13 Ch 13 Awakening

"I have Chosen" The goddess trees voice echoed through all ears. The world entered a still state. The voices of all halted and a blank silence took over.

In all of the years that the tree had existed, nobody but the Saintess had heard it's voice. A jolt of fear entered the minds of Nobles as they realized that they were just voicing their displeasure of the goddesses choice while the goddess was listening.

"A king will be soon decided... Every awakened within this generation chosen today! Noble or not.. Will have their chance.. To reign supreme" The goddesses presence dissapeareared as her voice stopped, but to everyone her words still echoed in their minds.

Parents looked at their sons and daughters and thought Upon the Goddesses last words.. 'Everyone' they thought.

All around, muffled voices of Nobles and commoners were heard. Everone prayed upon the goddess, all of them wishing. Some, only wanting their children to awaken and live a good life. And others having fanciful thoughts of their child being king.

The only place that was practically silent was where the slaves were. They did not have any such thoughts. These reckless ideas would only lead to depression, afterall the only Bugs that ever have the chance to awaken are the strongest, both mentally and physically. With their diet consisting of air, on bad days, and slop on good days, they were definitely not what others would call strong.

"With all of the resources we've dug up for you boy, you had best awakened." The voice of the head of the Wasp family, William T Wasp spoke to his nervous son. The words of all of the other heads of Noble household's were currently very similar to his.

"I..I..I will father.. i Promise" Came back the boy, Lesym, stuttered response.

The Saintess once again stood up from her kneeling position. Her eyes were closed and her beautiful face appeared stiff as a tree. For a moment everyone was waiting for her to say something.

Suddenly her eyes flew open. Instead of the usual blue her eyes were now golden.

"Everyone under the age of three and above the age of twenty Disperse!" Difference from her usual tone her voice trembled the atmosphere.

Bugmen, that were under or over the required age quickly left the awakening grounds, leaving the younglings inside.

After the speedy transition, the Saintess's Inheritors gathered up all the children into one large spread out group.

Ranging from nearly adults to fresh out of diaper kids, Esika could see thousands around him. With him being thirteen years old he was in the middle age range here.

Esika focused in front of him. The Saintess that was on the podium looked even more beautiful and wonderous up close. With the natural beauty that all Butterfly family descendants had added with the aura around her, her pure beauty was one that made all men insecure.

Her golden eyes stared across the field of Bugmen, making all of the people that briefly made eye contact with her, scared.

"The responsibilities of an Inheritor is a great one" she spoke with a low voice, but everyone could hear her.

"The goddess tree protects us, but she is not your servant.. She will not provide us food or water.. the clothes you wear is provided by you, the house you live in was built by you.. Only when you accept the responsibilities of your actions will the world accept your identity as Inheritors The gods chosen are pre ordained."

Esika, like the other children had come in feeling incredibly nervous and excited. But, upon hearing her last words he stopped himself. What hope was there for a born slave? What dreams of kingship and happiness, the gods chosen were pre ordained. And it was obvious which people they've chosen.

As he succumbed to his depression he didn't hear the rest of the Saintess's words. Suddenly from the corner of his eye's he noticed the person he was standing by Suddenly collapse.

Looking to his left and right he came to find, to his surprise, that not only had the person standing next to him collapse, but hundreds of others too were on the floor.

He was baffled, why were they falling. A figure of a standing bug that looked about the age of eighteen or nineteen, caught his attention.

The standing bug was standing with every fiber of his being. Foam was to the side of his mouth, and his tensed up veins looked like pulsating worms.

Finally the bug could take no more, as his eye turned white and he fell face first into the ground.

Esika, looking at everything around him that could give him a clue of what was going on accidently made eye contact with the golden eyed Saintess. As if he was possessed he could now no longer move his eyes away.

his mind fell deeper and deeper into her eye's. Suddenly a vision entered his sights. The Saintess had dissapeareared, what replaced it was a giant.

The giant carried a huge globular rock the size of a mountain on his shoulders. He walked and walked and continued. The sounds that emitted when the giant took a step vibrated the blood inside of Esika.

