3 The Plan

Oz woke up slowly on a bed in a small room. He pulled himself up onto his feet and walked over to the window. Looking out the window he could see it was the middle of the night, the waves crashing on the shore nearby.

'This is definitely Cornwall, maybe more towards the Newquay area due to the fact I can see the ocean'

As Oz thought of his location his heart dropped.

'Fuck, I'm so far out from London I can't even get to diagon alley or something to start learning early. Seems as though I'll need to either self train myself in wandless magic or hope I magically come across a tome of magic... yeah ill try and self train for a while.'

Even though it was the dead of the night, Oz sat down on his bed in the orphanage and started by closing his eyes.

'I've always thought magic was an interesting concept especially in the terms of harry potter, Its never really fully explained how it works though whether its just there or not... Most people surmise that there must be a core or something within a wizard that allows them to contain and use magic. If there's a core then that maybe that means it works just like an eastern cultivation technique? If its like that, then is it as simple as using magic to train the core like a muscle allowing the core to grow and then mature into the next stage?'

Oz pondered these thoughts as he was meditating on his bed, searching within himself to see if he could sense his own core. He was going in blind to begin with and was just hoping it would all work out.

Many hours passed and Oz finally found a small core within himself the size of a marble.

'I guess I am only five years old. Seems I have a long path ahead of me.'

Oz sat silently looking at his magical core for a while trying to figure out how it worked, it seemed to be growing very slowly from the ambient magic.

'I guess when magical children hit the age of 11 their core must reach the breakthrough point of the first stage, allowing them to start learning true magic as their core will experience a qualitive leap up in regards to both magical quality and quantity. If I constantly use wandless magic maybe I can mature my core at an even earlier stage and start learning the simplest spells I can think of ready for Hogwarts'

Oz finally opened his eyes and readied himself, willing hard he made his magic travel from his core towards his hand where he planned on making a spark on the top of his finger. This took a huge amount of effort to do but eventually after several minutes a spark formed.

Looking at the spark Oz's eyes opened wide 'I really am in the Wizarding World' he thought, looking at the small spark on the top of his finger. Suddenly he felt a wave of severe exhaustion and the spark stopped.

'No wonder kids under 11 aren't tracked or practice magic, its insanely hard to do and incredibly weak when produced. I only created a spark for a few seconds and I feel like I've ran a marathon'

As Oz lied on his bed looking at the ceiling he looked within himself at his magical core, seeing that the previous marble core that was blue was now grey with tints of blue. After 10 minutes of rest, he saw the small core fill up again becoming completely blue, however this time the core was also a slight bit bigger.

'Seems like my theory was correct, the core is a muscle in a sense, I just need to constantly produce magic like the spark and exhaust my magic supply'

Oz then proceeded to spend the rest of the night constantly making a spark on his finger, getting exhausted, watching his core then repeating the process when the core filled back up. The core grew at a visible speed and Oz only stopped the process when sunlight shone through his window.

'Morning huh, I've just been plopped into this orphanage and have no idea of who, what, when, where and why. Hopefully nobody asks too many questions.'

The door to Oz's room then opened with a women coming in.

"Ah so you're awake Oz, good I have your breakfast here and learning material for the day"

The women then proceeded to place a bowl of soup on Oz's desk in his room as well as some bread, next to the breakfast a few books were placed.

"Make sure to read the learning material and fill in the sheets needed Oz"

"Ok Ma'am"

The woman then left Oz's room.

'I still have no clue on my position here in this orphanage but oh well, if its just self learn in my room that makes it a lot easier for me to practice magic, with my 'Perfect Memory' I should be able to read these books quick and get the work done fast, then I can practice magic.'

Oz sat down at his desk and ate the food provided to him, then after eating he started reading the books he had been given.

'This 'Perfect Memory' is incredible, I can remember all the contents at a glance, this should make learning magic much easier when I'm at Hogwarts... I need to plan out the next few years properly though and also find out what the date is today to understand where I am in the timeline of Harry Potter'

As Oz finished that thought he looked at the answer sheet he needed to fill in noticing the date in the left top corner.

[𝘍𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘺 8𝘵𝘩 1984]

'Interesting, I'll be joining Hogwarts one year above the trio of Harry, Hermione and Ron. That gives me one year to prepare in Hogwarts properly for the events of the first film and the rest'.

1990 was the year Oz would be joining Hogwarts so he needed to be as ready as possible for that date.

'I need to write a to-do list for the next 6 years until my time at Hogwarts lets write that on a spare sheet of answer paper'

Oz speeded through the work he was given with the help of his 'Perfect Memory' and began writing his to do list.

'I think I've got this properly organised now' Oz thought looking at the list he had written up.

- 1. Reach an early Magical Maturity by exhausting magic constantly with the wandless spark magic.

'This will give me a good boost when I start Hogwarts, maybe I could even reach a near second level of maturity meaning I can learn higher level spells in my first year only'

- 2. Exercise the body, improve reflexes.

'A simple yet important thing to do, magic is not the be all end all, its only an extra limb which I can train. My body is still one of the most important things to keep healthy and strong. Maybe even the stronger the body the more magic it can house? ill have to look into that.... but still a very important step along with honing reflexes'

- 3. Occlumency/Legilimency

'A staple thing to learn when referring to all the fan fictions I've read. Apparently some teachers in Hogwarts like snooping in the students thoughts and I'd rather not have them see my past especially if they find I'm from another world/universe. They might even consider me worse than Voldemort at that point. Legilimency seems to go hand in hand with Occlumency so hopefully I can also learn that as a by-product'

- 4. Money

'Still this plagues me even in this life but I need money to make a foothold in this world, especially since I'm not from a magical family or anything. The school will pay for my materials since I'm an orphan however they wont pay out for my own personal things. No job will accept a 5 year old so I guess I'll have to learn to pickpocket in the coming months...'

Magical Maturity, Exercise, Occlumency/Legilimency and Money. With the next 6 years planned out Oz sits back on his bed and starts growing his core again.
