She did not even dare to take a breath as she continued the long chant at a speed as fast as she could. This speed may even rival the speed of light which is said to be the fastest.

This is a practise that led to the deaths of many Witches. But it was also the most powerful way to make a rune circle's magic to work at its highest ability.

Her entire skin glowed and a blue halo surrounded her before everything turned black in an instant, accompanied with a sound of bang.

By the time the light returned to the place, Tanzi laid down on the ground like a wilted flower.

She slowly opened her eyes, sat on the ground and looked around.

Before she could think of what exactly had happened, she started coughing and a pool of blood spilled out of her mouth.

Tanzi raised her hand which used to be fair but now covered with bright red, to take a look at it in shock.

Just what was happening?

This is the first time in her life that one of her runic magic had any side effects on her.

This is also the first time she was surprised by the outcome of her own magic.

She looked at the blood on her hand and went into a daze. What exactly happened?

She looked at the ground at the rune that she drew earlier. Of course there are no longer any runes present at the place. As soon as runic magic is completed, the runes would automatically disappear as if they were never there in the first place.

But she tried recalling the runic circle that she drew to know if she had made any mistakes.

It has been so many decades since she drew this specific runic circle after all. Hence even if there is a mistake she wouldn't be shocked.

But that doesn't give any reason for her to have any side effects that she just experienced.

She raised her slender hand to gently touch her temples using her thin and long fingers.

The dizziness that she experienced earlier was gone. She was feeling better about it. Yet she now had a slight headache and her throat felt dry.

She stood from her place and took a few steps to approach the small pond that was present there. She rinsed her mouth with clean water from the pond after cleaning her hands. She finally got rid of all the blood and then proceeded to drink some water.

She found a rock and sat on it to relax herself.

If she thinks too much at once, she was not sure about how this poor and weak body could take.

She closed her eyes and took a nap to replenish her energy.

Once her mind was wide awake, she recalled how she had lost her 'Wits' earlier.

'Wits', the magical energy that only the clan of Witches possess within them. It is similar to the 'mana' that others have.

The more a Witch performs witchcraft, the more 'wits' they have. The witches with poor magic sense could not accumulate much wits in their body and they would feel weak.

Once a witch is out of wits, not only would she be weak but she would have many other symptoms like dizziness, headache, etc.

Once it went beyond these small symptoms, a Witch would face death.

The more wits a Witch has, the greater the witch would be. She could perform higher level magic with ease, she would live longer, she would be more intelligent - or crafty - and she would be stronger than the ones compared to the ones with low wits.

When a Witch was low on wits, she would have a few options to gain a few wits back so that she could stay alive. One of those options is drinking a specific potion. Another way of regaining the wits is by using runic magic.

Of course she couldn't drink a potion earlier because she had none with her since the time she transferred bodies. Hence the other option is more suitable in her present situation.

But to complete a runic circle magic successfully, one should have enough wits too. In the end, they were again interconnected with each other like a loop.

The higher the magic to be done, the higher the wits needed. The higher the magic is done, the higher the wits obtained.

The more wits a Witch had, the lesser the chances to have any weakness.

This showed that Tanzi had lost all her wits earlier. That is the reason for her dizziness.

But what surprised her was that she was now in the body of an Elf. How could an Elf have any Wits?

Wits is something that only Witches possess and no one other than the Witches know about them.

The truth about Wits had always been kept a secret from the other clans in order to assure the safety of the entire Witch clan.

If others know about the wits, and someone wanted to harm a Witch, it would be very easier to do so if they were knowledgeable about this.

But the question is still the same.
