His dad had kept him busy the rest of the time Jacob was at the campground. He didn't have any free time to himself. His dad had him fish with him, although they spent hours doing that they didn't talk.

All his dad had said was, "So, you got yourself a girl yet?"

"No," was the reply.

That had confused Jacob, why did that matter? Why not ask if he got a job yet or how he was doing in school? "I guess," Jacob had thought, "the world works in mysterious ways."

Other than fishing, Jacob and his dad had taken a walk in the woods, they didn't talk much there either, but Jacob figured it would become one of the better memories of his dad. Walking side by side. Listening to the peaceful sounds of nature. Crickets chirping. Leaves rustling in the breeze.

Now he was at his moms. He didn't even have time to say good bye to Nightwing before he had returned home. Jacob decided to text her now.

"Hey," he wrote, "Sorry for not saying bye or anything. My dad really was time consuming."

"Oh, hi Jacob," Nightwing texted back, almost immediately, "Don't worry about not saying bye, after all aren't we technically communicating now? It is not like we've parted ways forever."

"Your right," Jacob replied, thinking, "This girl is smart."

"Anyway," Nightwing said, "How could your dad be time consuming? That's a funny way to describe him."

"He wouldn't let me do what I wanted, or at least nothing by myself," Jacob said.

"Intriguing," Nightwing said, "You think you'll ever come back to the campground?"

"I want to."

"Honestly, me and my sis don't really see many specials about the campground, it was so awesome that I met you."

"In the city there are tons of specials."

"What are their abilities like?"

"Pointed ears, tails, antennas, whiskers, all kinds of stuff."

"That's cool."

That wasn't even all of the texts they sent the first day. And Jacob found that Nightwing would reply very quickly every time he texted her. It was if she had nothing better to do. Than again, she spent most her life in a campground, sitting around on a log, staring at a river, thinking about random things like, if crabs were to look up, do they think the fish are flying?

After a few weeks of texting back and forth with Nightwing in Jacob's free time, Jacob finally decided to ask. "Whats your actual name?" He got left on read. "Hello?" he sent.
