A Wife's Plight

***

(Jing Xiuying POV)

When I woke I knew that today was going to be a good day. Turning to my right I became a little gloomy at his disappearance before instantly cheering myself up. He gave me an entire day with him and I just can't wait for it to begin!

'Hmph, that little brat will have no leeway today. I knew from the start she had ill intentions! I can't even remember the last time my darling brought anyone back as a new disciple. The only time he did such things would probably be when he was still accepting disciples. Even then that was before he met me!'

He's no demon, but he definitely doesn't fit the image of a saint either. The most he's ever done for those in need is giving them money or items, never has he taken them in for shelter nor directly accepting them as one of the sect's disciples.

The moment he spoke about her I knew there might be something amiss about the situation. But I couldn't simply directly act upon it without any information. Now knowing that she was a descendant of his savior I can't easily kick her out. His current attitude which seems to lean towards nurturing her is another reason. In fact that's most probably the 'business' he needs to deal with before he spends the entire day with me.

But It seems like he knew nothing about the matter either. That is until she showed those two items. Shouldn't that debt be repaid already though? From the sounds of things, as a mortal, her ancestor should have already enjoyed life to its fullest. At least from which money could buy, this debt shouldn't still extend to this point.

This still doesn't really explain why he directly brought her to the sect though. If anything, those two items she showed seem the most suspicious. I wanted to stay and listen in, but darling kissed me on the forehead and my brain fell into bliss for a moment. By the time I realized it he had already brought me to the door! I couldn't just say I wanted to stay at that point so I did the best I could in that situation.

Once I got out of their view I immediately went back to listen into their conversation, but then I remembered that the entire house has a sound proof array which of course darling had to make. It was originally supposed to be our house after all, but just as he finished it, he found an even better spot and that is of course our current home.

Dejectedly, I went home to await my one and only. Constantly, I sensed the area awaiting his return like a good little wife would. But once he did return he didn't even come to the house instead going to stand under his little pavilion. I was a little mad, but seeing his fascinated expression through the window I knew I couldn't hold it against him. So instead I used a stealth technique to sneak up on him.

Sitting there with him admiring the stars made me forget the headache I was having about that person. The warmth of his body made me feel secure and safe. It was only while I felt that feeling that I realized what could happen if I let that thing take my hubby away from me. I felt more and more reason to speak to him about the matter.

I shouldn't go against him and possibly get into an argument about it, though. If he ever feels estranged from me there's a chance that brat might find out and find some corner in his heart to dig into. If that ever happens that parasite will definitely seize the chance to embed herself deeper and deeper.

Later during the day I must try and get him away from her as much as possible. But I can't be direct about it, subtly will be key during our delightful day.

At that moment I felt that someone was approaching the house with my Qi sense. Tidying myself up a bit I sat up in bed awaiting his arrival to our bedroom.

The door slowly swung open and his body gradually appeared from the door frame.

"Y-Ying'er? You're awake so soon? I'm sorry, I thought I'd be finished before you woke up."

It was a reaction I kind of expected. Although he was one of the best cultivators around he seemed to enjoy living like a mortal most of the time. When he doesn't sense any active danger or reason to, he won't use the extent of most of his skills. Such as Qi sense and his ability to teleport. Teleporting itself is already an extremely difficult skill to learn since it involves the law of space. In fact I only know of 3 people in the entire realm that have learned this skill and he's one of them.

"Oh It's okay! I only woke up because of how excited I was about today!"

His slightly anxious and worried appearance instantly morphed into a calm and soft smile. Just from this one look my heart was melting! And there was more to come!

"Oh I see! Well since that's the case let's hurry up." He swiftly walked toward me before scooping me up in his arms.

"Kyaa~"

'He's picking me up!~ This is my husband!'

Wrapping my arms around his neck I stared lovingly into his eyes. It was a dark shade of brown, almost black at times. But this set of eyes gave a sense of warmth, comfort, and calm every time I saw it.

While I was enamored with these eyes I realized we were closing into the Grand Hall. A small memory flashed before me of a time before this place became the grand sect it is now.

It was just a little while after I met him. I came to visit his mountain and I witnessed a horrible scene.

At the time my beloved was with another woman and not wanting to be noticed I hid in the forest. What was odd was that the woman seemed to want his affection deep inside, but was agitated most of the time on the surface.

