8 What Happened in the Haunted House

The haunted house which couples went in one after another was filled with screeches and laughter. One couple, or not, in particular was having their not-so-sweet time inside. The woman with her long brown hair down because her hair tie was lost along the way, yelled at the top of her lungs. She thought she was going to lose her voice. The man who was holding her hand tight laughed out loud because of her string of shrieks. It was so loud that his ears were only filled with her voice alone and no one else's. It was dark but he could follow her every movement and had a wide grin on his face the whole time.

When they reached a corner which had some white clothes hanging from all over the place, a white figure suddenly flew out from nowhere and was going to snatch Dorami but Kenyu caught her first. He hugged her with his firm hands and hissed at the figure. He almost cursed before he realized the woman in his arms was trembling. She then found herself hugging him back with no intention of letting the man go. He patted her back gently to soothe her. The faint scent from Dorami was nice to his nose. He started feeling the butterflies in his stomach and his heart thumped out of pace. He finally understood why couples liked going into haunted houses together.

Kenyu waited for Dorami to calm down but it seemed like it would take forever so he decided to lift her up to carry her over his shoulder but surprisingly, she wrapped her legs around his waist instead and buried her face in the crook of his neck. What a bold move. Kenyu almost bled from his nose at that instance. He used his hands to support and hold her, while trying his best to control his lower half. They finally reached the exit door.

"Dodo, we are at the exit now."

Kenyu whispered. Dorami then jumped down and ran outside as fast as a bullet. The handsome man crouched down at the door and wiped the sweat off his forehead. It was too dangerous. Her hot breath still lingered at his neck and her leftover scent made him feel lightheaded. He touched his neck lightly.

"Crap… I'm really going to go crazy.." He muttered to himself.

Dorami was hiding herself in a toilet stall after her embarrassing moments in the haunted house. She vowed to herself that she would never go into haunted houses again. She thought back to how she got physically intimate with a male friend whom she just met again after ten years. She grabbed her head in distress. They never touched this much before. When they were in middle school, their hands only brushed against each other a few times by accidents. Dorami wanted to disappear into the earth because she couldn't face Kenyu anymore.

Kenyu finished drinking two bottles of water while waiting for Dorami near the haunted house. His throat somehow became dry after the experience at the house. He did not know where his colleague had gone to but he knew he had to wait for her there. She might have needed some time to calm herself down. His blushed a little when he remembered what had happened half an hour ago. Dorami could be unpredictable sometimes. He could never expect her to make a move like that.

"Kenyu!"

Kenyu turned to look for the person who called his name. Then, there he saw Jo-Ee and Sual. They both had two sticks of sausages in their hands and the grocery bag was not with Jo-Ee anymore.

"Do you want one?"

Sual offered one sausage to Kenyu while munching on another one. His eyes were still fixed on the sausage he handed to Kenyu. The younger man understood and told Dorami's brother that he was not hungry yet and the other could have it.

"Where is Dorami?"

Jo-Ee asked him before she took a big bite of her sausage. If Kenyu didn't know, he would think that she and Sual were siblings instead. He cleared his throat.

"I'm not sure too. She ran out of the haunted house and I don't know where she had gone to."

"Understood."

Jo-Ee took the last bite of the sausage and walked straight to the female restroom near the house. She stood in front of a closed door of a toilet stall and sighed.

"Dorami, are you in there?"

Silence…

"Dorami."

Silence…

"Dorami, if you don't open the door, I'm going to break it."

Jo-Ee sounded stern this time. She was ready to kick the door open but the person on the other side unlocked it first. Dorami who was standing in front of her looked like she just came back from a war. Her eyes were swollen and her hair was like a bird nest. Her clothes were soaked in sweat, and maybe tears and snots too.

A total mess.

Jo-Ee could guess what had happened back in the haunted house. She had too much fun with Sual and the ghosts that she forgot she left Dorami alone with Kenyu. The poor girl might have been too scared and held onto the man like her life depended on him. Well, it was her fault that Dorami became afraid of ghosts and such. She should have never told her about the tales of a headless doctor when they were young.

Jo-Ee took her best friend's hand and let her wash her face at the sink. She combed Dorami's hair and took her own hair tie to tie for her best friend instead. Dorami when scared and depressed was like a child who needed a lot of care.

After they finished tidying Dorami up, Jo-Ee held her hand and took her out of the restroom and walked over to the two men who were waiting outside. Dorami had her head down the whole time and Kenyu was looking at everywhere else except her. Jo-Ee noticed it and she knew she had to do something. She had a meaningful smirk on her face.
