It all started with the perfect family, always smiling and happy, a complete family and home. I, Vivian and Mabel with me being the youngest. These three sisters cherished each other until calamity broke.

"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" the phone rang. Vivian picked the phone and her expression changed, I tried asking what was wrong but she didn't say anything so I called mom.

"Vivian what's wrong, why ain't you saying anything mom panicked.

"Hello, yes I am Mrs Edwin" I heard mom say, then all of a sunday she collapsed and was crying profusely. I asked what the matter was but she refused talking, so I did the only thing a five year old could do.

"You are a bad person, you made my mom and sister cry".

"No I did not the news made them cry".

"What news"?.

"Your father was involved in a car accident and he died on the spot".

I never knew those words were going to change my life but it did.

Few years after my father's death and burial, things became hard for us. My mom was never in talking terms with my father's people so going to them was out of the question. We dropped out of school and had to start hawking fruits on the streets. My mom would buy fruits and we would sell them.

"Dora, you are going to hawk the oranges while your sisters will take the bananas and pineapples".

"Yes mom".

Be very careful when crossing and don't go into any secluded area to sell for someone".

"I know mom, I'm no longer a baby".

My mom smiled but it didn't reach her eyes. I know my mom well cause I've always been mommy's girl. I know she was dying inside knowing that she was sending her children into the dangerous streets to hawk. Since my dad's death my mom became a shadow of herself, the beautiful, confident and plump woman I knew was no more.

"Take care of yourself mom, I love you".

"I love you more my sunshine".

"Bye mom, take care" My sisters said then we left to different locations.

On my way, I saw children my age going to school in their parent cars and I smiled cause I know one day I would still go back to school. I won't lose hope. I was able to sell a good quantity of my Oranges and got lots of extra money from people who pitied me, for your information I hate people helping me cause they pity me but I just had to keep my pride aside cause we need the money.

"Hey girl, I want to buy some oranges". I looked and a lady was calling me across the street, I was so happy to sell all my oranges that I didn't look before crossing and ended up being hit by a car.
