Chapter 21: Calling names
Kumiko slowly raised her head. She placed one of her hands on his cheeks. She then forcefully pushed his cheek to her left side.
"Next time, if you aren't coming home, tell me in advance!"
And with her other hand, she pinched his waist.
Kumiko wiped her tears with her hand as she headed downstairs. She then asked, "Have you eaten already?"
Following her going down from behind, he replied, "Y--No, I haven't."
"You must be hungry. Come to the kitchen. I cooked curry this morning."
Sitting as Ryu watched Kumiko prepare the food for him, Ryu probably thought he made the wrong decision.
Still full from the food he ate with Kumiko, he could still eat. But not eat a plate full of rice and curry!
As she placed his plate on the table, he smiled at Kumiko. "Itadakimasu..."
Taking a bite, he looked again at his aunt. 'Aunt, please. This is too much; too much.'
As she sat opposite to him on the table, she looked at him skeptically.
"Aren't you eating slow for someone who hasn't eaten yet?"
"Ah... It's because the food is so delicious. I want to taste it properly."
"You don't need to worry about that. We still have a lot, so eat up."
After 30 minutes, he finished his plate and placed it in the sink. He went to the living room and sat beside Kumiko on the couch.
Glancing at Ryu while watching television, she asked, "Did you like the food?"
"Un... It's delicious."
As Ryu looked at what she was watching, he said, "Is that the cooking show you're hoping to join?"
"Yes," Kumiko answered. "I still need to be better at cooking so I can attend."
"The food looks delicious..."
"Yes, it is. I heard that a 3-Michelin star chef is going to be on the show in a couple of months."
Gazing at the television, he said, "You still have time to practice. I support you!"
"Oh, no!" Kumiko took her phone from the table in front of the couch and immediately started typing. "I forgot to write the ingredients. I'll try to cook this for you, Ryu-Kun."

Ryu's heart started pounding faster. The hologram didn't appear white but black. The only answer he had to pick echoed in his head. It was easy enough to answer, but he couldn't pick.
"Lily, can you explain why the hologram is black..."
