1 The day I die and be reborn again

On September 5, 2030, a Tuesday, a man found himself strolling through the city streets on his way to work. He paused in front of an imposing structure and took the elevator to the highest floor, commanding a sweeping view of the streets beneath. With a sigh, he echoed a final sentiment, "All I yearned for was a good life," before taking a life-ending plunge from the building.

Upon awaking, he found himself suspended in mid-air amidst a sea of white cloud clusters. Two imposing gates loomed in front of him. Disoriented, he pondered aloud about the mysterious situation he found himself in.

His surroundings presented a blanket of clouds, akin to a blue sky canvas that formed a surreal celestial illusion. He couldn't help but hypothesize if he had somehow ended up in heaven. As he peered downwards, he noticed a brilliant, mirror-like blue surface reflecting his image.

With no other conceivable course of action, he decided to stride through the golden gates. As he ventured forward, his vision was enveloped in an overwhelming darkness that forced his eyes shut instinctively.

Slowly, he opened his eyes to a new setting. He was reclining on a bed encased within a room that emanated an aura of opulence. A Phonograph resided by his side, dwarfed by a grand chandelier positioned above him.

Two large windows outlined the space, inviting a peek into an adjacent quaint balcony. On the opposite side of the room, stood a capacious wooden dresser, accentuating the room's overall grandeur.

Confused about his location, he pondered as he gradually began to rise. With a groan, he attempted to stand up but fell back onto the bed. "What's happening? Why does my body ache so much?" He muttered, sinking down onto the floor and began to slowly creep towards the door. Pushing it open, he found himself in a modest-sized hallway.

Using the remnants of his energy, he laboriously crawled to a room adjacent to the one he had awakened in. Upon turning the lock, he recognized the familiar room – it was a bathroom. He clung onto the doorknob for support, heaving himself once more off the chilly floor.

Inside the bathroom, a sizeable shower was positioned on his left, a toilet seated on his right, and a small sink nestled between them. Mounted above the sink was a compact mirror upon which he gazed at his reflection.

"What on earth has happened to me?" He questioned himself as he gazed into the mirror, acknowledging that something seemed off. His reflection was not what it used to be, he looked younger. The mirror revealed a 15-year-old boy with lustrous, long black hair tied up into a neat ponytail, with piercing blue eyes. No, I couldn't have possibly transmigrated,he pondered before retiring to the edge of the bathtub.

Moments passed, Such a notion is merely a myth. Sitting in silence for a while, his mind was assaulted by a dizzying influx of memories. A sharp sting of pain surged through him. Ahhh! His cry reverberated through the bathroom as memories flowed relentlessly through his psyche. At last, they ceased, resulting in an overwhelming exhaustion that washed over him, causing him to faint.

Upon regaining his consciousness on the same bed he had initially awakened from, he met the sight of a woman with cascading black locks and striking purple eyes concealed behind a pair of spectacles. She was humming a tune while dexterously slicing apples. As his vision recovered from a blurriness to clarity, he recognized her from his newfound memories as his mother.

"Good morning, mother," he greeted. His words prompted her to halt her humming and apple slicing, and she turned to face him with a seething anger.

"I'm aware that you're deeply aggrieved over Grandma Istella's demise," she began, her voice reflecting her vexation, "but that doesn't justify you risking your life by jumping off the balcony, Zak. Think of the possible consequences. What if your father and sister arrived home only to be hit with the news of your departure right after hearing about your grandmother's death?"

Her tone escalated, as did her anger, "Never behave this recklessly again or rest assured, I won't hesitate to confine you in a room for a year, feeding you only enough to survive until you comprehend the gravity of your action. Do you understand?"

"I understand," he admitted.

"Good," she responded curtly, "Now stay put. I'll be right back," she instructed, exiting the room thereafter.

James White is my name. I am 20 years of age and was employed as a game developer prior to my death. The role was challenging as we had very limited time to work. Unfortunately, I was the last surviving member of my family. We used to reside in a neighborhood infamous for robberies. However, due to financial constraints, we couldn't afford to move away, hence we had no choice but to stay.

After winning a lottery, I decided that it was time to leave the neighborhood and move somewhere safe. However, before my plan could come to fruition, a tragedy struck. On the day that I was to reunite with them- my two sisters, my brother, and our parents- to take them away, I was devastated to find them all deceased. It was a horrific sight; my family members lay lifeless in a pool of blood. Thus, ended my life as James White.

Fortunately, I was given an opportunity to make a fresh start. I reincarnated into the body of a boy belonging to the Lunite family, one of the richest families on the continent of Halphic. My new name is Zakiel Lunite and my new mother is Alice Lunite the woman who was originally in the room.

My father's name is Jack Lunite and I also have a sister named Zoey Lunite. She is roughly the same age as me, approximately 12 years old. She is presently concluding her final year at Westberg Middle School. I, on the other hand, still have to wait for another year before I can start high school, indicating a significant difference in the school system. Subsequently, there was a knock on the door which was followed by it being swung open.
