20 Redhead Medic

Mikael was walking through the sewer, trying to find an exit, and got to the surface. He walked through shit and piss, along with strange green liquid that covered the walls and ceiling.

"It's toxic." Miquella stated. "A venom, from a beast."

"There's a beast here?" Mikael questioned.

Miquella hummed. "Deep in the sewers."

Mikael opened an iron door, passing through another gate.

"Must be close." Mikael said to himself, seeing the torches were lit. "The gate's quite clean."

Mikael then continued walking, passing the lit torches. But then, at another gate, he saw a dead body, freshly killed, laying against a wall. It was a Redanian soldier, his face already pale, drained from blood.

Mikael frowned at the sighed, and unsheathed his sword. "Something's here."

"It's someone." Miquella suddenly appeared, pointing at the corner of the corridor.

There was a shadow, moving up and down, like…

"Oh no you don't!" a voice echoed in desperation. "Hear me? Don't you dare!"

Mikael walked towards the shadow, preparing for a fight. He approached it slowly, his sword in his hand.

"Please! Don't do this to me!" the feminime voice shouted once again.

Mikael wondered what's going on with the voice. But then, a scenario passed inside his mind, and his eyes went wide.

He raised his sword, and rushed towards the shadow. Once he turned to the corridor, he saw a redhead young woman, pumping on a dead body's chest.

"A woman?" Mikael questioned out loud, making the redhead turn around in panic.

She grabbed the sword of the dead body, and pointed it at Mikael. "Don't come closer!" she shouted.

"Hey, wow, wow, calm down miss." Mikael raised his hand, his sword along with it.

"Drop the sword." the woman commanded, getting closer to Mikael with her sword still pointing.

Mikael just shrugged, and dropped his sword. "Hey, I'm just passing through… is your friend okay over there?"

"Who the hell 'passed through' sewers?" she questioned with narrowed eyes, kicking Mikael's sword away from him.

"I'm… an illegal immigrant?"

"What?"

"Look… just drop the sword, you'll hurt yourself with that." Mikael slowly tried to drop the sword, which she just let him.

"Y-You went through the sewer because you don't have a permit?" she questioned.

"Yes..." Mikael answered.

"Just you?" she questioned again, looking to the back of Mikael.

"Yes…"

Shani sighed tiredly, she looked at the dead body, and mourned. She dropped down to the ground, massaging her head. Her clothing was dirty. She was wearing a light green doublet, along with a black skirt and stockings. She also had a necklace with a familiar symbol, Mikael had seen it somewhere, but couldn't tell where he saw it.

"You okay miss?" Mikael questioned, seeing the sad state the woman is in.

"Y-Yeah… I'm fine… just… this was not supposed to happen…" she chuckled, pain in her voice.

Mikael looked at her dirtied face, and took out a handkerchief. "Here." he said, "Your face is dirty."

The woman just looked at him, and took it. She cleaned her face with it, and gave the handkerchief back. "Thank you…"

Mikael hummed. She knelt in front of the recently dead body, and inspected it. "What happened here?"

The woman sighed. "It was a monster…" she said. "Didn't see it… these boys…"

"Why is a young woman like you here anyway?" Mikael questioned curiously. "Are you sneaking into Oxenfurt too?"

"Oh gods no…" She said, "I-I'm a medic… for the Redanian army."

"Oh shit." Mikael cursed. "You're not going to turn me in… right?"

The woman chuckled. "No, of course not. The lockdown is bullshit anyway… there's no plagues around."

Mikael hummed as he took a water pouch, drinking it. Mikael looked at the woman, and offered it. "Want some?"

The woman sighed as she took the pouch. "I could use some…"

She drank the water, and Mikael walked around the corridor, checking for dangers. "Do you know the exit?"

"Yeah… it's at the end of the corridor." the woman said. "I wouldn't go there yet if I were you… filled with guards."

Mikael clicked his tongue. "Need to find another way out then…"

"As far as I know… that's the only way…" Shani murmured. "Unless you want to go deeper. But there's a monster running around, so I wouldn't recommend it."

"I can fight." stated Mikael. "If there's a monster around, then you shouldn't be here, miss. go back to the surface."

"I can't go back yet… I need to collect venom samples for the army…"

"Don't be an idiot." Mikael scoffed. "Go back first, bring more men to escort you."

"But there's no more men." the woman sighed. "The rest of them are guarding the walls and street, it's the reason you can pass the watch easily…"

Mikael hummed. "Fair point," he said. "So what will we do? I can't just leave a young woman like you here…"

"It's fine, go without me, I can do it myself, it's just a couple of corridors away."

"I've seen bodies lying around, it's dangerous." Mikael argued. "How about I help you retrieve it, but you have to help me get out the sewer."

"Like how?"

"I don't know, distract the guards for a bit so I can get out?"

The woman shook her head. "No, that won't work. How about you wait for a while? The well will be closed once I get out, so I'll come back to open it for you."

Mikael shrugged at the idea. "Whatever suits you."

The woman stood up as she gave him his water pouch back. Mikael took it, and he walked to his sword, sheathing it.

"Lead the way." Mikael then said, following the woman to a locked gate.
