14 Chapter 14 First time studying magic

Date: 7/26/2001 5:00 AM

My Gamer's body has several useful secondary effects, such as waking me up always at the same time, thus removing the need of checking the time, sleeping always puts me in top shape, and last but not least it removes the grogginess that usually comes after waking up, so this being the first I will officially start practising magic, I decided to be on my top shape to actually study it.

I got out of bed, washed my face and brushed my teeth, changed into some random clothes and headed to the kitchen.

Not seeing nor hearing Nat being around the house, I headed towards the mountain of books that had been positioned in front of the library that was in the living room.

After the incident with Malfoy I had specifically asked Hagrid to bring it to the library, where after buying the book for the whole seven years at Hogwarts, I also bought some other interesting books, the one that glowed, and books about Occlumency and Legilimency, the first being the protection for the second, and the second being the way to destroy the first.

So of course I first decide to study Occlumency, if Gamer's Mind is true, then only my Gamer's shenanigans are protected by it, and all my other memories are free to be watched, well not for long.

I grabbed the book and a notification appeared.

---------------------

You have come in contact with the book: Occlumency for Beginners

Do you wish to absorb the knowledge in the book?

YES/NO

Requirements: 20 Int, 15 Wis

YES

You have gained the skill: Occlumency Lv.1

Occlumency Lv.1

You can't get mind-raped, yay, by using your imagination you can create defences that have the job of protecting your mind and memories, grant a boost in the durability of the defences you create and boost mental clearness by (Skill level)%

---------------------

My eyes sparkled at the word *imagination*.

' It makes sense, inside our minds, we are Gods with all the O's, we can be wherever we want, know everything, and do whatever we want, this means that I can...'

I closed my eyes and using the knowledge I had absorbed from the book I started creating something that for me represented safety, a castle seemed pretty secure as a basic start, with soldiers guarding the walls, and dragons flying above it.

---------------------

You have created your first Mental defence

Harry's Castle

Quality: Mediocre

Complexity: Low

Defences: Normal

---------------------

'... Ok, I need to study this more.'

This time I grabbed the book and actually started reading it, moving through the pages quite fast thanks to my reading skill.

And in just 30 minutes I had finished the whole book, and something I had understood about the mental defences I had built, was that apart from being flashy, it had no actual defences against someone that was stealthy, or strong enough to simply destroy everything.

' Ok think, what's something that no wizard would think of seeing inside a Wizard's head?... GUNS.'

I went back inside my mind and changed the bows I had given to the guards to rifles, the horses I had granted to the ground soldiers became motorcycles, the Dragons instead became aeroplanes with turrets incorporated into them, and everything had a WWII since they were the only weapons and aeroplanes I had ever seen in my life thanks to museum visits, but they were still better than bows and horses.

'Now, for the main defence.'

If my guess is right, then I might have just created the perfect defence against the wizards.

In the book a way to keep your memories and mind organized was to organize all of your knowledge as a library, this way no one apart from you will be able to easily look at your memories, well I will do something better.

Based on the knowledge I had gained through my school experience, and the days I had spent with Natasha, seeing her working from home, I created my main defence.

A computer.

Each folder corresponds to a specific set of memories, based on events or people I have met, a password wasn't even needed since most wizards don't know what even is a computer.

---------------------

Harry's Castle

Quality: Normal

Complexity: Good

Defences: Good

Effect: 20%boost in thought speed, and memories recall

---------------------

'Much better, but to actually perfect it I will need to study computers and weapons.'

---------------------

+1 Occlumency

---------------------

'In just half an hour.' I thought with a smile.

I also discovered that by constantly keeping my defences on, I was constantly farming the skill, so while I continued doing some definitions of how it looked, I gained another level.

With a smile, I stretched my hand to grab another book from the pile only to get stopped by a voice.

" What are you doing?" Nat asked from behind me, something I had discovered about her, she is very sneaky.

Gamer's Mind though prevented me from showing fright and I was able to act normally.

" Studying Occlumency."

" The thing that is supposed to protect you from the thing that guy did?"

" Yeah, it annoys me a random guy can easily enter my mind and do whatever he wants."

"Understandable, how is it going?"

Looking up I just had a great idea.

" Teach me about guns."

"... What?" She said with a confused face.

And so I explained to her how Occulumency worked and what I had done to upgrade my defences.

" Hmmm if it works with imagination then instead of reality, you need to watch movies to train it."

" Why should I watch movies? All movies I have watched are WWII documentaries."

A smile formed on Nat's face and soon she grabbed me like a cat, she liked to do that, and brought me onto the couch, turning on the tv and getting 5 CDs.

" What are you doing?"

" We are watching Star Wars."
