2. First real Challenge.

I have been in the forest for four day and I'm still trying to track the abominable monster.

Aside from the wild rabbits and the single crystal slime I have encountered, I'm yet to meet any other monster.

"I wonder, what will I do when I'm done with this? Leave the village? Or... I wonder"

I don't have anything to learn in the village anymore... I wonder if I can become an adventurer or something... but first I would have to survive this goal. Leveling up is the way to go... this sounds nice...

I noticed a plant that I almost ignored!

I whispered as I stared at the golden plant that was in the the ice covered clearing.

I was so shocked by the description I entered a daze. Such an item exits? I'm I sure it isn't a dream. I closed my eyes and pinched my cheeks.

"Ouch!... I'm not dreaming?... oh my..."

I approached it carefully because there is no way something like this is just sitting there waiting for me. Father did say one time...

'Nice and beautiful things are not easy to approach and so you must work hard to survive the ordeal for it...'

"Ah... as I thought..."

The moment I got close enough, I saw it...

An intense sense of danger struck me and I jumped to my right side near a tree.

An Ice-like plant tentacle hit the place I was standing, splashing the the snow on the ground. I pulled out my bow from my back and loaded it with the arrows made from {stone wood} branches common in the duchy. My dad thought me it's preparation.

The sense of danger hit me again, I didn't waste any moment and lept from the tree to the bushes at the left of the tree.

Crack!

An ice covered tentacle shot out from the monster, piercing into the tree at the position my head previously was and the tree started to dry up fast enough for my naked eye to see. I felt a chill crawl my spine at the sight.

"This is dangerous... but I must get my hands on that plant..."

I pointed the arrow in the bow to the place the monsters name was showing, pulled it to the limit and fired it.

A loud screech came from the monster. 8 Ice tentacles shot to the position I'm in.

"Bad!..."

I dived to the dried up tree and rowed more to the next tree. I'm very lucky this monster seems to only attack by shooting out it's tentacles.

Unfortunately I can't get too close to the monster or else I'll become a honeycomb and I still can't use the mid-ranged slashing wave attack my dad thought me. I pulled another arrow and fired it at the monster.

Another screeching sound came from behind the {FAIRY GOLD FLOWER}

I still can't see the monster's body, is it a camouflaging ability? It must be very powerful if it has not still revealed it self yet. I pulled another arrow, fired it and drew out another one very fast, shooting out tree continuous arrows...

An ice covered tentacle smashed the first one away and shot four of them to were I fired from by bending them. When I thought I will be pierced by one of them, a louder screech escaped the monster and it's tentacles missed my chest and grazed my left shoulder armour.

I heaved a sigh and wiped my cold sweat...

"This monster's defence is weak but has a higher attack, recovers by sucking nutrients from other life forms, can hid as well and using that treasure grade item to lure prey in... a troublesome monster this is..."

I need it's vital point or I'll really turn into a dried out honeycomb.

"I have to calm down now, now observe properly"

'It's attack patterns are shooting straight at the target or curve-shooting at me... wait, when I shot 3 arrows at it, it blocked only the first... let's test it out'

Behind a new tree I channeled my magic power into the arrow.

As I thought, it's easier than in a sword... I observed the place it's name was projected. It's darker at the place it is, let's see...

I jumped from the place I was while still watching the place the monster's name was projected. This time, 8 tentacles shot out, with two curving from the direction I'm running to. I moved a little to the side and the 2 tentacles went past my face and jumped, the rest pierced at my previous location. My agility is my saving grace.

From where the tentacles shot from, I aimed at the centre from behind a new tree and fired.

'Shit!'

A single tentacle curved behind a tree aiming from my back.

"Keeeeh!!"

The Ice cactus screamed and the tentacles convulsed piercing my right leg. I immediately pulled out my sword and sliced off the tentacle.

Boom!!

An explosion rang out from the position of the Ice cactus, I turn and saw that the name of the monster had greyed out.

"Ahh!"

My whole body started to ache from the injury.

'Damn! Was I poisoned? or is it, it's draining ability!?'

I turned and looked at the monster corpse that showed itself after dying. A giant plant monster of about 6 meters in height.

I crawled to the [Fairy Gold Flower] and plucked 1 of the 5 petals. I immediately threw it into my mouth.

This appeared in front of my eyes. I was shocked when I saw it. I rushed to the monster...

I gulped down. This is the first time I ever used [Clairvoyance] on a plant monster corpse.

Because of the increase in stats, most of my skills have all become passive.

A grey fog shot out from my body and covered the copse. The fog moved back to my body and the copse was no more.

But I immediately activated my [Clairvoyance] on myself...
