1 ~ Bread Bank

Madison sat down under the slide, a bag of bread in her hand. She was sitting criss cross, leaning her head down in order to not bang her head on the slide. There were a few 8 year olds surrounding her, her talking to them, waving her hands around to explain what she was talking about.

She had messy, dark brown hair that went down to her waist. Her eyes were a dark forest green that could be confused for brown. Her skin was pale, freckles neatly placed on her cheeks. She had black circle glasses, which she had just pushed up like an anime character, a black choker on, a red baseball jacket on, some blue jeans, and some black platforms. She seemed rather put together..except for the fact there was dirt all over her face and clothing.

"Now listen here you idiot- no one steals my bread. You got that? Now what type of bread would you like?" She seemed rather violent and hostile talking about the first part, but her mood entirely switched when beginning to speak of her bread.

"A baguette!" One of the short kids yelled, clapping his hands together happily. Madison then reached a hand in the bag, folding a bread a few times before handing it over to the happy kid, him skipping away with his bread.

Then a red headed, skinny, freckle covered kid stepped forward, furrowing his eyebrows and looking down at Madison. "That's just bread. That's not a baguette." He scowled, clearly not approving. Madison was around in 8th grade when he seemed to be in 2nd.

"Shut it, carrot!" Madison then threw a small piece of bread at the small kid, smirking. She clearly loved harrassing children. It was something she was good at.

"I've tried one before and that's not what it tastes like!" He crossed his arms, arguing with a person that clearly wasn't going to change.

"Stop acting rich, you look stupid." Madison pocketed some money, then handing out more bread.

"I am rich!" The kid kicked some of the mulch at Madison, seeming upset now.

"Well clearly not as you live in this hell hole with me." Madison didn't even look at the kid as she said that, pushing up her glasses and handing out another slice of bread.

The kid then stomped away, angrily. Then a small girl who seemed to be in 8th grade as well walked up to Madison, looking down. "Are you selling...bread?" She questioned, tilting her head to the side.

The girl had extremely curly, light brown hair. Her eyes were a really deep blue, her skin contrasting and being really pale. She had a short skirt on, as well as black thigh highs. She was wearing a lavender sweater, as well as a bunch of handmade wrist bands.

"What does it look like?" Madison didn't look up at the girl, counting her slices of bread.

"Hey, this tastes gross!" A kid yelled, spitting out the bread at Madison. Madison gagged and kicked mulch over the spat out bread.

"My apologies, my apologies. I didn't put the special seasoning on it!" Madison then took the half eaten bread away from him and took a handful of mulch up from the ground, sprinkling it on the bread.

The kid, being young and dumb, began eating the bread once again. "Uhm..." The girl looked over at the kid eating mulch and dirt, seeming to not care. "Well I'm new in this condo-"

Madison cut the girl off. "I think you mean hell." The girl shook her head, confused and a bit bothered by being cut off. "It's alright, we all make mistakes."

"My name's Adrianna..uhm...sorry for bothering you, I'll go." She began mumbling, turning away. Madison stood up, wrapping up her bread and grabbing Adrianna's hand to turn her back away.

"No, you're...fin-" Then, behind them, they heard a loud, angry yell. Madison turned around to see a 30 year old woman, holding the kid that was eating mulch.

Her eyes darted to Madison, letting go of her son, stomping towards Madison. "I told you to stop poisoning my child!" She screamed, Madison grabbing Adrianna and running away from the angry Karen.

"What are you..what are you doing?!" Adrianna yelled, trying to run with the insane 15 year old.

Madison dragged Adrianna to the gym, running behind the building. Adrianna fell down on her knees, heavily breathing. "What the...hell...?" Madison shook her head. "I don't even know what I did wrong."

Adrianna looked up at Madison, standing up. "You don't..you don't know what you- you fed wood to a child!" Adrianna shook her head.

"Hm..oh yeah, I did do that! Well..how was that wrong? If he choked and died then uh..now some kids in Africa aren't hungry." Madison didn't seem to care much for the child.

"You're..weird." Adrianna shook her head. "You know, you never even told me your name."

"Oh, I'm Madison. Madison Brown."

"Well..since you're all fancy all of a sudden I'll be fancy as well." Adrianna held out her hand. "I'm Adrianna Williams."

"Pleasure to meet cha!" Madison then shook Adrianna's hand. "Well, I need to go or my dad will get mad at me again, buh-bye!" Madison gave a goofy wave and ran off before Adrianna could say anything.

"Pleasure to meet you too...Madison Brown..." Adrianna held her hands to her chest, smiling to herself.
