15 Death? 3

Tanzi was confused at his sudden yet weird question which was out of context but nevertheless answered him sincerely.

She shook her head, "This is the first time I am seeing you."

If it was someone else that asked her such a weird question, she would have definitely ignored him.

But since it was her savior, she decided to be sincere and decided to answer all his questions truthfully.

The man's frown deepened at her answer. He then questioned again, "Do you not know this place either?"

Tanzi's mind was filled with various questions and doubts at his questionnaire but still continued shaking her head.

She then looked around and again asked him, "umm, do you know where my wand is? Did you see it when you saved me?"

"Wand?" He asked her while raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah. I am a Witch. Of course I need my wand, right?" She asked back. For a witch, her wand would be equal to her arm.

If there is no wand, they couldn't do most of their magic.

The majority of a witch's magic comes from their spells along with their wands and their potions.

Hence a missing wand is similar to cutting off one of their limbs to them.

The man was frozen at his place when he heard her words. He then coughed a couple of times and maintained his composure.

Then he looked back at her to speak, "you are an Elf. Not a witch."

Tanzi frowned at his statement.

She had heard that a Merman is an intelligent creature unlike the other fishes. Why is this man so dumb?

Wouldn't she know if she was an Elf or a Witch?

And most importantly, to a Witch, the most humiliating curse would be being called as an Elf.

Being the rival clans for years, for a witch, if one were to call them an elf, it is not just an insult but it was the deepest curse one could give them.

But this man was directly calling her an Elf on her face?

She glared at him while gritting her teeth. She wanted to kill him off in the next second and a deep cold air emanated from her.

This aura had successfully frightened the Merman as he was visibly scared of her.

Most importantly he was more shocked than he was scared and Tanzi doesn't know the reason for his shock.

In her anger, she didn't even care if he was scared or if he was shocked at her reaction.

She was already overwhelmed by her own feelings of anger.

Yet she tried her best to compose herself as she doesn't want to sin by harming the person that just saved her life.

Once she calmed down, she looked at his face again. That is when she had noticed the mixture of emotions in his eyes.

In a way, he too understood why she was angry. In her mind, she was a Witch and now that he had called her an Elf, then it was inevitable to be angry.

But what shocked him the most was that he had never seen her having such a fierce aura around her before.

'When did she become this strong?' is the only question that lingered in his mind when he saw her cold gaze.

Once she calmed herself down, he looked at her deeply and instructed her, "Come here."

"Huh?" Tanzi was confused for the nth time by this man's words.

"Just come here." He did not soften his voice but instead lowered it, making it an order.

Subconsciously Tanzi moved forwards in his direction and gave him a questioning gaze. 'I am here. Now what?'

With her strength, she was sure that he couldn't harm her. Hence she was not scared that he would harm her.

And even if he wanted to harm her, he would have let her drown earlier. Since he had saved her, she was sure that he was a good person who wouldn't try to harm her.

Hence the look which she gave only has a layer of questions but there was no vigilance.

The man was satisfied by the response and her trust towards him and finally gave her a smile.

The smile was calming and soothing. It made all the bits of nervousness that remained in her to leave in an instant.

She finally relaxed in his presence and continued looking at him waiting for his next instructions.

He then said calmly, "Look at your reflection here."

Tanzi understood his words and lowered her head further to look at her face on the surface of the lake.

As soon as her eyes laid on the face that she saw in the water, her entire mind was blown away.

She went into a daze as she felt that the world was playing some sort of weird game with her.
