28 Walking home?

It took me a moment that I remember there was something I didn't want him to see. My other life, the one I mess up. Not that he was involved in it so it wouldn't matter too much, or so I thought.

"Interesting," he said looking at me with a new light.

Feeling his burning gaze on me, I signed. This was not good. I knew should have run take myself off the case and transfer to England. Then call my aunts and let them make spells to keep me safe but I didn't do anything like that instead I held out my hand and shook his hand. There was no danger of creating a bond because I was still wearing my gloves. But it was a lie, I felt the bond building fast.

"You need to meet Beta Archer. Now!" A large male pops his head in and grabbed Knight away.

It took me a moment to collect myself. After I watch them go in a daze. Knight just had that effect that made you turn into a giggling school girl.

Leaving the glossy black club, I made my way back to my place on foot. Walking was good for my health and with my budget, I couldn't afford a car. It was the gas or the insurance but it was the car itself that meets my aunts standard was out of my price range.

The walking I didn't mind so much but the feeling of being alone. I didn't like it. People around me were enjoying themselves.

Late in the evening on a Friday was the worst time to be on your own. I looked at a couple kissing so much in love the aura was the woman was pink but her man was a deep shade of burgundy like any man that was having an affair he hid it well acting all sweet and considerate. I hated the deceiving part. Most of normal had enough moral to not cheat but some just could not help but cheat. Just look around almost everyone was covered in the haze of red the color of lust they didn't need to fake interest because they had common interest. I liked the buzz I was getting as I walked by but I couldn't enjoy the moment.

The long list of things I started to remember that need to be done, cause me to sweat. One of the more important was to pay property taxes. It was due next month. I owed the city eighteen thousand which put me in trouble as most of my money was tied up in my inventory. I needed to make more money to funds my plans.

"Sorry," I said as someone bumps into me.

The dark figure wearing a white baseball cap walks away without another word. I didn't think of it much at the time and walked away.
