57 Chapter 56: Baldwin worry.

Francesca looked at August, whose eyes were closed and he didn't react to anything happening around him.

She walked closer to him and rocked him for a few seconds before his eyes snapped open.

"Don't touch me," said August in a deep voice.

She released him, not awaiting such a reaction from him.

"You were the one that went to sleep during our talk!" lightly yelled Francesca.

August didn't reply but just thought about what he saw. Without saying further words, he stood up and proceed to leave.

"Hey! It is your time to tell me about what happened!" shouted Francesca towards August.

August stopped for a second and replied briefly, "Not in the mood".

Leaving her alone, August didn't even look back at the shivering Francesca that was gritting her teeth and looking at August back with the single thought of scorching his face.

August walked towards the area where rooms were located, one floor below the deck. Entering his personal small room, he lay on the bed and looked at the ceiling, wondering about the plans that were set against the prince.

His job was to protect him, but August at the same doubted that Francesca was the one to set up everything here. There should be someone else that is aiming for something and using her as a tool for achieving their goals. The question stays, who is the one that is behind all of this?

Before August could think of anything more than that, someone knocked on the door.

*Knock* *Knock*

The first assumption that came to his mind was that this was Francesca that came to demand some personal information from August.

However, before long he heard a well-known voice, that by hearing it from day to day, crossed the line of being annoying and became something that he got used to hearing every day, but this is all unnecessary nuances.

"August, I want to talk. You are free?" inquired a manly voice that sounded kinda uncertain.

Without standing from the bed, August removed Yrden from the door and let the prince in.

Baldwin walked inside and stood in the room looking at August, who was lying on the bed relaxing.

"August, do you have time?" inquired the prince.

August looked into Baldwin's eyes and nodded his head, pointing towards one of the chairs that were in the room.

"Sit, and we can talk," replied August.

Taking a seat, Baldwin stayed silent for several seconds before finally speaking.

"I think there is something going on," said Baldwin with a heavy sigh.

"Huh," smirked August. "Why do you think that way?" inquired Witcher, looking at the prince.

Prince walked back to the room door and made sure that it was tightly sealed, returning to his seat.

"I just understood that there might be something going on. I had a strange talk with a father before we left. He was concerned that we should not return for at least 2 months.

He told me to be careful and take my time slowly planning the attack, not to hurry and be patient to attack at the right time. But what I found strange was that after our talk, he went right towards his personal temple to pray to the goddess.

He muttered something that I could not get a hang of it, but I'm 100% certain that there was my name said several times. Other than this, I heard mostly nothing."

August stopped Baldwin, asking "Closer to the topic"

Baldwin quickly nodded and explain "So, what I found that is quite odd that, is that he never behaved this way. Since I can remember him, from the early days, when I was still small, he never showed weakness.

I guess that the mother's death might have affected him, making him closed. Sorry, I went off the topic again"

"Continue"

"Right, what I found odd was him suddenly changing. Before, like 1 year ago, he was a very strict father. I had to train 10 hours a day with a sword and other time was spent learning things about politics and war.

One year ago, he completely changed. His concern for me skyrocketed, and he persuaded me to go on this giant rally. I didn't even know that there was a giant in those mountains before.

I agreed on this matter since he told me that it will be beneficial for my future, that people will love someone strong leading them, one to defeat a giant. Nevertheless, it was very strange. He spent more time with me, training me and doing other stuff that we never really did."

"Wrap it up," asked August.

With a deep breath, Baldwin said, "I think there is something coming and father thinks that he won't make it alive."

"And?" inquired August. " I was hired to guard you, not your father," further explained Witcher.

Baldwin's face showed slight confusion upon Witcher mentioning the reason for August being hired for the job.

With a risen brow Baldwin inquired, "Wait, you were hired to guard me?"

Silence enveloped the room. Sound of waves crashing on the corps of the ship, a sad smile appeared on Baldwin's face and he walked outside saying nothing more.

While Baldwin was walking back to his living place, August closed his eyes, thinking.

"So that is what was happening in the city. After all, greed will always be the reason for something like that. Good thing I don't have to think about all of that matter. I will just do my job and set off on the journey."

….

It took them another day of sailing, but they arrived close to the valley where they were supposed to land and continue their travel by foot.

As soon as the ship was moored, everyone walked back to the big ground. August spotted the gloomy faces of both Francesca and Baldwin. Both had similar expressions, but for 2 completely different reasons.

However, just as soon as they landed, someone walked toward them, wearing a 'friendly' smile on his face.

"Good to see the Royal Prince here with us tonight," said a man with a stately physique. At the first glance, you could tell that he was a soldier, until his bones.

Baldwin walked toward the soldier that welcomed him, having no face. "Kneel"

"Sir, this is inappropriate in the current situation," said the soldier.

"I said Kneel," repeated Baldwin, his voice being constant with no changes in intonation. But at the same time, you could hear that it sounded threatening.

"Yes!" replied the soldier, kneeling in front of Baldwin.

"Now introduce," said Baldwin, looking down on the soldier.

"Sileford of Povis, one in command of the troops that arrived to assist you in the rally on the giant." Shouted the soldier with his eyes looking at the ground.

"You can stand up," said Baldwin, giving no reaction.

"Lead us to the camp that you set up," ordered Baldwin.

"Right away, sir!"

….

As soon as they arrived, August spotted a small area where many people stood in a circle. From the middle of the circle, you could hear swords clash against each other, and the cheering crowd around them.

Approaching the crowd, August saw a man that was fighting there against soldiers. Before cursing aloud.

"Fuck! How did I get into the pile of shit?"