At first I was only going to ignore her existence, but as she left she turned and wound up a kick. She struck and hit my beloved directly on the shin. Hearing him scream in any way was agony for me. Her kick might not have been full of malice but the mere act of hurting her beloved was intolerable for me.

If you love someone you shouldn't hurt them like that, that's abuse! So from then on I decided that she had to go, from the start I didn't plan on getting rid of the others, but somehow they became tangled up in my plan and at that point they had to go too. Perhaps at some point someone had leaked to the other suitresses what was happening and they stopped coming all together, but it was a win-win for me either way. They stopped trying anything all together which saved me the hassle of doing any extra clean up work.

"We're here."

His gentle voice echoed in my ears as he put me down. In front of us was an array behind the Grand Hall which took us out of the sect discreetly. There was another on our mountain peak, but that one was for emergencies only.

We stepped onto the array and darling took out several spirit stones before arranging them into a specific pattern around the array.

With a flash we were teleported away and reappeared in a small residence. From the outside the hustle and bustle known only the cities were heard. The residence itself only consisted of two buildings and a courtyard which surrounded it. Exiting the residence I held on tightly to hubby's arm.

The streets were crowded, but not to the point of being packed into one another. There usually remained an arm's length between groups of people. We were in the middle district of the city and as such there were barely, if any commoners around.

Knowing exactly where I wanted to go I began dragging him along.

"I know just where to go! Come on, you'll love it!"

"Okay, okay! Slow down, we have plenty of time. Are you in that much of a rush?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm just so excited, it's been a couple weeks since we've been able to do this!"

Soon we arrived at a slightly old looking building with a sign hung out the front. The sign stated: Sunken Tea Pavilion.

"Darling do you remember this place?~"

"How could I forget? This was the first time I spoke to you. Little did I know that I was going to find love here."

"Fufu~ Come, let's sit."

We even sat in the same place as we met and ordered the same things. The only difference this time was that we were together. There were few people within the establishment, perfect for the mood of low conversations. But this was only the beginning of the day. It would only get more exciting from here.

Soon our tea arrived and gracefully I poured tea for both of us.

"So what kind of business did you take care of this morning?"

"Oh that? I only had to give a few things to that girl. I noticed an event that my fifth brought up to me and it seems that event would align nicely with her skill set."

"Oh is it that little contest a month from now?"

"Yes, it is. From what I've seen I think her skills to track should be no problem. Her talent for doing so is extraordinary."

"Oh? That reminds me we haven't tested her talent have we? We should do so once we return."

"Oh it must have slipped my mind. That's for later though, right now it's just you and me."

"It seems that now you have this new and young girl to take care of, you'll just abandon me." I acted playfully sad.

"Oh Ying'er, how could I abandon you? She could never replace you in my heart. Do you really have no faith in me as your husband? Besides, why would I touch her? If I'm going to teach her I would be a failure if I began to sexually harass a junior. That would be an abuse of my power!"

'I'm not worried about you doing it! I'm worried about that parasite that's trying to attach to you!'

"Oh? But aren't you going to start teaching her now? That would take a lot of time no? I wouldn't want to interrupt your sessions, so from now on I'll be all alone. *Sniff* *Sniff*" I started to playfully fake cry.

"Ying'er, look at me." He placed a hand on each of my cheeks before guiding me to look at me.

"Ying'er. I know you're playing, but I want you to know that you are more important to me than she is and I don't think that will change anytime soon."

Seeing the look in his eyes I felt like I knew what was going to come next. Slowly he moved his mouth to mine and gave a firm kiss. Instantly, my worries disappeared as I felt his reassurance. I wanted to do a little more, but I didn't want to embarrass him or myself. We were still in public after all and by a window nonetheless. Anyone would probably be able to see us acting like this.I was fine with him being it, but others seeing it too might be just a little too much for me.

His affectionate gaze made me rethink for a second if I really wanted to spend the entire day trying to plot against that thing.

'Maybe that thing can wait. I just need to enjoy the day. They don't come often after all.'

I'm sorry once again for the delay. This time it was a little more serious then gaming with the bois. A water pipe burst, flooding the kitchen of my home by the time I woke up and I had to deal with that.
