Getting It Together

Victor was sitting up in his bed trying to organize everything he knows. "Firstly, I know that this is obviously not my original world because I've never heard of an Embrien Kingdom before. I am the 2nd prince of the empire, and my family consists of me, my father Vance, my mother Isabel, my younger sister Veronica, my younger brother Kyle, and my deceased older brother Lawrence", Victor thought.

"Hmm it seems like my brother died while serving in a war between the Embrien Empire and the neighboring Trevalin Empire", Victor continued, "If I was to gauge the era of this world compared to my old one based on Victor's memories, I'd say it is Europe during the Medieval ages."

"Well this much doesn't matter too much anyways. My top priorities are recovering and understanding the 'Status Screen'", Victor mumbled as he tried to get up. "Wow! It really hurts. I guess I should call for some servants to bring me food, because I'm clearly unable to do it myself."

Suddenly a light rapping on the door could be heard. "Your Highness, do you need anything from me?", a shy voice said. "Speak of the devil", Victor muttered and then said, "Bring me some food. I am famished". "Yes, Your Highness", he heard from the voice across the door.

Victor sighed, "Of course I'm injured, I can't even go to the library to get a better understanding of this world." "Well anyways, I might as well try to understand my status thing better while that person gets me some food".

"AI Chip, system" Victor called in his mind again. "Nothing, I guess I really wasn't blessed with a god-like cheat like that. This isn't a novel so how can anyone be so lucky", he sighed. "Well lets try 'Status'."

'Boop' 'Status Window Open'

"At least I can enable and disable it", Victor beamed. "Now, how do my stats compare to everyone else's?". "'Status', please show the average person's status in this world."

'Puaah' Victor almost fainted that moment, "What the hell. How am I so strong?" Victor said before a memory came rushing into his brain. "It seems like there is an existence above regular people: 'Knights'. I guess this world is not as simple as it seems", Victor wondered.

"If I am this strong, then do I qualify as a knight?", he questioned before he heard another light rapping at his door. "Come in", Victor said. The door slowly opened as a young lady wearing a maid's outfit sneaked through. She seemed to be 16 years old and looked relatively mature for her age.

"Here is your food Your Highness." the maid bowed and said. "Hmm, what's your name?", Victor asked. "Oh, Your Highness's maid's name is Jessica", the maid replied. "Okay then Jessica, go get me some books from the library because I have nothing better to do in this state." Victor commanded.

"Yes, Your Highness I will get them", Jessica said as she hurried out. Suddenly, she stopped and asked, "What type of books do you want Your Highness?" "Get me books on history and Knights" Victor said as his eyes followed her out of the room.

"Wow this really is Medieval times, who would have though I have my own personal maid" Victor thought with a deep smile on his face. Victor sighed, "Well I guess I can't do much in the Knight aspect of a while because Victor's memories of training consist of absolutely crazy amounts of physical labor.

Victor looked down at his plate of food. The aroma entered his nose and he was overwhelmed with hunger. "Wow, either I'm really hungry or the food here must be great" Victor muttered as he took a giant bite of the eggs and bread. "Hopefully it's the latter".

"Here's what I know about knights, there are several ranks to the system. The stage before becoming one is Pre-Knight, the first Knight stage is Low-Knight, the next Mid-Knight, and after that High-Knight", Victor thought as he devoured the remaining food. "If this is the case then the path to power is Knighthood. It seems like my goal should be to become a High-Knight then".
