley's face flashed through her mind.

Ugh. She just had to think of that girl and ruin her mood.

She saw a counter and an elderly woman behind d it. She approached carefully.

"Um grandma I will like to purchase some clothes"

The woman didn't move for a while. The wrinkles at the corners of her eyes opened wide as she stared at the rich girl who wanted to buy clothes from her broken down store.

"Paulina. Paulina!!" the older woman cried out and as her voice shook the second time, Mia patted the woman's arm that was resting on the counter and yelled with her voice full of command: "Paulina!!!"

A young lady appeared from the back wearing worn out clothes. "Grandma you called for me?" she asked her voice full of concern for the woman.

"Yes this young lady here wants to buy some clothes. Bring the best ones we have"

"No, no I don't want the best I just want simple wears" Mia said.

The one called Paulina stared at Mia as though she had grown a horn. Mia also studied the girl. Paulina had dark skin like her but she had black hair and brown eyes like other blacks she had seen who weren't Martins.

She was pretty if she would just take care of her self and the way she appears, she would be a suitable model in three years or there about.

"Come with me so you can select some things" Paulina said to Mia. "Nonna just rest I'll be right back okay?"

"Actually I think I'd like to buy all the clothes you have in my size" Mia said after a thought.

"Miss are you sure? That'll cost you around two thousand" the grandma said.

"I'm sure" Mia responded.

"Well then give me five minutes" Paulina quickly disappeared but returned to give Mia a plastic chair that was broken at the reclining side.

She disappeared once again then came back at least twenty minutes later with a heap of clothes in her hand.

"Would you happen to have a suitcase?" Mia asked.

"Yes we do...but it is old and a bit torn" Paulina replied with her head hung low.

Mia stepped towards her and raised her chin up. "Lift up your head princess, or else the crown falls"

She had no idea why she said it. She was just mimicking Lance from this webnovel she was reading, Hot Nerd.

The older lady looked at Mia for some time before asking Paulina to get the suitcase. Paulina returned with a royal blue suitcase that had worn out from all the years it had been kept and the threads were pulling out at the edges making it look terrible.

Mia smiled and unzipped it before loading all the clothes Paulina brought inside. She didn't even bother to fold them since the box was large.

She then put her trash bag at the side before taking out some money and stuffing it into the old lady's hands. "I really need the rest otherwise I would have given it all to you" she said with a smile.

"Would you happen to also have a pair or two of flip flops?" Mia asked.

Paulina didn't even wait for her grandmother this time and dashed into the shop and came back with black and yellow pairs of slippers.

Mia collected them with a thank you and stuffed it inside the trash bag. She removed a thousand and gave it to Paulina. "I like your service...very effective"

"Thank you so much" Paulina squealed.

The older lady said thank you as well to Mia. Tears were already threatening to fall. "You do not know how much you have helped us. Now our Paulina can go to college"

Mia's heart broke when she heard that Paulina wasn't in college yet. At most she was just two years her senior. She glanced at the trash bag and sighed.

Curse her for having a soft heart. She ended up giving half of the money left to them. She was now left with two thousand five hundred dollars.

Paulina had hugged her. "Thank you so much Miss"

Ugh. Not again.

"Please call me M-.....Cookie. Cookie Martin" she extended her hand to Paulina.

"Hi Cookie I'm Paulina Apee"

"Nice to meet you Paulina, but I'm afraid I have to leave now" Mia pulled out one of her Adidas sneakers and gave them to Paulina and ran out before she was crushed to death this time.

When she loaded the box in the trunk of the car and entered she noticed that Oliver was already through with the tracker.

He handed over both the phone and the tracker to Mia as soon as she entered and he started driving to the train station.

"So what are you going to do with the tracker?"

"Well I just realized that next tomorrow is mom's birthday" Mia said with a laugh.

She was gonna crush her mom's party the way her mom crushed hers.

Truly for a nobleman's revenge ten years isn't too long.
