56 CH 56: Beasts

Jason let Rogue cry for a few more minutes before she returned to the X-Jet while he returned to the heli-carrier. At first, he was winging it. But now, he had planned out exactly what he needed to do and say that day.

Jason landed in front of all the SHIELD agents, soldiers, Avengers, and Fury while most pointed their guns at him in fear. He had his sword in hand while his wings were behind his back as he gave off a fierce presence to anyone looking at him.

As soon as he landed, Thor, Dr. Strange, and Clea landed right after behind the Avengers. Thor was the same blonde, muscle head that people always imagined him as but he gave off a feeling that was both divine and a warrior.

Dr. Strange was different from Thor, though. He was a man who looked anywhere between his late 30s to his early 50s while somehow looking like Benedict Cumberbatch. His aura was not divine but just like his name... strange. It was hard to tell anything about Dr. Strange from his aura and that would unnerve most who looked at him.

Clea, Strange's wife, was a beautiful woman who looked to be in her late 20s at most which made her stand out from strange, and most would not think that the pair were married. Jason was able to sense her demonic heritage though thanks to both his [Discernment of the Poor] and Ibuki Douji's traits.

Each of the three was staring at Jason with wary eyes and seemed like they were expecting a fight. But they did not have the same fear as the soldiers and agents. The SHIELD members feared him because he was a powerful mutant. They were afraid because he was unknown to them. Which is exactly what Jason wanted.

"Hello, friend. I have not met you before but I can feel a divine aura coming off of you. Which pantheon do you belong to?" Thor asked respectfully. He was 10s of thousands of years old so he knew better than to act carelessly around an unknown god.

'Just the question I wanted to be asked. Now I just need to play this right and I can buy the mutants some peace.'

"I am one of the members of a new pantheon as you can sense from my three partners around you. We are the gods of the mutants. You can call us the Beasts," Jason said with a voice that could freeze others' souls.

The agents backed up while the 3 magical figures nodded at their words. It made the most sense of everything. They could feel the divine aura, and 4 beings all having divine aura but not belonging to a pantheon is weird.

Jason's plan was to create gods for the mutants. Not only to give the mutants something to aspire to but also to strike fear into others. Humans fear mutants because they were different. Humans feared the kings of mutants like Magento and Xavier so they would not act too out of line with them around but they still committed their acts.

So what was the next step? What did humans fear yet respect the most? Gods! So that is what Jason planned on creating. He wanted to use himself and his Servants as a barrier and protectors of mutants while also dealing with the dirty work.

But they would not be like X-Force or other similar groups. Their acts would be public and they would have no affiliation with any particular groups but to mutant-kind as a whole. And they would punish any who attempted to hurt or abuse mutants, whether they were humans, aliens, demons, or fellow mutants.

"May I ask who is the chief of your pantheon? I mean no offense, but you do not seem like the most powerful gods out there," Dr. Strange asked. Clea gave him a look but he ignored it.

"Indeed. We are too weak to be the leaders of our pantheon otherwise we could get stomped out by any other pantheon. Out leader is elsewhere at the moment but she has taken on the name Quetzalcoatl."

The others heard the name and felt it was familiar. Dr. Strange looked at Thor but the Asgardian only shook his head as if to answer the unasked question.

'So he has not heard of the real Quetzalcoatl. That means this pantheon is really new. But as to how powerful they are, that is anyone's guess. It is better to play it safe for now.'

Dr. Strange thought as he tried to understand what was going on. The less Jason explained the more Strange would imagine. And the worst thing about experienced and intelligent people: once they get a hint, even a wrong one, they will go with it and build their own conjectures.

Jason decided to add on a bit more to fully convince them and lay down his lie.

"I am the newest member of the Pantheon and this is my first task. I was a normal mutant before I was given these divine powers and reached godhood. My mother is Magus so if you have any questions about my character, you can ask her."

Jason said while trying to appear as honest as he could. And while he technically did not lie since he just made up the Pantheon while he was the second and latest member, he made it seem like the others blessed him with his divinity.

He wanted to make it seem like anyone could become diety from the mutants if they were chosen by the existing deities. He also told them about his mother to add credibility to his story while also giving them hints of his background to try and form a psychological profile about him.
