3 Act 1 - Ecarius (3)

After a few seconds of silent and darkness suddenly I heard birds chirping, I feel the heat of the sun and the blowing wind.

I opened my eyes to see a beautiful scenery of the wild. Ocean of grass and mountains on the horizon. Blue skies with clouds and birds fly free.

My heart suddenly felt a happy burst.

"This is Ecarius? If it is, its amazing," I said to myself.

In the distance there was what it looks like a dirt road that leads to somewhere. I walked towards it.

If I'm going to survive, I must find people, and a town is probably my best shot. But since I don't know the direction to the nearest town, there are two ways: Left and Right.

I took a moment and decided that I should head right. There's no reason as to why, but I just felt like it.

And my decision was right, its not a town but a man riding a cart can be seen on the dirt road heading my way. So I walked towards him.

"Good morning, sir!" the man said.

"Good morning, uh... excuse me, but can you take me to the nearest town?" I asked.

"Sure, hop on in and I'll take you to Joules," the man kindly said.

So heading to the right would mean a mistake since the nearest town is to the left. But I don't care because now it means that I don't have to walk.

The cart was carried by a donkey so the travel is a little slow. So instead of being awkward I asked the man a little question.

"Can you tell me more about the town, Joules?" I asked.

"Huh?" the man said, "Are you a traveller from another continent?"

"Yes, I was traveling when suddenly something happened and I happen to wake up in the grass," I said.

"Oh, I pity you. You should ask the knights at Joules and see if they can help you with that," the man suggested. "Answering your question, Joules is a big town controlled by the Empire. The mayor of the town is Sir Will Francis,".

Interesting, so this land belongs to the Empire.

"Is there anything or any place that I should visit in Joules?" I asked.

"I think first you should get a permit. If you were to wander around in an Empire town without permits, you will be considered as trespassing. You can get permits at the Town Center, but I suggest getting one at the Town's Guild for longer stay,"

"Then you should find a place to stay, there's a cheap inn called The Half Moon that costs for 5 bronze a night. I know the owner so I think I can help you to make it 3 bronze a night with free meals,"

"Will you take me there?" I asked.

"Of course. But oh, I almost forgot you don't have money. I suggest that you go to the Town's Guild and borrow money. If you're that type of person. If not then I think you should either sell your clothes or join as an Adventurer,"

Adventurers?

"What's an Adventurer?" I asked

"Adventurers are people who seek adventures and do quests to earn money and reputation. In the Republic they are called Field Workers or just Workers for short. Workers are not an official job and their reputation is not as good as Adventurers so you might want to be on watch if you happen to meet them,"

"If you want to taste the cuisine of Joules then I suggest visiting the Public Market and taste the street foods. Its also a good place to buy things. If you want to sell then I suggest either the Town's Guild or Ark's Pawn Shop if you don't want to get scammed by the people," finally the man stopped talking.

That's a lot of information but its very important if I want to survive the new world. This is similar to an MMORPG game and it makes me relief that I've been playing it. I might know what I'm doing but not everything goes according to plan.

So the first thing I need to do is to get a permit and earn money. Okay, then Adventurer might not be a boring job.

"Mister, look ahead, we have finally arrived," the man said.

I looked and the town is not what I thought it would be. Its surrounded by tall stone wall and it looks very medieval.

We entered the walls but was stopped by the wall guard. He walked towards the man and spoke to him.
