A Kings Gift

Henry was greeted by a group of unknown people when he opened his eyes. He was shocked by their looks, they all had black or brown skin, with silver hair and ice-blue eyes. They used coates made from fur as clothes and looked at him like he was the most valuable thing in the world.

They started to cry and dropped down to their knees with their hands touching the ground. He sat up and looked around. He was naked and it looked like he was sitting in the middle of an altar.

What shocked him even more was that his body changed. In the past he was white with brown locks and brown eyes, now he had the same color of skin as the people around him. He wondered if he had silver hair and ice blue eyes too.

An old man clad in long white robe with a cane moved forwards and bowed down.

"Ancestral Priest Manuel welcomes his Majesty the King from the bottom of my heart."

Henry frowned, "You speak french?"

The priest kept bowing, "No my King, we speak the mortal language."

'Mortal language?' Thought Henry confused.

"Why do you keep calling me King?"

"Because the gods blessed us with you, your Majesty, our very first King." answered the priest with joy.

Henry looked at the kneeing people around him with a complicated gaze. Then he recalled touching that strange token inside....

'Wait what about Charlotte?'

He clenched his fist....

'She knew...she knew this would happen and made me touch that thing!'

Henry was irritated by the fact that his own little sister brought him into this bizarre situation.

The priest coughed and said, "Your Majesty it's cold, you should put your clothes on."

Henry snapped out from his thoughts and remembered that he was naked. Embarrassed he nodded to the priest that had stopped bowing.

Three good looking girls came up to him and started to put his clothes on.

'Damn!' Cursed Henry inside his head.

The three finished quickly and bowed deeply before retreating to the back.

Ancestral Priest Manuel bowed again, "Please follow me your Majesty, the Royal Knights are waiting outside the temple, they will escort you to the castle."

Henry only nodded like a robot, many thoughts were running through his head.

When he stepped outside he saw a world of ice and snow. It was cold and snow was falling down from the with grey cloud filled sky. All the buildings around seemed to be made from ice.

The 50 knights in steel armors and fur coats fell on their knees when they saw him.

A middle aged knight in the middle said with joy, "Your Majesty, I'm Hector Urobion, Commander of the Royal Knights, we are here to escort you to the castle."

"Ehm, alright thank you Commander Urobion."

"It is a honor to serve under your Majesty!" Shouted Commander Urobion with pride.

The knights stood up with happy faces and prepared everything for the departure. One of them lead a big brown elk to Henry, he was surprised by it, it looked like the one the Elven King rode in the Little Hobbit movie.

He mounted it and they started to travel through the streets of the snow white city. The medieval city was pretty big. The people who saw him stopped everything they were doing and fell on their knees with their arms on the ground, they didn't care about the cold weather. Tears came from their eyes, but those were tears from joy, just like the people inside the temple.

They all had dark skin with silver hair and ice-blue eyes. Except for the older looking people they had dark hair, or strands of dark hair.

'Seems like their turn dark when they get older.'

Henry was riding on his elk mount, protected by the Royal Knights around him.

It took them 30 minutes until they reached the castle. It was a breathtaking view. The castle was made completely from ice, but it looked many times more refined than the buildings in the city.

Henry got down from his elk and entered the palace with the Royal Knights. Around and inside the palace were more Royal Knights patrolling and they kneeled down every time they saw Henry, shouting "Long live the King!"

The Royal Knights guided him to the main hall, where the throne made of ice and steel stood.

Everyone kneeled down. Henry turned around and saw the 100 Royal Knights on their knees. He felt his blood boiling. He only saw something like this in movies and now all those badass looking soldiers are kneeling before him. Henry took a deep breath before he sat down on the throne.

The moment he sat down an overwhelming light descended from the sky, ignoring all obstacles and shooting right into Henry.

When the light entered him he lost consciousness for a few seconds before coming back to his sense with new information about his "Gift".

Blood Grimoire was his Gift. Apparently every King would get a Gift from Heaven when they ascended the throne. A crone made from silver and ice with three sapphire embodied into it appeared on his head.

The Royal Knights didn't move a bit while all that unfolded in front of them, like it was a natural thing to happen.

Henry was frowning while thinking about his Blood Grimoire.

With a thought he summoned an antique looking book with a blood red cover. The moment he touched it he felt a faint energy enter his body. The energy flowed through his body, spreading out and a comfortable feeling spread across his body. Henry started to browse through the book but the pages were empty. He was confused. With another thought the Blood Grimoire vanished.

"LONG LIVE THE KING!"

All the Royal Knights shouted in unison.

Henry had his eyes half closed, thinking about his current situation.

Two people entered the main hall at the same time, both men looked like they were in their mid 50s, with long black hair, full black beards and ice-blue eyes. The one on the left had a shiny golden armor and the one on the left weared an exquisite looking robe made of white fur.

Both of them walked before Henry and bowed deeply, "Your Majesty, it is a joy to welcome you. I'm General Sergio Urobion and Patriarch of the Urobion Clan."

"It's a joy to serve under your Majesty. I'm Minister David Rlorio and Patriarch of the Rlorio Clan."

Henry opened his half closed eyes and observed both elders. The General had a savage air around him that reminded him of his big uncle on earth, that served his whole life France as a soldier.

"I'm very happy to meet both of you, my name is Henry Genereux and it seems like I'm the new King. I have many questions."

Both of them nodded.

They spoke for hours before bowing and leaving, continuing with their respective tasks.

Henry leaned back on his throne, lost in thoughts.

He gained a rough understanding about his kingdom in the conversation with both veterans. His Kingdom didn't have a name yet, he is the only one who is allowed to decide the name.

The whole population reached whooping 7 million people, but they told him that in the past they were over 240 million people. Many wars with other kingdoms forced them to flee from the warm south to the cold north. They explained that a kingdom without a king was like a big fat sheep in the eyes from the other kingdoms that had kings. That was over 3000 years ago. Since then they stayed here in the cold harsh north. The good news was that the other kingdoms didn't bother them anymore, but the bad news was that they started to starve to death because of the little food the north provided.

There are 2 big tribes near the kingdom. They once were part of it but they split apart later due to disputes.

He learned that the warriors in this world used Ki, the energy within to gain strength.

It was getting dark and he ordered some Royal Knights to show him his room. He entered a luxurious spacious room. It was nice decorated, befitting a King. Maids brought him food and wine and massaged him. He had a wide grin on his face.

Later he ordered them to leave and went to bed. Lying there in peace he fell asleep.

I changed the name Elorio to Rlorio :)
