9 Strigoi Hunting

"You can never kill all of us. We are...kuhk!" A head fell to the ground then followed by the bleeding headless corpse. Rick was standing over the body with a tired look on his face. Behind him lay over hundreds of corpses all without heads.

"These fuckers are a lot. I need to find the Father before he escapes like last time," Rick said to himself. What he was hunting was a Strigoi, a variant kind of vampire that have been going nuts in the country. In two weeks, they have reduced two towns into ghost towns, eating even their remains. He got the information from a hunter after John spread out the world that he would be doing any job that seemed quite not alright and the hunters had been helpful with that.

"C'mon boy. I want to play," Rick whistled as he made his way deeper into the burrow. He had already walked for a whole mile and the air inside was already too stuffy. Just then, he noticed some people were coming his way so he turned around and waited. Five minutes later, he saw them and the one leading them was someone very farmiliar.

"Argent family," he blurted out. Leading them was Gerard Argent followed by Chris Argent, Kate Argent and some others. Gerard was surprised to see him here too.

"Who are you?" he asked him.

"Rick Sanchez, you are in the middle of my hunt so go back to your mansions," Rick warned them.

"Are you hunting alone?" Chris asked him. Rick didn't answer him but they took that as a yes. "Damn, you must be one hell of a hunter."

"We have been tracking these things for a week now. You can leave it all to us," Gerard ordered him. Rick gripped his machete harder as he chuckled coldly. The Argents saw this and cocked their guns. "No need to be stupid, son." Rick heard something from behind that made him change his mind. He sheathed his machete and put his arms up.

"Fine, go right ahead," he said then walked out of the burrow. Gerard showed contempt when Rick walked away and turned to his children.

"Always remember, the Argents do not back down. We are the best hunters in the world," he told them. They nodded in agreement before they kept on heading down. Suddenly, a shriek came from the darkness, startling all of them to a stop. Gerard unholstered his gun and cocked it, ready for a fight. Another shriek came from the darkness and this time, hundreds of more shrieks followed. Then came a stampede followed by the Strigois becoming visible.

They were pale humanoid creatures with yellow eyes, claws, sharp fangs that replaced their teeth and their most distinguishing feature are their tongues. These tongues are tubelike, long and at the tip was parted in the middle as there was a sharp needle there.

"What the fuck are these things!" one of them cried out as they started backing away.

"Fire! Fire now!" Gerard cried out as he opened fire himself, pushing his two children behind their men. The Strigois were fell but not dead even after a headshot. They were probably killed by being trampled to death by their comrades. But, there were still more coming and they couldn't hope to kill them all.

"Retreat, now!" Gerard called out, taking heel himself. The rest followed, shooting behind once in a while. When they reached a junction, more Strigois suddenly appeared and four of them pounced on them, bringing down three of the hunters and they started their feast. The rest were horrified after seeing their fate if they were caught and that motivated them to run even faster. After a horrifying half an hour, they finally found the entrance and they jumped out, going to their truck. Kate looked behind and saw all the Strigois stop a foot away from where the rays of the sun reached in the burrow.

"They are afraid of the sun," she called out, making the others look back and noticed they really were. Gerard was angry because of his three dead men so he took an automatic rifle and started shooting the Strigois. The others joined in, enjoying taking part of this. None of them noticed a flying figure in the sky looking at them.

"Seems I need to give them something to be afraid of," Rick said. Lightning flashed in his eyes as dark clouds suddenly covered the sky and the sun was blanketed too. Everyone was stunned, even the Strigoi, by this new development.

"Shit," Chris cursed when he saw this. "Time to go." They turned around and ran to their cars. A Strigoi got curious by peeping its head out of the burrow but it didn't burn. With that knowledge, it screamt to it's brethren and led the charge towards the Argents whose cars weren't working and they were forced to start running for their lives. Rick watched in amusement as the younger Argents started leaving the older Argent behind. As much as he was tempted to let the Strigois tear him apart, he had a role to play. So, he raised his hand and the clouds parted, letting the sun shine down on the Strigois who had all ran out of their burrows.

They shrieked in terror as they tried to run back but it was too late. They started burning and soon, the whole place was filling with shrieking, burning monsters. It was a scary sight to behold. Four of them saw the shade below the Argent cars so they used all their remaining strength to crawl under. There is a fisherman saying that a dying crab brings the rest of its kind down with it. When the others saw them hide under the cars, they started swarming over, each fighting for the spot. The fighting punctures the fuel tank and their flaming bodies ignited it and then...

BOOOOM!

Their last hope exploded, bringing the other car to explode too. The Strigois were left to burn in sun till all that was left were ashes. The Argents were not happy by what just happened.

"We don't have vehies to go back home, phones to call for back up and weapons to continue this hunt," Gerard said as he clenched his fist in anger. Just then, a truck drove up next to them and the driver's window was rolled down.

"Need help there?" Rick asked as his smug mug irritated them all.

"Yes, we need to get to the town and call our people for help," Gerard gritted his teeth and said.

"Better start walking then," Rick laughed and drove off. "Next time, don't butt in a hunter's work if you don't know what they are hunting, idiots." Kate nearly shot at him when they heard that but Gerard pushed her hand down.

"He's right, we don't know what we were hunting. We need to get Intel on what these things are and he might be that Intel. Kate, how are your seducing skills?" Gerard asked her.

"Are you telling your daughter to seduce someone for intel? What if he takes me to bed?" she asked him.

"That is your own life but right now, we need that intel," Gerard answered. Kate sighed in disappointment.

"Fine," she agreed as they all started walking.
