4 Chapter FOUR

Soon, it was lunch time. Charlotte led Amelia to the area designated to be the cafeteria of the new school. It was a spacious hall that had furniture tables and chairs dispersed all around. The scent of exquisite foreign meals wafted in the air as soon as the two made their way into the cafeteria. A queue had already begun forming as students waited to get their food.

"I did not expect this," Amelia said as soon as they had joined the queue. There were options for meals, all looking well-cooked, high-end and delicious, and it had Amelia salivating.

"Me too," Charlotte said.

"Where did they get the staff for the school?" Amelia raised the point. A part of her wondered if they were humans or vampires, or both; she just couldn't tell, and if it were either, she wondered how it was working.

"Another unexpected perk of having a boarding-like school experience on this island, I guess."

Minutes later, it was their turn. As soon as they had gotten their meals, the two made their way around the cafeteria, searching for a place to sit. Other students had situated themselves around the expensive furniture tables, eating as they conversed amongst each other.

"So, what was your school like?" Charlotte asked as soon as she and Amelia had found an unoccupied space.

"What?" Amelia quipped, taken aback by the question.

"What was your school like?" Charlotte repeated the question. Amelia had heard her, and she felt instantly nervous.

'Damn it!' She thought, chastising herself for forgetting that such a question could be sprung up on her. Then she remembered what Charlotte had told her a couple of hours ago.

"I don't want to talk about it," she stated, having the vampire girl's eyes widen momentarily. "It has something to do with why I changed schools."

Amelia opened her mouth, ready to say something else, but she didn't. A part of her thought of revealing everything to Charlotte, but a part of her was scared of how the girl would react. Charlotte furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, seeing the evident struggle on Amelia's face.

"You don't--"

"Charlotte!" Emmett's voiced pierced the air, having his sister turn to face him behind Amelia. Amelia sighed in relief, happy to have escaped the question. It was part of her past, and she decided to let the past remain in the past.

She turned with a smile to face Emmett. She spotted him walking towards them with the other guy, Ryker. However, they were with someone that made her smile immediately disappear.

Behind the two boys was another that she knew all too well. She did not expect to see him, especially in a place like this. The round head, the squared jaw and the brown hair that matched his eye colour made her remove all the doubts that were forming in her mind.

Whispers had already started when everyone spotted the new guest.

"What the hell is a werewolf doing here?" Charlotte exclaimed, loud enough to get the attention of the other students around them as she stood. They too stood in alert, staring at the guy that had walked in with Emmett and Ryker.

Amelia felt her heart thudding in her chest as anxiety took over. The boy was looking around, having not recognized her, but it was only a matter of time.

'I just had to go with my natural hair colour,' she thought, wanting to groan out loud.

Things had been going great, but then he had to happen. Amelia started thinking of what she would do, but it was hard to think with the person being present in the room.

"Apparently, he snuck in here with others of his kind," Ryker said, scratching the back of his head. He did not look like he liked the situation.

"I thought they were forbidden from being near us," Charlotte expressed her confusion.

"I thought so too," Emmett agreed. "But my folks had them board another plane with the other remaining vampire kids to join us here."

"Emmett--"

"Charlotte, they are a few of them left. They are the last of their kind," Emmett stated with a grim look on his face. A look of understanding dawned on Charlotte's face, but she did not like the situation one bit.

"Thank you for letting us come here," the werewolf said with a voice that sounded appreciative. "I know how much we are inconveniencing you, but I am glad that you have welcomed us here."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever," Ryker stated, showing how much he didn't like the guy. "Any funny business and you'll be getting out of here."

"Charlotte, there's something else he told us," Emmett told his sister. "He thinks the witch responsible for all of this is here with us."

"Here? What do you mean 'here'?" Charlotte asked, and Amelia could feel the fear rolling off of the girl in waves.

"On this island," Emmett stated.

"I don't think that's possible. How can she be with us here?" Charlotte said in disbelief. "I mean, we know everyone here--"

"But that's the thing, Charz," Emmett said, looking forward at Amelia. "We don't know everyone here."

There was a moment of silence as Ryker and Charlotte slowly turned to face the person silently sitting on the chair. Amelia could feel the wariness around them as she raised her head to face them with no emotion in her eyes. She could hear the students talking lowly amongst themselves, and she had no doubt they were murmuring about her.

"Well, it was fun while it lasted," Amelia shrugged, a slow smile taking over her features.

"YOU!" the boy suddenly shouted, glaring at Amelia while pointing at her. His voice was loud with a bit of a growl added at the end, gathering the attention of the other students. Those who had not been close enough to hear what was happening turned to watch the spectacle forming in front of them.

"Dude!" Ryker shouted at the werewolf, urging him to calm down.

"Wait. Me?" Amelia stated in feigned surprise. "Why, thank you."

The wolf roared, moving toward her quickly. Emmett and Ryker tried to grab him, but they were not fast enough.

He stroked with his fist, and it hit Amelia's face with a loud punch. She quickly went to the floor as a sickening crunch echoed around the room, having Charlotte scream and everyone else gasp and exclaim in horror.

"You guys are idiots," the wolf stated. "I can't believe you didn't recognize her the moment you came here. Don't you all watch the fucking news?"

"Declan, that's Amelia," Emmett told the guy. He too was wary about the girl, but he did not want to act before making sure of what she was.

Declan released a humourless laugh.

"This bitch has been fooling you," Declan stated, glaring at Amelia who was still on the floor with her head turned to the side as a result of the blow. Blood flowed from her nose, slowly trickling on the floor.

Charlotte and Ryker remained frozen as they watched her, confused as they did not know what to do.

"She has been fooling all of you!" Declan shouted. "Can't you see it? She is the witch who has done all of this! She is the one she who has forced us here in the first place! You should--"

"Oh, Declan," Amelia cut him off as she slowly stood to her feet. The blood flowing down her nose had stopped, and there seemed to be no indication of injury on her face.

"You shouldn't have done that."

A strong force propelled Declan backward. He went with a scream, moving quickly, crashing into tables and chairs until his back loudly collided with the wall far at the front of the cafeteria. A crack soon appeared as the vibrations of the impact were felt all around the building.

Everyone faced Amelia in shock.

Her black hair had started turning purple, beginning from the roots all the way to her tips. A feeling of power swept around her, and soon, the brown orbs of her eyes were swept away with a glowing, violet colour.

Everyone backed away from her, staring with a mixture of terror and horror in their eyes.

Amelia's eyes encompassed everyone in the cafeteria, and her lips turned to form a devious grin.
