11 CHAPTER 9

JAYDEN'S POV:

The wall exploded with the bullet projecting through, breaking it down completely, thus drenching everyone on the other side of the wall.

"What happened to the Regulator?" someone cried.

"I switched it off!" Cole came dashing out of breath, "Is anyone hurt?"

Thank heavens!

"Get her to the hospital!"

She was untied and with sufficient emergency aids, she was taken away to the hospital.

The victim's safe, is surrounded by the cops, the suspect's under watch too. But I just can't get rid of the incomplete feeling stuck in me. It was rather disturbing.

Cole came from the other side, handing me a towel, "Hey, you okay?"

I nodded, but he continued observing me.

My mind says, 'That's my best friend! He just know when something bothers me! I'm grateful to have such a blessing.

"You can tell me, Cole," I asserted.

"Yeah, I will," he opined,

"You look like a Polish Chicken!"

A what? Ugh, this is embarrassing. Thank Clouds, I didn't say that loudly!

Oh, and I definitely take back what I said about being grateful and blessed. Ew!

Now, let's play it cool, "Is that what you were trying to figure out the whole time? Dumb."

"Yes! I knew you looked so familiar! But hey, not everyone get to look like a Polish Chicken!" he replied.

"What can I say? A "Good job, Jay!" or a "Well done, Jay!" would have done, you know," I implied.

He chuckled, "But seriously Bro, you look like-"

"A polish chicken! I got it!"

"Hey, I meant worried!" he acts all considerate whatsoever.

I paused, "I look worried?", and asked the obvious.

"You know you do. What's the matter?" he asked.

"Now we're talking!

I'm not sure, but something feels void." I continued, "Is there anything we missed, Cole?"

He remained in silence for a while.

And then, after a while he cried, "Yes! The quote from your vision!"

"Oh right! The Again-Difference! I cried, "But what about it? I have no idea."

"Neither do I," he sighed, "Hope it's not a bad thing."

We returned to the station after examining the site for a while.

AT THE STATION~

The atmosphere in the station was unusually weird and quiet.

The officers were all standing agitatedly and gave us a tight-lipped smile when they noticed us. This is so not like them at all.

"Lan, Where's Tommy?" I asked one of our department's constables.

He gestured his body language towards the main hall of the station.

No cops that belonged to our Sector were seated. They all looked edgy and uncomfortable.

As we entered the Main hall, I heard an undeniably irritating familiar voice, "Aw! Look who's here! If isn't our Maddox! Long time, no see!"

What is he doing here? I looked at Robert with a face that's between baffled and trying not to show reactions.

He gestured me to take a look at my phone.

And I saw the message he had sent me earlier. It said,

'Jayden, he's back with his team. Superintendent Giovanni. He's back for good. Come back soon!'

Ugh. Shit.

I showed the message to Cole. As given, he was annoyed too.

"Now, now, is someone avoiding me?" he interpreted.

I did not respond. He came near me and continued, "Now that I'm back for good, let's get along well and good as always. See you tomorrow at work!" he left.

But the tension in the room didn't seem to calm. As I looked farther, I spotted Tommy. He was mopping the floor. He didn't look happy.

I asked, "What are you doing there, Tommy?" He looked at me, but as someone cleared their throat, he looked back at the floor.

"I'm asking you!" I yelled.

"I can answer that," someone entered the picture.

It was James Ball, the most loyal shoe-licker underling of Giovanni.

Giovanni and his underlings are the most accurate definitions of how police forces shouldn't be. They bully, look down on people with less power and authority than theirs' and work on cases purely favouring those of them with money and power. They make the poor to be scapegoats for the rich. In short, they're disgusting.

We never got along because of our polar-end morals. I often had conflicts with those men including the Superintendent while they were here.

They were serving at a different precinct to help with a case of the country's most popular businessman, of course with money intending motives.

But now, as their case went smooth, they're here again.

Honestly, our station was better off without them. Things are going to get harder for us, for sure.

He continued, "Well, this Rookie here didn't know the manners to stay out of my business. He was so concerned in showing his loyalty for some Mr Maddox, when I was trying to visit your office. That's how the coffee accidentally spilled. I guess he didn't know who the boss here is,"

My blood boiled hearing him say those things. I went straight up there. "Tommy, leave. This is not your job."

"And You! Who exactly is the boss here?" I asked him pointing my fingers at him, intending to provoke him.

He cackled, "You didn't know?"

Before he could continue, I interrupted, "As far as I'm concerned, you are not. And to concern you as well, I'm your higher official, I hope you'd watch it."

"Ha! We're both sergeants, just so you know." He stated.

"Sergeant Major, it is, just so you know!" I continued, shutting his pit mouth,

"And, he's called Tommy, not Rookie."

He turned to Tommy, "Stay!" he yelled.

"Leave Tommy!" I yelled too.

He didn't know what to do as he stood there nervously.

"Tommy's staying, and going to clean," the crap-head said.

I looked at Tommy, "Leave unless you want to get fired. Did you forget whose department you are in? What are you scared of?"

Just when Tommy was grabbing his coat, I noticed red burns on his hands, which I assumed was caused by the coffee.

"Wait, Tommy, before you go," I grabbed James' pocket and took out a few dollar notes and said, "Get your scalds treated."

I let go off my grip from his shirt and walked away. But to make things worse, he grabbed my collar, yelled, "You Bastard!", and punched me on the face.

I returned the scumbag his punch, breaking his nose and making it bleed, by accident, of course.

He grabbed my neck and dashed me on a desk, making a blood-cut on my forehead.

I heard Robert, Cole and the others trying to restrain me from going any further, but I didn't bother and continued to beat the shit out of the guy.

We were holding onto each other's collars to make the next move aggressively.

"Back off, both of you!" We heard someone wail in rage.

We turned back to the Colonel when he continued, "Do you have any idea on what's going on?"

Everyone looked at him puzzled.

That's when Tommy came in, panting the heck out of himself. His tightened face expressions told us he was a bearer of bad news. And we were right.

"You're still here?" Lan asked him.

He opened up,

"Bianca is missing from the hospital."
