71 What is going on?

The notepad was brilliant. Thanks to Aunt Morgan we had an unconventional way of communicating. It was her ability that I wish I had inherited. It would make my life so much easy. The reading, the learning, the books and the knowledge would all be mine.

"Keep an eye on her. I need you to keep Jenny 69 under surveillance. I'll contact her family and the council. There may be a cleanup. It's worst than I thought it was and I really don't want you to blame me. I can't stop if it from happening if they chose to do something." I said dropping my head into my hands.

"Gray, can you tell me what is going on?" Ronnie asked her cop instincts kicking in.

"Sorry, I honestly am not really sure"

It was like sitting on spikes and on the other side was an open fire. There was no good answer. I had to make lemonade with lemons.

My aunts replied was that they were staying out of it and let me handle it. Since it sort of was my job anyway. This was sort of true as a contractor I was obligated to work for the council and do their bidding if I answered a call. This job wasn't even on the list yet and they told me to take it. My last life I remembered how messy it was at my end. This time I was more involved. It doesn't look like something that be good to me.

"Just spit it at me!" Ronnie demanded.

"I think the tattoos are part of some kind of dangerous ritual magic. The problem is you humans are involve in doing it. There is no magic signature that's traceable. I can't find the things I need to do my part of the job."

"That sound bad. But why did they go for Jamey and Sonia? Those are high profile people. I mean you drag Rae White, Mr. Sinclair, and Madame Finex. Powerful people, it's a very combustible situation like putting a red flag in front of a bull." She asked looking rather skeptic, "It's like they are suicide, very brave, arrogant and stupid. It has to be."

Arrogant would have been my answer as I've seen the spell. Blend with perfection. It made me wonder if the arrows had hit me at that time if they would it have hurt me. Fire was a natural cause of supernatural death. Not many people knew about the simple loophole of forever.

Fire Life.

Fae Life.

Well, at least I knew her magic wasn't completely drained yet. There was so many things that were out of place. You know a high priestess doesn't just disappear without someone powerful plotting against her. But that crime scene I visited was too sloppy and too clean.

It was a nagging possibility that I couldn't shake off.
