1 Theft System

Marcus looked up at the blue sky. Moments ago, he thought he was dead, however, it all seemed like a big blur now.

The world above him was shining brightly testing his pupils and causing them to adjust.

There was also a light rain pressing against the grass beneath him. There was the sound of crickets, and a gentle gale that caused him to brush back his hair. For some reason, he didn't remember how he got here. All he knew was that he was still alive.

He walked along the river bank and pushed his hands into the water. It was cold and had a certain force behind it. However, then he realized his hands looked different. He used to have big hands that he was proud of, however, now his hands were skinny and long.

He tried to check his reflection, and then realized he wasn't seeing what he expected. He now had black hair on his head dripping past his shoulders. He also looked somewhat handsome. Much more handsome then he remembered. His entire reality felt broken, and he felt lost in a different world.

[Congratulations, you've been granted thief the system for reincarnation]

Marcus gasped before he fell down and pushed his hands into the grass. It felt too real to just be a game. This was clearly a world. Yet, then he looked up and saw dragons flying in the sky heading towards the city in the background. There were also a few women washing clothes down the stream, not to far away from him, and a few boats with fisherman singing songs. He, at this moment, was freaking out.

…..

Marcus thought It was a joke, yet, it wasn't a joke. The next instant he saw a gigantic cloud of flame shoot up into the air. The dragon that he had seen just a second ago, seemed to have hundreds of men sliding down from wires attached over the walls of the city.

It looked like some sort of raid he would've seen in a game. However, he felt perfectly safe. He was outside the city after all. Why would they attack the plains next to the city? He looked around trying to search for where the beginner level monsters were. However, as he searched around all he saw was a pack of women running away from some gigantic men.

[Ding! It is recommended you don't save women. If you do, you'll exit the negative range of notoriety. Your class is dependent on notoriety.]

Marcus laughed as he would be crazy to risk his life for some women he had never meet before. Perhaps if it was his… that special person in his last life he'd jump in and go for the jugular. However, he couldn't bare to watch as the maces spun towards the innocent women's bodies.

"AaaH!"

The woman was cut as Marcus ran away not daring to look back. She didn't sound like an NPC would. Her voice seemed rich and full of agony. However, three more screams followed before a loud laugh spread towards the bush in which he was running.

'This is crazy. What kind of reincarnation puts you in a warzone. If this was a game, this would never happen! Where exactly am I, and where am I supposed to go?'

He entered into the forest and attempted to hop over a bush. He ended up jumping nearly nine feet in the air. He twisted his body before he ended up just narrowly reaching a branch.

This was his first time experiencing the agility of a thief. He hoped nimbly once again stretching his feet in the air as he flailed his arms.

The sounds of a few more bodies plopped in the background as the harbor city fire started reaching through the air. However, before he could make it twenty feet away a gigantic crocodile was staring at him with a man riding on his back.

"Prepare to die," He screamed as his crocodile charged forward. He swiveled the blade right past marcus's shadow before he felt himself hoping to higher then he ever thought possible. He landed on a tree branch before he noticed a fist coming towards his face.

"Boom!"

He flew backwards and stumbled right in front of the alligator's mouth.

"Gregory, check him for the mark. If he's a genuine Fortuna, cut him up. Otherwise, tie him to the tree for the enemy."

Marcus gulped before he saw a man lifting his shirt.

His heart was beating quickly, and he felt a need to escape. However, he could tell these men were much stronger then him. He struggled as his shirt was lifted as he was searched for a brand.

"Hey, Genus, you're never going to believe this, but he's one of us! He's a liberato!"

The two men laughed as they looked down on him with a smile on their faces.

"Ha, sorry for beating you up friend. We thought you were the enemy." Gregory said picking him up by his hand. Marcus was extremely shaken up by this point and could barely walk after that last hit. He looked over at Gregory and Genus and found himself wondering why they didn't kill him.

"So, do you two want to tell me what is going on in the city," Marcus asked wiping off the dust from his clothes. The man who was on the crocodile alighted before the monster seemed to disappear from where it once was.

"Ha, you're kidding. We liberato are being raided by the Fortuna. They're the republic scum who think freedom is just a joke," Genus laughed. He petted back his exquisite fur coat seemingly revealing his round face.

"We're going to need to go back into the city now and see if we can kill some fortuna! However, we're not going to make you go with us friend. You look like you could die if a twig fell on you…"

Marcus nodded his head. "Well, you're right about that. Thanks for the save Genus, and Gregory. If I ever see you in the city, I'll buy you guys some lunch."

He immediately hopped off leaving the two baffled.

"You know, Gregory, I thought he was going to come with us. He's going to die if he goes that way. The main war is happening in that direction, right?

Gregory looked over towards the trees. "Hmmm, well, perhaps he'll run into a wanderer who'll help him out. After all, he seems pretty lucky to run into us"

Genus nodded his head as the two of them turned watching the bushes close.

….

Marcus hopped up into the trees as he waited for his timer to go down. He didn't dare head towards the fire until his mission was completed.

Basically, even though his memories were scattered, he still remembered what a survival game was. It was a game where everything thing would try to kill you. Hence, since he would get experience by a timer going down, he decided to stay in the tree as screams joined him in the branches

[It is recommended you choose a build for your thief, two options available. 1) Dexterity thief – increases ability with long range weapons, 2) Agility thief – increases attack with two handed daggers.]

Marcus thought this was a no brainer. In the games he used to play, agility thieves were meant for people strong in stealth. Hence, he was immediately drawn to stealth. He was planning on stealing a lot of stuff in this life and didn't want to have to remain a distance from his foes. Yet, he had one burning question.

"I'm not sure If I can do this, but can I ask if sneak is an option for this thief."

[Ding! Correct! However, it requires level 3 steal to learn. Currently you have two skills you can learn.]

"Put all points into Steal! What will that get me?"

[Steal will level up to level 2. Next stage will require 3 SP points.]

"Alright, I choose the agility thief build, and wish to learn Steal."

Marcus jumped down the tree and sighed noticing fires spreading all around him. It was mixed in with the green trees, and a few wild birds that were flying away from the danger zones.

Unfortunately, at this moment, he realized he had no weapon, nor any way to truly defend himself.
