Goblins

'So bright...' As I opened my eyes, I noticed the light of one of the two suns piecing through the opening of the cave...

Wait, two suns? And a cave? Why am I in a cave?

I immediately stood up and looked around with a panicked expression. I instantly noticed my unusual perspective.

I felt like I was a kid again, or rather, I felt very short. When I looked around, I noticed that there were strange green creatures that looked like kids as well.

'Are those goblins?' I touched myself all over, hoping that I wasn't one of them. When I looked at myself, I realized that my skin color was a dark green.

And all I had on was some brown loincloth that covered my privates and chest.

'Where even am I? I'm surrounded by goblins and I think I'm one as well...'

It took me a while to process that I wasn't in my world.

My world didn't have goblins in it, much less any other humanoid or intelligent creatures besides humans.

'It feels like I'm in a fantasy world...Two suns, and goblins.' As I was thinking to myself, the memories of my previous life suddenly surfaced in my mind. It was a memory of me coughing up blood and looking at a whole in my stomach.

'So I died in the end huh? Seems like the ambulance didn't make it to the scene on time.' I finally accepted my new reality and sighed. I didn't know how to feel after seeing that memory but I had more important matters to handle.

One in specific is where exactly I am.

'If this is the fantasy world I'm thinking of, then there's a status panel right?' As I was thinking of a status screen, it appeared not a second later.

It looked just like I expected.

'Just as I remember it...But I already have a skill?' I tapped on the screen where the skill was and another screen appeared, containing information on the skill.

[Devour: Take the power of those you eat.]

'Take the power of those you eat? That sounds overpowered, and definitely in a world like this!' As I read the information about the skill, I had the sudden urge to go find a monster to kill. After all, this is definitely a fantasy world and there are an abundance of monsters.

Without hesitation, I rushed through the crowd of other goblins who were talking to each other or sleeping on the walls of the cave. I left the cave and was greeted with the sight of dense trees that I couldn't see earlier because of the sunlight.

I also wasn't paying attention to it at that time.

'My first prey, where are you!' Since before I could remember, I always wanted to be in a world like this. To me, this is where I belonged, not in some dull world like Earth where everyday is boring.

All people do is stay on their phones or posts stupid pictures on the internet and get scared if a small animal attacks them. On Earth, the weak stay weak and the strong stay strong, but in here its both survival of the fittest and the weak can get strong.

The strong can fall in just a moment as well.

When I entered the forest, I didn't see any monsters at first, but my eyes caught the silhouette of what seemed to resemble a lizard. The only thing different about it was that its scales were a fiery red and it looked to be about 2 feet tall.

Not only that, at the end of its tail and on the top of its head were small balls of fire. The little lizard looked cute at first, but when it looked at me it opened its mouth and let out a breath of fire.

"Woah!" I said as I ran away from the lizard. The lizard wasn't fast at all, actually it was pretty slow which I'm guessing is its weakness.

'If you're this slow then I can surely kill you! I've killed a few rabbits and other small animals back in my day!' Even though it was with a rifle, I still killed a few animals in my previous life.

I checked my surroundings, looking for a sharp object. I doubt I could break through the defenses of that lizard's scales easily so I wanted to hack at it with something sharp.

I quickly noticed a small rock that had a super sharp edge that could definitely injure me. I ran to it and picked it up then attacked the lizard.

It noticed that I was going to attack this time so it released its fire breath again but I already expected this. It was just entirely too slow to execute any other attacks when I'm already so close to it.

With just a slight bit of hesitation, I pounced on top of the lizard and began stabbing the rock into its back. While stabbing the lizard, I tried to peel off its scales.

The rock made a sizzling sound every time it came in contact with the lizard's scales.

'Damn! These scales are no joke! I can feel my left arm on fire right now!' Since I punched on the lizard, both my arms were on it and I could feel the burn.

Luckily, my goblin body wasn't being damaged as much as I thought. It just felt like burning myself by touching a hot stove, just barely bearable.

'Come on, get this thing off already!' With one more stab and peel to the back of the lizard, 3 of its fiery scales came off simultaneously.

I took this chance to stab its meaty insides. Since it had hard scales, its bones were unusually fragile and broke after I hit them two times. Blood leaked from the lizard's back profusely as I continued to stab at it.

GRRR

As I was stabbing it, the lizard let out a loud growl and I felt the heat of the scales suddenly spike. It went from touching a hot stove to having my entire body inside an oven while it was on!

'Ugh, damn! What the hell did that thing do?'
