20 Ch 20 The Reining houses

Within this very large and spacious room everyone one's eyes were staring in one direction, as an aged voice was heard.

The old man stood in the middle, forward of the classroom, he first spoke of his name and title; "My name is Albert. Ron Virdis, and I am the teacher for this generation's most talented Inheritors" He said with an almost self aggrandizing tilt on the edge of his lips.

"The! Virdis family?" the voice of an adolescent boy, who could not be any older then thirteen sounded out.

The boy sounded amazed as if the family to which he was referring to were some kind of holy entities.

The old man's face was now embellished with a fully prideful smile. "The same" He said, but nothing after.

The man's words though short, served to make waves in the classroom. The once quiet walls vibrated with discussion.

Esika, seeing that the room had turned a frenzy looked towards the ever calm face of Silliya, trying to signal with a raised brow that he was requesting an explanation.

seeing the boy's questioned tensed face, Silliya was not perplexed why, but she still found it a little surprising.

"You don't know who the Virdis family are?" She questioned. The boy quickly shook his head after finding the name unfamiliar.

"How about any of the other High families?" His head shook again. Seeing this, the girl fell silently into contemplation.

Depending on his knowledge it may be a drawn out explanation. Within a moment she began her trying to educate Esika.

"Well to first understand the importance of the five families then you'd have to have knowledge on the kingdom's situation as whole" Saying this, she quickly looked around for a second and listened to the class.

Having heard nothing important she then continued.

"These families are the main political holders of the kingdom. They have the most say on what laws and other important matters get passed. Would you like to guess why?" She looked at the boy expectingly.

Esika paused. His knowledge on political matters where truly limited. Thinking for a while he threw out the most reasonable answer he could think of. "Because they're strong?"

"Precisely" she complimented. "Did you know that at all times there are Roaming bands of deadly beast that terrorize the local villages around them?"

Hearing that, Esika nodded. Who wouldn't know that? It is said that though through the goddesses constant protection, the disastrous and truly terrifying monsters were kept from laying waste to all of the kingdom, there were still a very large contigency of smaller and weaker monsters that pass through the barrier every year.

"Well since you know that then the explanation won't be too complicated to understand... There are dozens of noble families within the kingdom. All of them are expected to by the Saintess and her people to contribute in the fight against these monsters."

As she explained Esika followed along, picturing in his mind the sihoullottes of the heroes she spoke of.

"Of the many families that take part in these battles, few of them have actually managed to set territories within these dangerous areas. For their bravery and sacrifice the heads of these families are gifted with the title of High Nobility."

"There are only five high noble families. Each of them with different ranks corresponding with their families overall strength." She said.

"The first and strongest are the 'Ocera' family. Not only are they the strongest, they are also blessed with having the current Saintess lady Asrioli as a member of their family".

'Ah' the striking image of that women still left a deep imprint within Esika's mind. A family that has such a person as one of their own has to be very powerful.

"The house that takes the second place is the 'Manto' family, to which are teacher here is a part of a branch family of"

"The third place is taken by the Beatle family. they are a fairly newer addition to that list, in fact their noble title isn't even a hundred years old now." The girl seemed to have a far reaching glint in her eye's as she said this, it looked like a mixture of awe and determination.

"Their families head is currently the strongest Inheritor in the kingdom".

"The fourth and fifth position respectfully, are always changing between two families. The 'Dea' family which are known for their defense and the 'Naptera' family who are known for their speed and stealth"

With all of that being said, the girl sighed "Now do you understand why the class reacted like that?" Esika nodded but still found one thing confusing.

"If they're so awesome, then why didn't you react the same way as everyone else?" He'd noticed that upon hearing the teachers introduction, the girl's face did not show the same suprise like everyone else did. Rather, that same inexplicable glint of determination had firstly appeared on her face.

The girl looked at Esika with a slightly raised brow. 'He noticed this?' she questioned in her mind.

"Well, my Bee family isn't too far from becoming a high noble family ourselves" Her mouth was rose upwards into a smile as she said this.

A look of surprise clearly marked Esika's face, the girl found it to be slightly amusing. Her explanation earlier had already fermented the figure of high Nobles as being legendary people in his mind.

The thought that he was well acquainted with a family of potential to be in the same league as these people was really a shock to the boy.

She continued after seeing the boy's expression "With my older brothers strength and public commitment to the Saintess its bound to happen within this generation".

The replaying imagr Silliya's brother played in Esika's head. He remembered clearly the mans relaxed yet overbearing pressure as his aura shook the grounds around him. His cool figure made Esika dream of one day becoming just like him.

...

The explanation from Silliya hadn't lasted long. Within but a moment, the teacher who went by the name, Sir Virdis had settled the class. The room full of teens were now quiet as they looked at the raised palms of the old man.

The wrinkled face of the man was now placid. His longer then average antennas looked matted, as they hid behind his wooly dark hair.

"Im sure all of you are excited" his voice drew all attention solely to him.

"As newly awakened with the highest of talent its easy to become relaxed and arrogant"

"This generation of awakeners are both the luckiest as well as the most unfortunate one in history". he said letting the mood sink in.

"Im sure you all of you already know about the coming expidition in the coming five year's. And im sure most of you are excited for the chance to claim it's ultimate prize, but let me be frank" He eyed the room with a serious expression.

"A lot of you will not survive the journey" Such a cold statement, said in such a matter of fact statement way, left some on edge about their future's.

The room fell into a daunting silence as the elderly man closed his eye's. The man took a deep breath and breathed out a long winded sigh.

"Know this" He said re-opening his eye's "As you're teacher it is my job to guide you into becoming better and stronger Inheritor's, but if you dare ever slouch or come in to class late, i will not hesitate to expel you from this class". He gave a warning glance at Esika.

"Now let us begin".

....

Time passed, Esika recapped on the things he had learned within these few hours and felt it to be eye opening. The teacher had given the class knowledge about their current predicament.

He first spoke about the power arrangement in each stage of what he called, 'Attainment'.

The first stage of Attainment is the awakening phase. This stage was the most important stage, as the quality of one's foundation within this stage dictates how much stronger an awakener will become. This stage is often referred to as the Establishment phase.

The second stage is called the 'Endo' phase. It is the phase where awakeners will be able to fully control the energy inside of them.

It is also the most dangerous stage as, if an awakener wishes to attain this stage they must first pass the hurdle preceding it; the 'Binging state'.

Esika didn't quite understand the necessary measures and resources one needed to pass this state, but he could tell by the teachers seriousness and his use of phrasing that it wasn't an easy hurdle to get over.

After this brief explanation, the teacher didn't delve any further on the power system as he deemed it unnecessary.

Instead he started going into detail about another matter; Training.
