TWO

Jessica opened her eyes from the light that is invading her. She groaned from the impact of the light on her iris' and shielded it with her hand. The last thing she remembered was she's dying pathetically in the basement of their house.

After the reminiscing, she froze.

Basement? Torture?

She looked around to see where she is: a simple bed with few pillows and a blanket, baby blue walls with few sticky notes, a shelf full of books, and a closet for her things.

'Was I resurrected?'

She reached out for her phone to check the date. It was the day that she will meet Andrew from an annual party conducted for the employees of the company. Fureno Corp., after all, is one of the powerful companies reigning at the country.

This time, she won't attend but instead will go and have fun with her 'real' friends. After all, they have been pestering her to have a bonding time despite their work is pointing towards different directions.

A call snapped her out of her turmoil and see the name of the woman who drove her to her death. Paloma Saler. The woman she thought she can trust her enough to tell her grievances, used it against her.

'A woman like you deserves a better ending, an ending suitable for a greedy woman.' She thought. 'Your greed is seeping at your bones, it's disgusting.'

A ringtone disturbed her from her thoughts and checked who called. Speak of the devil, here she is. Paloma Saler was trying to call about the party that will happen tonight. Obviously, she will try to be lavish, to beat what will Jessica would wear for the party. After all, all employees will get a chance to see the big boss of Fureno Corp.

But for this lifetime, she won't attend the party and let Paloma be the biggest fool of the party. So she took the call and speak. "Paloma, what is it?"

"Don't forget the party later, ok? I heard the big bosses will come to the party." Paloma sounds so excited she can't contain it from her voice.

Jessica chuckled. "You sound so excited. We will just gonna see the boss, other than that, nothing will be interesting in there. I'll just eat and go home, perhaps?"

"Aw, come on Jess! You are so anti-social!"

'I better be anti-social than to bewith a cunning woman like you.' Jess thought.

"Don't worry, I'll come. I might get late although since I need to set up some things in my room." She lied.

"Ok, remember our plan? You know what to wear right?"

"Of course, I trust your fashion." In her previous life, she's fine on wearing shirts and jeans for work, since she works at the clinic, not in the office. Then Paloma 'helped' her to get formal clothes but it was a disaster, ending up getting the attention of her husband.

But in this lifetime, she'll make sure that she will save herself from the mess that Paloma will create for her. That will be her goal to survive and achieve her long time wish before she decided to fall in love with the wrong person.

"See ya later, then." Jess hang up the call before Paloma tried to say something to her. Then another ring from her phone caught her attention and saw the name of her friends during college.

"Jessica!" A manly voice rang out from the phone. "Want to hang out? We already miss you!"

Jessica chuckled, calming for the first time. "Sure, why not? It's been a long time since I saw you guys. And I'm gonna roast you with questions since it's been a while since we all gather and talk."

"Now, that's our girl!" The voice was glad to hear her agreeing. "So come to this club we often go to, I'll send you the address, and I'll introduce you to the new member of the group."

That was the first time she heard that the boys added another person to the group, after all, they are pickier than her when it comes to whom they should include to the group. And whoever that unlucky person is, they will find out how crazy the group when everyone meets up.

"I'll prepare for that then, Josh. Don't embarrass me."

"Hah, our princess knows to get embarrassed? Wow, this is refreshing to my ear, the world is ending!" Josh joked.

"Shut up! You boys better prepare later, bring your girlfriends too." Jess chuckled.

"Of course, milady! You always nag at us to get girlfriends, we won't disappoint you if meet them."

"Don't worry, I won't get disappointed with your girls, but I might end up getting disappointed if you guys are still single." Jess scanned the notes at the wall. "See you guys later!"

She ended the call immediately and checked all of the notes she had stuck at the wall. Notes in a different colour at different places tell the priority of it. But for now, she will ignore them and will try to have fun after getting reborn.

'I'll make sure my life won't be messed up and get tangled up with them. After this party, I will resign and look for another job, a job that won't intersect with them.'

She's glad that the party and her meet up were at in different place but at the same time, so even if Paloma will try to get her at her home, Paloma will think that she missed Jessica and was on the way to the party.

But she will head to the opposite direction and have fun without the people she hates the most, no matter how they will try to entangle their fate to one another and change.

There is always an act of better revenge than serving justice by your own hands. And she will do it, in a way that they will never forget, even in their subconscious.

And she'll make sure that she's the winner of the game.
