Comedy, not Tragedy

It was a bit funny.

Just a little bit.

From all the important things that could have been done during the apocalypse, these people decided to plot against him, a considerably invisible person in the base.

It made him feel slightly incredulous at how these people managed to survive by just scheming, but it made him feel like he was watching some intense dog-blood drama that he did not know he was a part of.

Oliver had a slight smile on his face as he felt the bullet pierce through the flesh of his shoulder. Blood staining his worn-out leather jacket, not long after, his entire body was riddled with bullet holes. He bet that he looked pretty sinister from his smiling and bloody self.

Despite that, he observed everything with a bit of schadenfreude.

It's not that everything didn't hurt like hell as he felt every bloody hole burn with intense pain. It was just a little hilarious to think how these people's minds worked.

He let his eyes wander to a red-eyed woman with luxurious, blonde locks hold her gun and firing it with each consecutive second that passed. She bit her ruby lips at the unexpected harsh recoil of a small gun as it was probably her first time using such a weapon with her dainty, pale fingers.

His eyes drifted behind the beautiful woman were other women and even a couple of men. All of them had their own traits: different ethnicities, clothing, hair color, personalities and so on. Though they all had one thing in common. Beauty. They were all beautiful.

These beauties were considered the flowers of the base leader, Aiden Locke. A truly powerful man with a strong sense of leadership. He had managed to gather a group of survivors to build a safe haven from the zombies. He had dual abilities, water and wind, which attracted others that sought to hug a thigh.

Oliver was no different. When the apocalypse started, he had hurriedly left the city with plans to go to a close relative's country house that had large walls and a sizable farm. He thought he could just live the rest of his life out there. It may have been a selfish idea, though luckily for some survivors, it fell through the moment he met that man. During that time, he encountered Aiden on the road.

Admittedly, Oliver was a bit of a face con as his own face could only be considered average, so when he saw a seemingly helpless handsome man with chiseled features, straight nose, piercing black eyes and short, but silky ebony hair, how could he just abandon such a man to be devoured by ugly zombies?!

So, he ran over the zombie that was about to attack the handsome man and told the man to hop in. Aiden wasted no time and climbed on to escape the zombies. Oliver drove both of them to his relative's country house, only to find it empty and ready to be occupied.

They lived together for a few days, just the two of them. It was awkward at first, but they slowly grew closer together. Their isolated world suddenly expanded when Aiden suggested taking in survivors to create a safety zone.

And Oliver had no reason to deny the man in his strong sense of justice.

From there, Oliver discovered that Aiden wasn't as helpless as he thought, in fact, he was powerful! He knew survival skills, fighting techniques and even showed his dual abilities that appeared within the week of the apocalypse. He grabbed on tight to this meat pie falling from the sky and shamelessly claimed that since Oliver saved his life, Aiden should repay his debt!

Aiden, to Oliver's pleasant surprise, agreed to his unreasonableness. His stupid unreasonableness. He still felt a bit ridiculous that Aiden consented in helping him, basically deadweight, through the apocalypse.

As the years passed by, they became each other's close confidants and assistants. Though, it may have been half one-sided as Oliver only ever gave suggestions of what to improve on the base, while Aiden saved his life multiple times. Oliver felt that he could never fully repay the man for his help.

He watched as this handsome man had tempted many people to attempt to seduce the militaristic man. Soon these people that tried to seduce him, ended up being seduced themselves. Thus, forming an unintentional harem for Aiden.

Oliver often made fun of the man for his extreme popularity in the base, ignoring the slight stinging in his little heart.

Though the man always claimed to Oliver that he had not touched a single flower in the garden, which sated his ego greatly, despite not knowing why Aiden's denial made him happy.

A strange, good-looking man that got flustered on the wrong subjects. He kept his calm when surrounded by man-eating creatures, but couldn't tolerate a bit of teasing from Oliver.

Maybe that was why he was being executed by the very same untouched harem of Aiden. He was a bit too close to the base leader who was considered unreachable to everyone else. They might have expected someone more gorgeous and more powerful to be close to the all mighty leader...

Well then, that makes this entire situation even funnier.

If they wanted to get closer to Aiden, they shouldn't plot. They should have gotten to know him. Aiden wasn't some permafrost, he was more like snow. Cold at first, before completely melting into lukewarm water in your hands.

It doesn't matter now. Oliver slightly smirked in amusement at these ridiculous so-called human beings that constantly fought over Aiden's attention, instead of focusing on the big picture.

Even if Oliver considered himself somewhat useless when compared to Aiden, he still kept the base's best interest in mind. Even though he considers himself selfish, he was still unlike these utterly wicked, selfish fools. He refused to die in such a dumb way. He knew that they were planning something, but once they were informed of a weapons store being flooded with both zombies and guns, he knew that Aiden would go to check it out for the sake of the base.

So, he was determined to stay and keep the "harem" in check while Aiden leaves. He doesn't need to worry about him, Oliver can, at the very least, handle these people.

Though, he never expected that they would plan a direct execution rather than their usual taunting and physical bullying.

He refused to die from his own incompetence and his lack of insight. Everything must and will end with his own terms.

Oliver used his last remaining energy to transport his entire body into his space.

Yes. He had a rare space ability, everyone in the base knew that. But it couldn't transport any living organisms, though plants seem to be an exception. He had tried and let's just say that a live chicken came out as a dead one within seconds. So, he knew that him going into his space was equivalent to suicide.

However, he refused to die in the hands of such brainless and greedy people.

Oliver decided to die by his own hands.

This was the first and last time he saw the inside of his space: an empty white room, not very big. It could probably fit a twin bed and a table with enough room between the furniture. It was filled with menial supplies as he gave important items to the base as he only needed enough to survive a few days during the supply trip. He just did not expect that the road trip would suddenly turn into an execution grounds.

Too bad Aiden was distracted and led away by one of the beautiful people with the fact, or lie, of there being a weaponry store nearby. Oliver never really trusted others, neither did Aiden. That's why they relied on each other, or rather, Oliver relied on Aiden. That man never really did like putting burdens on him, the strange, caring man.

In the white room, Oliver felt his breathing come to a sudden stop and his eyes gently closed, a tear slowly escaped his eye. He had not noticed how his space seemed to swallow itself and him before exploding into bits, absorbing everything inside the space. The explosion seemed to push on the walls and expanded the white room dramatically.

Before everything disappeared, a single thought remained, 'Will Aiden miss me, even just a bit? I hope he does.' And gave his small life one last chuckle at his pointless and selfish thought as he believed that Aiden will still have others to comfort him over his death. That devilishly popular, somber man.

His space became empty of everything, yet strangely, his space remained and even became bigger. As if waiting for Oliver's return.

This novel is considered to be more of a mindless read, there will be serious moments, but nothing much to really analyze, unlike my other novels.

I just wanted an excuse to write a MC that was randomly powerful or something?

I'm putting this novel out early to see the response, if its positive, it'll update more frequently, if "meh", I'll update it like once/twice a week.

thanks for reading!
