1 A new identity

"I can't stand you anymore" Mia shouted walking down the stairs towards the living room.

"Then leave" her mom said through gritted teeth.

"What? Are you seriously asking me out of my father's house?" Mia was so angry you could see the smoke coming out of her ears.

"He was my husband first" her mom retorted calmly.

"One day I will come back and slam my degree in your face" so saying Mia went to her room to pack her things.

"Are you really going to leave?" her little sister Jewel asked from her room's door.

Mia sighed then sat on her bed running her hand through her hair "I don't know Princess" she covered her face with her hands "I don't know"

Jewel walked to the bed and removed Mia's hands from her teary face "Cooks, if being a doctor will make you happy then do it after all we already have Ash and Jordan to follow up with family traditions. I mean this job WAS meant for guys in the first place I don't know why some crazy ladies signed up for it and now it's come around to bite our butts"

Mia laughed. Her baby sister really knew how to lift her mood. The door opened and Mia saw her brothers heads before they entered. Asher was twenty years, older than her by three years, she was older than Jordan by a two years and Jewel by ten years.

"We knew this day would come when you'd fight mom" Ash said "its sad it had to be on your birthday" he shook his head and plopped down on the bed, Jordan following a second after.

After a while Jordan went to her wardrobe and started packing her things into the suitcase on the ground.

"What are you doing?" Mia asked.

"Like Jewel said me and Ash are here to continue with the family traditions" he said without stopping what he was doing. This is how it is with the Martin kids they are so supportive of each other. Mia's eyes welled up and she went to him and hugged his back.

"Don't cry Cookie, do you want dad to kill me?" he asked as he cleaned her tears.

Mia's dad called her Cookie since she was born. He said her brown skin and white hair made her look like a cookie with whipped cream on top.

Ash had grumbled for two full years asking why he didn't get a special nickname until his innocent heart finally warmed up to his cute little sister who stole all the attention from him. Everyone born into the Martin family had white hair and brown skin. Especially if it was a male Martin, the gene would be stronger. If it was a female the baby would end up with fair hair usually blonde.

As the case is with this particular Martin family their dad is a male Martin and the only son of his parents. And all Martins were in the military business. Both of Mia's parents were in the army. Her dad, Sydney, was already the major general her mom, Taylor, the general since she joined the army a little earlier than Sydney.

Mia sniffed and went back to sit down but she turned to ask Jordan if he seriously wanted to be a soldier when she saw him opening a drawer that contained her underwear.

She flew to him, "em I think I can finish it myself"

Jordan didn't understand but he just shrugged and left her to her packing. Ash knew what happened so he just smiled slightly.

Ash was already in the army and he knew what he was facing. He doesn't want any of his sisters to go through all the drills, not because he thought that they couldn't handle it. He'd seen Mia beat up a few bullies and Jewel, well the little girl had the mind of an evil genius so he was very sure that they could take care of themselves but...

...the life of a soldier included killing, bloodshed, breaking bones all without hesitation...

He sighed.

He was very happy that Mia was going to pursue her dreams to be a doctor. Even though being a physiotherapist meant a high chance of working in the army he didn't mind as long as she wasn't on the battlefield.

He asked for a group hug since he himself will soon be going back the only reason he was here was to celebrate Mia's birthday. They all crowded together.

"And this is your gift" he gave her a small box with a blue ribbon on it.

Her eyes shone and she quickly unwrapped it. It was a new phone and it was really expensive. Mia squealed and hugged him tight.

"Thanks bro" she placed the phone on the bed with extreme care before shooing them out of her room with the excuse that she needed to bath and finish packing on time so she will be well rested before the next day "the whole you are not going to be a doctor fiasco is giving me a headache"

Her siblings said their good nights and left. She took her bath and changed into her PJs. She looked at the phone with a smirk before putting it back on the bed.

Mia went down to the kitchen and drank water while making sure that everyone was in their rooms. She tiptoed to her dad's study and took the metal detector there. She snuck back to her room.

Mia was a smart girl and had a feeling that something was up with the phone Ash gave her. She waved the detector over the phone.

*WHIR WHIR*

True to her speculation there was a tracker in the phone. She scoffed and returned the detector to the study.

'Ash thinks he's smart huh? Putting a tracker in my phone so he can always find me. I should probably do something about this'

She gave a low chuckle if anyone had been there they would have trembled from how evil the ever cheerful Cookie sounded.

'I need a new identity, obviously I can't change my surname but I should change my name...

Hmm....

Mia Martin...

Cookie Martin...

That should work since it isn't even my middle name'

With those thoughts she drifted off to sleep.