The vision skipped forward. The giant with long hair that covered his eyes was standing in a valley in an odd stance. His mouth was open and he was speaking in an indecipherable language. His voice sounded ancient, and his tone was long.

Suddenly, the giant moved. Extending it's arms and widening his waist. The words he spoke followed along, sounding harsher and more violent. He began to practice several hundred different powerful movements, each time a new sounding word echoing from his mouth. Esika, at the time shown, couldn't see the exact way the giant moved, but when he closed his eye's he could remember every movement step by step.

Finally the vision turned into smoke, and Esika again found himself on the Awakening grounds.

Having returned from the vision, Esika once again looked around him and came to notice other's amongst the thousands of unconscious who were standing with baffled faces.

"The god's chosen Inheritors, are destined from birth.... To lead his people to prosperity".

He heard the voice of the Saintess once again, but much differently from last time he could tell that what she was saying had exclusively implied him and the others who were still standing.

Her eyes turned back to blue as she smiled a dazzling smile. "All those who have managed to stay awake are the gods and the goddess tree Aranyani's , Chosen people."

....

A few minutes in the past.....

Adam looked in displeasure at the lazy tree. He had told her to really phone in her performance, but she didn't even try to explain to the Bugmen what he wanted them to do.

Her words were spoken sloppily and with many pauses added in.

He could only sigh as she finished. 'Ah.. well at least they all caught the gist of it' he thought.

He didn't harp on to his displeasure, as he continued watching the view in front of him.

The next scene that transpired was the scene of the vast majority of Bugmen exiting the Awakening grounds, leaving only the talked about group in.

Adam, noticed to his delight that the population of the kids compared to the last Awakening that he'd done, was over thirty percent more.

As the Saintess's gaurds grouped up the kids, Adam reached out into the golden sphere and drew out a small microscopic smidgen of Soul essence. He threw the Essence towards the Saintess and watched as her power grew exponentially because of it.

After but a second, the first wave of unsuitable kids began to collapse. Adam's plan was coming along, when he noticed a small Ant bug kid, that wasn't paying attention.

'Ah' he was rather surprised. Usually when these ceremonies take place, everbody involved would give their utmost attention, afraid of losing out on even a second of the Saintess's words. This was the first time that he'd seen someone so uninterested.

Out of curiosity, Adam stealthily looked into the mind of the Ant kid, and read all of his secrets. ( A/N Isn't creepy at all)

He soon came to understand why the boy appeared so detached to the matter. It wasn't because the kid was uninterested, it was more because he had zero hope in himself to pass the test.

Using color vision, Adam checked the boys biology and could not help but frown. It was indeed so that the boys body was in terrible shape. with the lack of nutrients and sleep it was easy to understand why the boy looked much younger then the other kids near his age group.

If left to his own body, the boy would've also collapsed in about a minutes time. Adam decided to intervene however.

Why? because the kids story, illustrated a perfect underdogs tale. If the boy could somehow get the prize he had hidden in the Backbone mountains, then his tale would really be epic.

Freezing time on the blue star Adam conjured up a chair and thought about his next action.

after a few minutes of thinking, he had decided to gift the boy a life altering vision.

once again reaching out into the golden sphere, Adam whipped out an even smaller smidgen of soul essence. He invisioned scenes that he considered epic and began to mix in a powerful Technique that he had programmed into the golden sphere.

This Technique was named (The spatial body technique).

It was names so, because it had the property of shifting gravity.

Adam, thought about it and realized that this technique was soon to be the only Really functional Technique on the blue star. Reason's being, because of the Awakening ceremony only imparting Mana attunments, no bug has really managed to glean any real form of martial arts.

Most just used their powerful bodies in reckless abadon to fight.

Adam had been waiting for a Bugman that would accidently gain insight on a technique, but none such bug ever came. He was about tired of waiting.

'Well better late then never' Adam thought as he sent the whiff of Spirit essence into the boy.
