Ambrosius Bloodline

Oz's first year at Hogwarts was finally coming to a close and with that the dilemma of where he'd be going over summer was arising. Oz only had one thing on his mind though, to go and do his inheritance test. If Merlin did indeed leave anything for his descendants then maybe there's answer there about how Oz should progress with his magic and life from this time onwards.

'I probably should have put more thought into where I'd go after this year... but it hasn't exactly been a calm year of school now has it?'

Oz reminisced at the year that had passed, so many things went awry and while all his main plans he had for his first year were completed besides procuring the marauders map, It was one hell of a journey to get here.

'My placement in Slytherin, learning my connection to Merlin, Learning under Salazar... Everything came out of left field. I thought when you reincarnate everything's supposed to go your way...'

As Oz was walking down the halls of Hogwarts brooding over the past year, Craig spotted him from afar.

"Yo Ozzy! what's your plans for the summer man? Think me and my family are going on holiday to Spain!"

Oz looked at the boy who had come bounding over. Craig a lad he had only met briefly at the beginning of the year was now a good friend of his, someone he could talk to besides Cho and his owl.

"I think I'll be trying to get a summer job somewhere... or something...".

"A summer job huh? thats so like you to be working even in the summer...".

Whenever Craig talked to Oz, Oz still felt a slight stifling atmosphere for some reason. Maybe it was because of how much of a social butterfly he was? or maybe it was Oz still feeling the age gap between them as a barrier of some sort.

Craig looked at Oz deep in thought and continued.

"You always do that you know Ozzy, falling deep into thought like that. its like you know the worlds going to come to an end eventually or something".

Oz picked his head up to look at Craig.

'Why is this guy so randomly sharp on things like this?'.

"Its because unlike you I have a brain that thinks"

Craig gave Oz a jab in the gut for that comment, both laughing it off afterwards.

"Well Ozzy I'll see you around next year! hopefully we can stick together all of next year unlike this one where it was only the last few months!".

After Craig left, Oz continued back to his room in the dungeons. After packing up everything he needed to take with him he headed for the train that would take him back to London.

'All things considered this year went smoothly in some ways... I'm surprised the teachers didn't interfere with me at all. Surely they must have noticed something strange about my origin...'

Oz pushed all his stray thoughts to the side as he stepped onto the train back to London. His first year at Hogwarts had come to an end.

His first stop now was Diagon alley.

'Let's see if that old snakes actually telling the truth...'

Oz walked through the busy streets of Diagon Alley, after wading through the sea of witches and wizards Oz eventually came up upon Gringotts.

'Expect the unexpected Oz, a number of things could happen here now...'.

After collecting himself, Oz walked into the bank.

The bank itself looked exactly the same as it did at the beginning of the year, before he went on his journey to Hogwarts. As he was walking towards the head desk he spotted the investments desk off to the side.

'I would go check those investments but they wont come into fruition until the firebolt is properly released and thats not until 1993...'

Oz eventually reached the head desk, a stern goblin sorting papers was sat behind it.

"Uh.. excuse me? im here for an inheritance test".

The goblin stopped what he was doing and pulled himself a little over the desk to get a better look at Oz.

"An inheritance test you say? What bloodline are you testing for..."

'I guess I'd be testing under Merlin's second name.... that'd be....'

"The Ambrosius bloodline"

The goblin behind the counters jaw dropped at Oz's comment, the surrounding goblins who overheard Oz's comment all dropped their papers as well in shock.

The goblin behind the desk then smacked his hands down firmly creating a loud bang that reverberated through Gringotts.

"Ambrosius?! you want to test for Merlin's bloodline?! are you playing with me boy! such a bloodline hasn't been discovered for centuries! If we wanted to test you for it we'd need to get one of the heads of Gringotts to come and do the test personally! Taking up their time is something we can't afford to do if your test comes up false... Are you sure you want to test for his bloodline boy?".

Oz looked around at all the shocked goblins before turning to the goblin at the desk again.

"I'm sure, some... old snake informed me of my connection to him and I feel I need to confirm it for sure".

Seeing Oz's conviction, the goblin behind the desk sent a message to the top brass. After a while of waiting, the goblin received a reply and started ushering Oz upstairs into the top floors of Gringotts.

As Oz entered a top floor office he noticed a familiar goblin in front of him.

'Its the head goblin from the first film, the one who harry meets'.

The head goblin walked up to Oz looking him up and down before talking.

"So you're the boy who wants to test for Merlin's bloodline ey? A bold claim to make... If you truly are a descendant of the legendary Merlin then we will do all we can to assist you in the future. However..."

The rooms atmosphere took on a slight chill as the head goblin stopped talking. Oz stood firm and straight, looking the goblin dead in the eyes.

"If you are playing me for a fool then the consequences will be severe...".

Oz looked deeply and coldly at the head goblin in front of him, he didn't take kindly to such obvious threats.

"I'd like to see you even try to lay a hand on me Goblin".

The head goblin looked at Oz in surprise at his comment.

"Such a strong conviction for a boy your age... lets hope you can back up the conviction with actual results".

With that the head goblin signalled for the goblin that brought Oz up into the room to go get the inheritance testing kit.

"The Ambrosius bloodline... such a bloodline is so old that only our most advanced kit can detect it. Do be patient while we fetch the best testing kit we have".

After several minutes of waiting the stern goblin returned with the inheritance kit.

"Now boy, im going to draw some blood from you".

A slight prick was administered to Oz's arm with that, and a decent amount of blood extracted.

"I do apologise for the amount of blood we need but as you should know such an old and legendary bloodline is something we need to diagnose carefully..."

The blood was then placed in a kind of bowl that came with the kit, after some time sitting in that bowl the results became clear to the goblins. The head goblins countenance changed from calmness to pure shock. Looking at the results of the test he muttered.

"The boy is actually telling the truth! A connection to the legendary Merlin has finally been found!"

Oz looked at the two goblins who seemed to be in awe of the result, at least this told him now for sure he was Merlin's descendant.

'So I really am a descendant of Merlin... Why though? why did the void being do this? he said my special ability was 'Perfect Memory' and thats all I get... did he just do this for fun or is there something more here to unravel?'

After a few minutes in awe the goblins turned to Oz, their eyes still reeling in shock from the test. The head goblin took the first step forward.

"It seems you are truly a descendant of Merlin child, such a noble bloodline indeed. Please forgive me for my roughness earlier, Could I ask you for your name?"

Oz took a moment before answering, he smiled as he thought of the answer.

"It's Oz... Oz Ambrosius".
