Why,of all the people..?

Jason may be the most handsome but Nadia had eyes for only one. Austin. He was the football captain with strong jaw and intense looks.

She never understood why girls threw themselves at Jason. He had a cold exterior and an arrogant face. He also had a reputation of being a Playboy with many girls claiming that they had slept with him but in reality,he was never seen with any of them . He never interacted much with anyone,in class or outside. Yet he was every teacher's darling . He always had a perfect score and top grade in every project. This started the rumor that he had someone to help him with all the projects and also that his father paid enough to school to keep his boy in the top . Jason never denied it nor acknowledged it.

Nadia, however, hated him. They have been in the same school for many years but rarely interacted and when they did on one occasion in eight grade to collaborate on the theme for history class, he stood her up. Since then, she never gave him a second thought.

Now, with being partnered, she knew that she would be doing everything on her own. This project accounted for half her science grade. She was going through her schedule to make time table for the project, when she suddenly saw Jason walking up to her. He stopped right beside her.

"When should we meet up for the project?", he asked rather arrogantly.

Nadia could not believe what she was hearing,but made up her mind quite fast.

"You need not bother. I can do this on my own."

"But, isn't this a group project?", he pointed out with a scoff like she didn't understand the meaning.

Nadia felt herself turning red and prayed that she didn't look as embarrassed as she felt. She nodded slightly without looking up at him.

"We can meet after school if you like and discuss about what we are gonna do. Mrs.Dre said we have to submit our ideas by Monday. I have some work on Saturday and we can also work on Sunday if you're free." Nadia said it all in one go without giving him any chance to argue. He replied with a simple "sure,text me when and where." and left without another word before she could tell him that she didn't have his number to "text" him.
