Coldness lingered outside the castle but the air inside was warm and comfortable.

The royal family often spent their evenings at the glass veranda, watching through the massive windowpanes as the stars came to life.

Because of the snow fall in the day, the land of green become white. It highlighted the stars in the dark sky of the night, making a beautiful sight to watch.

But it changes tonight.

There's dark shadows looming at the corner of the castle. In the dark a pair of red lights glint, reflecting the moonlight high above.

In a heartbeat, the shadows were upon the royal family. In a hitch, they were in front of the small prince. The princess that seated next to him, pushes the prince behind her. Protecting the young prince with her small stature. Swords flashed. Scream rose.

The young prince heard it first before he felt it. A warm liquid splattered on his face. The Queen's head hang on her neck in a crooked angle. She sat across him lay motionless, eyes stares at him blankly and mouth hanging open from screaming, up ahead the Queen a pair of red eyes locked at the young prince. Blood dripping from its mouth as the fangs glimmered.

A vampire.

His pulse pounding. His legs trembling.

"Take your brother and run!" the king shouted at the princess. "Protect him." as he rubbed her forehead using his thumb as if to say goodbye.

For a moment she looked at her father, silently memorizing his face. She will never forget. Then looked at the two royal guards was drawn their sword upfront, asking them to protect her father no matter what.

The princess can't help to reach at her fathers hands, "Thank you." she whispered.

Then the vampire began to laugh in joy.

The princess snatched her brother's hand and pulled him toward the small doorway that lead to servants' hall.
