[RESIGNATION LETTER.jpg in the first comment]

As soon as Don Ernesto's assistant arrived, Jorge handed her the letter and left.

At that time the company was practically empty. Employees were just starting to arrive.

Jorge walked as fast as possible towards the exit to avoid meeting anyone and having to explain the situation to them.

He entered the parking lot—well, it was just a small space between the company and the street, delimited by a few lines on the ground—and, as he walked to his car, he found many others parked around his.

(Damn, it's still 20 minutes early. Why did they arrive so early?)

(To get a parking spot. Of course.)

(I would have left the letter on the secretary's desk and left. Why didn't I think of it?)

"What happened, my Georch?" One of the employees got out of one of the cars that surrounded Jorge's. "Ready for this shitty job?"

(Fuck.)

"Hey, look, it's Charli Jr," another of the employees said mockingly. "Finally you come early."

(Well, fuck it.)

Jorge got into his car and started it.

"What? You're leaving now?" one of the arriving employees asked.

"Look, what a baller," commented one more employee.

"You think you can do whatever the fuck you want cuz your daddy father knows the owner?" someone else said.

Several employees began to gather around Jorge's car.

(Ah, come the fuck on.)

"Hey," one of the clerks from the administrative area said. "When you come back text me so you can help me make some reports, cuz you're really smart."

(That's your fucking job, and I don't even know about it!)

"Oh yeah, help us too," one of the clerks from the accounting department said. "After all, you are really good with numbers."

(You should too!)

"Where you going, Georch?" an employee who had just arrived asked. "You're really behind on that ISO 9000 thingy. Come on, get to work, even if you have to stay until dawn again."

(No. Not anymore. That's your problem now.)

"Dibs on his parking spot," an employee who returned to his car and started it said.

"Well, let's see how he gets out," said the employee who had parked right behind him.

"Let him go," said another of the employees. "Maybe he finally buys the donuts he owes us."

Several of the employees laughed.

"And, besides, he's going to leave us that parking spot."

"I already said dibs."

"As if I'm gonna let you have it."

"You stupid fucks. In the end I'm gonna take it."

"Well, nobody's going to have it if they don't let him out."

When they heard this, the employees got into their respective cars and moved them. Finally Jorge had barely enough space to go out.

(They won't pay me the week I was here, right?)

Jorge carefully exited the parking lot and drove off.

He soon heard a crash between several cars and a lot of insults from the employees.

------------------------------------------------

Jorge parked in front of the closest Starstruck® and ordered a Mocca Frappucchino Macchiato Caramel Venti. It was 7:56 am.

With his drink in hand, Jorge went to the terrace and sat at one of the tables outside. In front of him, more and more cars were speeding by.

(They're probably late for work. Poor assholes.)

Jorge took a sip of his coffee and closed his eyes. The coffee tasted so much better than all those espressos he'd had to drink last week.

(I will finally be able to sleep.)

Jorge opened his eyes.

It was 8:00 am.

(I should be working by now, and it would be the same shit over again.)

(But I don't have to worry about any of that anymore.)

(I don't have to worry about anything anymore.)

(Well, except for my next job. I can't put in my resume that I only worked there for a week; no one would take that as job experience and everyone would think I can't last in any job position, and if I don't have job experience, I'd have the same issues to get another job.)

(Are all jobs like this, or just the ones related to my career? Why was I never told that my job would be so stressful and depressing?)

(But if I don't look for a job related to my degree, what else am I going to work on?)

(What will become of my life?)

(What do I want to do with my life?)
